Chapter 3: A Night on the Town

Hey guys! Hope you're all doing well and staying safe. I just wanted to say thanks again for reading my stories. I really appreciate that you guys seem to be enjoying them. Anyway, I hope you all stay safe and have a great day! God bless!

Quick responses to reviews:

TheRaccoon13: Yeah, you can definitely count on me to not have any drama. I'm certainly not a fan of it, so that won't be a problem for me.

AnonymousKataang: Ha, yeah I kind of thought that might happen, but as you can see I had something else in mind.

Ashcat39: Well, I'm glad to hear that you like it so much. As much as I would love to promise that I'll make it a long story, I unfortunately can't. I can promise that it will be at least seven chapters long, though, if it's any consolation. I just don't have the time nor the patience frankly to write long stories, so I'm sorry that it won't be a long one.

Lalaanddiki: You'll find out part of it soon, but I can tell you that the other part of it is charity work.

Thewirlydirly: Ha, thanks! Glad to hear that you're already hooked on it.

JustAReader1418: Oh don't worry, I'm not rushing it or anything. I'm just starting to get back into my groove as a writer for the moment. But thanks for the concern!

KRIKKITWARS542: I honestly just thought of it. Like, when I started writing the second chapter, I had this vision of how I wanted things to play out, and part of that was to have them get to know each other in a fun way. And I don't know how, but my vision just kind of showed them tossing popcorn to each other while relaxing in the livingroom and I figured out the rest. So, I guess that's how I thought of it.

Aangbanger: I agree, those kinds of stories are my favorite, and you'll find that almost all my stories- if not all of them- are that way because that's how I prefer it to be. And yeah, I couldn't help but laugh too when I was writing it. It just seems like something he would do if he was in that situation.

: Don't worry, I won't.

Ashley Barbosa: Thanks, I'm glad to hear that you liked it.

A few days later, Katara found herself getting ready for Girls Night. She didn't particularly care for this, but Yue had insisted on keeping this tradition since they didn't get to spend much time together anymore now that she had moved into Sokka's place. And though she wasn't necessarily fond of it, she agreed that they needed opportunities to spend more time together.

But, the problem she mostly found with Girls Night was that it wasn't just her and Yue. Oftentimes, Yue would bring random people that Katara had never met to party with them, meaning that it would be a little awkward for everyone except Yue. She supposed it didn't really matter, though. If it meant that she could spend some time with her best friend, she would deal with any awkwardness gladly.

And so she found herself in her bathroom checking to make sure her appearance was decent. Not that she usually cared about how she looked, but it was fun for her to dress up and to feel good about herself. Besides, on the off chance Aang came home before she went to spend time with her friend and just so happened to look good in front of him, then that would make it all the better.

She smiled as she thought back to the last few days. After the first night of playing the "get to know you" game that Aang had introduced to her, they had ended up playing it every night up til this one. With all of that time they had spent learning about each other, Katara had found herself liking him more and more.

He was truly one of a kind. Not only was he rather handsome and strong, he was kind and selfless, spending most of his day helping out the charities he sponsored. As she had learned from their continuation of the game in the nights prior, he had hired someone to take care of his rental properties so that he could continue doing what he loved, amazing her to no end at his selflessness.

At any rate, it was quite plain to say that she had taken quite a liking to him, and she was certain that she wanted to see if something couldn't happen between them. And though she had seen some things that she hoped meant that he felt as she did, she had decided that it would have to wait for the night. Friends and family came first in her list of priorities, and she wasn't about to let them down now because she had acquired a rather large crush on her roommate.

Shaking these thoughts out of her mind, she checked herself over one last time in the mirror to make sure she was ready before walking out of her room. Katara normally didn't like to leave by herself without something to defend herself in case a drunk jerk would try to get handsy with her at the bar she was going to meet Yue at, and thanks to the weather turning colder, had decided to wear a small leather jacket over her ocean blue dress that also held her water pouch just in case the need arose.

Ever since they had turned twenty-one, the two best friends had made a pact that as long as they both still lived in the same city, they would meet up at their favorite bar. They hadn't bothered to swear that it would be every Friday night, as they both knew that this would be almost impossible, but they promised to try their very best to make it so.

And so, the young waterbender found herself walking out of her room and looking around the apartment, hoping to find something to distract herself long enough for Aang to come back. And although she knew that she could easily let her attention be focused on playing with the animals who were currently taking naps, and also knowing that there was nothing else she could do to delay herself from going to the hangout, she decided against it. Not only did she not want to disturb her furry friends' peaceful slumber, but she very much doubted that Aang would be coming back soon. He had told her that he had some business that might take him well into the night, and despite his keen ability to get out early from whatever he had scheduled for the day, she could tell that he didn't think he was going to get home early. And if he wasn't going to get back any time soon, there was no real point for her to stay there.

Walking over to give Appa and Momo a soft pet and a kiss on top of their heads, she made her way to the front door and stooped down to put on her heels. She was not particularly keen on wearing heels, as they hurt her feet like crazy, but they made her a little taller and could also be used against guys as a weapon, so she didn't totally hate them.

Though as she put them on and tried to get herself reacquainted with them, she couldn't help but wish they had been made more solid. How models could walk with these on runways for fashion shows with such ease, she would never know.

But, once she was finally satisfied that she was ready, she walked out of the apartment and made sure to lock it behind her. After ensuring that no one would be getting in, she turned back around and started making her way downstairs, using the utmost care to not slip and fall as she did so. If she had a dollar for every time that she had fallen down the stairs in high heels, she probably could have her own house by now.

Finally making it down to her car, she climbed in and started it up, searching through the channels until she found one that she liked and started driving. The bar that they would meet at was in downtown, and not too far away from her previous apartment. Even from her new home, though, she had been to the place long enough to know how to get there.

Before very long, she found herself back in the part of town that she knew like the back of her hand. Despite the fact that it wasn't one of the safest areas in the city, it still felt like home to her. Her father hadn't been able to afford a home in a nice area when her mother had died, and he had been forced to move his family to the place she had spent most of her childhood.

Aside from the higher than normal crime rate, it really wasn't a bad place to live. It just wasn't quite as posh as the nicer parts of town, like where she currently lived. Seeing this place compared to her new home was like night and day.

Pulling up to the familiarly bad neon sign in the front of the bar, she put the car in park and got out, making sure to lock it behind her before walking into the bar. It was a Friday night, so of course the bar was alive with the sounds of laughter and cheering as people did everything between drinking contests and watching whatever sports were on at the moment. She didn't really mind it, though. In fact, she would prefer people to talk then for it to be quiet.

As she walked in, she ignored a few cat calls that came her way from people sitting at the bar and made her way over to the regular booth that she and Yue always got. Fortunately for her, her father's best friend Bato was the owner of this bar, and had reserved the booth for them whenever they would meet up for their Girl's Night.

To her not so surprise, Yue was already there, though she couldn't help but frown a little as she noticed that Yue was already sitting with her friend who she had invited. Most of the time, if Yue brought another person to their Girl's Night, the person didn't come until later, leaving some time for the two to talk to themselves. This would not be the same for tonight, she noticed with an unhappy sigh.

Deciding to not let this get her down, she walked the rest of the way and took the open seat across from her best friend and the new stranger.

"Kat!" Yue exclaimed excitedly as she stood up and reached her arms out expectantly, making Katara laugh as she stood back up and hugged her before the two sat down. "It's so good to see you!"

Katara couldn't keep a smile off her face. Yue might have been crazy sometimes, but she was her best friend for a reason. "It's nice to see you too, Yue." She remained silent for a few moments, waiting for her friend to introduce her to the stranger who was currently letting a shot down into her system. But, after Yue didn't seem to get why she had gone silent, she then looked at her pointedly while gesturing to the girl dressed in almost all pink.

"Oh! Right, I guess you haven't met her before," Yue laughed in embarrassment before turning and gesturing to her friend. "Ty Lee, this is my best friend since Kindergarten, Katara. Katara, this is Ty Lee, my friend from my new job!"

The young waterbender put on a smile, though she knew that it was an awkward one. She wasn't particularly a fan of getting introduced to so many new people when Girl's Night had originally been just them, but Yue had insisted that they would have more fun if they had someone else to party with them. "Nice to meet you."

"Nice to meet you, too!" came Ty Lee's reply accompanied by a dazzling smile that made Katara almost blinded by how bright her smile was. Clearly, the awkwardness between them was completely one-sided. "Yue's told me a lot about you!"

"Oh, really?" Katara asked suspiciously with a questioning glare at Yue, seeing her smile sheepishly before she turned back to Ty Lee. "And what about me has she told you?"

"Nothing much, really," Ty Lee shrugged as she looked up and the ceiling and thought about it. "Just that you're a really good waterbender and that you're fun to hang out with." Katara's suspicious look dropped from hearing this and Yue let out a soft sigh of relief. "Oh! And she said that you have a crush on your roommate."

Katara immediately shot a death glare at her friend. "Yue…" came her dangerous warning tone, making Yue's eyes widen as she put her hands in the air in surrender.

"I'm sorry, okay? I was just so excited to hear that you finally found someone you like and… it just kind of came out when I was talking to her about you…" she confessed as she looked down at the table in shame.

After a few moments of pinching her nose, Katara took a deep breath and let it out, knowing it wouldn't do her any good to yell at her friend. "It's okay, Yue," she finally sighed, making Yue's head snap up in surprise from hearing this.

"Really?!" she couldn't help but almost gasp out. Katara had never been a fan of anyone talking about her secrets before, and Yue had gotten an earful more than once for lesser things.

"Yeah," Katara laughed a little as she saw the clear relief on her friend's face. "I know it was only because you were happy for me, so you're off the hook for this one."

Yue couldn't help but let out a bigger sigh of relief, giving her friend a grateful smile as her demeanor instantly improved. "Thanks, Kat." With everyone feeling at ease and the awkwardness being gone, Yue raised a hand over to one of the waiters who walked by. "Excuse me, can we get some shots over here, please?"

The waiter nodded and walked to the back of the room, making Katara look at her friend in surprise. "You didn't even tell him what kind of shots we want."

"We've been coming here for years, Kat," Yue laughed in reply, her point proven as the waiter came back with three shots for each of them before going back to serve some other customers as she picked one up. "I think they know us enough by now to know what we usually get."

Katara couldn't help but laugh as well as she realized that her friend was right. "Yeah, I guess so. I'm just used to us actually ordering what we usually get. It's just… different."

"Well, get used to different," Yue chuckled as she raised her shot glass in the air. "I propose a toast. To friends and family, and more importantly, to Girl's Night!"

"To Girl's Night!" Ty Lee and Katara agreed and clinked their glasses together before throwing the shot down the hatch, making them all squint a little as the alcohol went into their system.

Being satisfied that all was right among them again, Yue noticed something that she somehow hadn't before. "Wow, Kat. Someone got dressed up," she whistled a little, making Katara roll her eyes as she looked away. "What's the special occasion?"

"I don't know what you're talking about," Katara replied a bit defensively. "I just wanted to get dressed up a little is all."

She knew that her friend wasn't buying it, especially with the doubtful look that her friend was giving her. "Oh please, Katara. Your hair is completely straightened out, you're wearing a dress, and you're wearing high heels." She gave her another disbelieving look. "You never wear high heels."

Contemplating whether she should try to keep this going longer or not, she decided against it. Yue knew her too well at this point for her to succeed, and she knew that she just wasn't going to get out of giving her friend the truth.

"Okay, okay," she sighed in defeat as she fiddled with her fingers nervously, knowing that her friend was going to tease her endlessly about this. "The truth is… I was kind of hoping that my new roommate would see me like this before I left, but he wasn't home."

By the look on her friend's face, she knew that she was in for one hell of a teasing. "Oooh. Katara's in looove," came Yue's teasing laughter, making the poor waterbender's face burn red.

"Yue, I just met him," she reminded her. "There's no way that I'm in love with him already."

"You don't know that, Kat," Yue told her seriously. "The moment I fell in love with your brother was when he stumbled over himself trying to ask me out."

Katara made a sour face upon hearing this, not wanting to hear about how her brother and Yue had gotten together. "Yue, can you please do me a favor and not talk about that kind of stuff when we're out on Girl's Night?"

"I'm sorry, Kat, but I'm just trying to prove a point," Yue replied easily as she picked up another shot and threw it down. "I know I fell in love quickly, and I know that you can, too if it's with the right person."

The young waterbender couldn't help but think over this for a few moments. There was a ringing truth in her friend's words, and she knew that she could actually be right. She had met many young men in her life, and not one of them had ever made her want to pursue a relationship with them until she had met Aang. Not only that, but she had taken an immediate liking to him. So much so that she had made it her own personal mission to get to know him more. That didn't exactly strike her as normal feelings behavior. Was it possible that she was already in love with him?

Although part of her was saying that it was possible, there was the other more doubtful side that was speaking louder in her head. Despite Yue's story, not everyone was the same. Besides that, she didn't even know if he liked her back, let alone loved her. If she admitted to herself that she had already fallen in love with him and he didn't feel the same, it would crush her. Besides, the rational part of her brain wouldn't allow her to think this just yet. She had just met him, and although she liked him a great deal, there was no way that she was in love with him already.

And yet... why did it feel like that statement was a complete and utter lie?

"Kat?"

The sound of her friend's voice finally snapped her out of her thoughts, making her blush heavily as she realized that she had been out of it for several moments. "Yeah?" she finally responded, her eyes blinking rapidly as she tried to get these thoughts of her mind.

Seeing that her friend clearly had a lot to think about on that frontier, Yue decided that it would be best to change the subject. Though she wasn't done with teasing Katara just yet. "So, tell me about this roommate of yours. What's he like?"

Unable to hold back a smile as she thought of him, Katara recalled all the things that she had learned about him over the last few nights. "Well, he's one of the kindest, most down to earth guys I've ever met." Yue motioned for her to continue as Ty Lee leaned forward in interest. "He's actually the owner of the apartment building I live in."

"Really?" Ty Lee couldn't help but ask in surprise, watching as Katara nodded in affirmation. "If he's the landlord, why is he renting out the other room in his apartment? I mean, I doubt that he's having money problems."

"Huh," Katara thought aloud as she pondered over this. "You're right. I never really thought about that." Deciding that it didn't matter, she shook off the questions in her mind and decided to continue her previous explanation. "I don't know, but whatever the reason, I'm glad he did. He's so nice and considerate. Most of his free time is spent helping others, and sometimes he doesn't get back from it until late at night."

"Wow," Yue couldn't help but be impressed. "It sounds like he's a really good guy, Kat. What's his name?"

"Aang. Aang White," Katara replied, although she appeared to be a bit distracted as she thought about all that she had learned about him.

To her great surprise, however, Yue and Ty Lee's jaws dropped. "Your roommate is Aang White?" her best friend couldn't help but sputter out, making her laugh a little.

"Um… yeah?" she asked in confusion as she saw that the two girls in front of her look like someone had just slapped them in the face. "Why?"

After a few moments of the two's jaws being practically on the ground, it was Ty Lee who decided to speak up. "Aang White is the city's most-known philanthropist, if not the country."

"Yeah," Yue agreed as she finally found her voice again. "He's spent years of his life raising money for a lot of different charities around the city. He even got the key to the city from the mayor!"

Katara couldn't help but be even more impressed than she was before. She had known that Aang was already a good person from what she had learned of him before, but to hear this from her own best friend was the icing on the cake.

"Wow," she couldn't help but breathe a little in disbelief. "That's amazing."

Yue couldn't help but laugh in delight. "And that's who you're living with. The city's most charitable person," she added with a happy smile for her friend.

"Not to mention he's pretty easy on the eyes, too," Ty Lee added with a smirk, making her and Yue laugh as Katara couldn't help but think back to how she had frozen up when she had first seen him. Ty Lee was right. He was rather easy on the eyes.

After a few moments of them laughing and Katara thinking, they finally settled down enough for Yue to continue her teasing. "So, when are you going to go on a date with the greatest philanthropist in the city?" her teasing voice finally got Katara to come out of her thoughts, unable to hide a deep blush as she glared at her friend.

"Could you be any louder, Yue?" she scolded her friend, but Yue just laughed it off as she took another shot and put the glass back down.

"Oh relax, Katara," her friend waved off her concern as Ty Lee threw down her shot as well, leaving Katara as the only one who hadn't finished their shots yet. "I doubt that anyone here knows him."

Although she knew that her friend was likely right, she couldn't help it as she said. "I know, Yue, but please just keep your voice down. You never know if-"

"Katara?"

The three girls stiffened in surprise as a voice came from the side of the table, but Katara couldn't help but be almost frozen in shock as she recognized the already familiar voice. The voice that belonged to the very man they had just been talking about moments ago.

Knowing that it wouldn't do her any good to keep sitting there in shock, she turned her head and lost all hope of it being someone else as she looked upon the young airbender whom she liked, her fear quickly spiralling as she worried whether or not he had heard their conversation about him.

"H-hey, Aang," she laughed nervously as she started tugging at her hair, her nerves at an all-time high at the moment. "What are you doing here?"

She became surprised as she saw him sigh a little, but despite the fact that she could tell that he was exasperated by something, he didn't seem to let it get to him. "Remember when I told you that I had some important business meeting earlier?" Katara nodded as she looked at him with confusion clear on her face. "Well, I'm actually in that meeting right now. My friend Zuko," he pointed to a booth not too far away from theirs that had a man and a woman sitting next to each other with the man's arm wrapped around the woman's shoulders as they talked. "-comes from a rich family that could really help some of the charities that need it."

"Okay… so why don't you seem happy?" Katara couldn't help but wonder. "Is everything alright?"

"Yeah, everything's fine," he assured her as he forced himself to not look so exasperated. "It's just that I've been friends with Zuko for so long, he's like an older brother to me. And although it's fun most of the time, when he's had a few drinks, he tends to…"

"Tease you more than is really necessary?" Katara supplied helpfully, watching as he nodded with another tired sigh.

"Yeah. I know he means well, but his Uncle has been friends with my Guardian for a long time, so Zuko was around for all the embarrassing things that happened when I was little," he explained, making Katara giggle as she saw that he did not like this one bit. Her giggles immediately seemed to lift his mood, however, as the chiming bells that she called a laugh went straight to his heart and soul.

Once her giggles had finally settled down, she gave him an understanding smile. "I think I know what you mean. My brother does that to me, too. Especially when he's drunk."

A grin spread across his face as he thought of something. "Well, if I ever meet your brother, I'll have to bring some drinks with me and see what he knows," he said jokingly, making her laugh again as he enjoyed watching her.

"Well, I guess I'll just have to make sure you guys never meet, then," she joked right back at him, feeling a blush creep up on her cheeks as he continued looking at her. "Um… Aang?"

Finally snapping out of the daze he had been put in by her beauty, he smiled sheepishly and rubbed his neck sheepishly. "Uh, sorry. I got lost in my thoughts there for a second." Katara still looked confused, but Yue and Ty Lee didn't look convinced as he cleared his throat. "So, what are you doing here?"

Although she felt like she had missed something important, she decided that it could wait. For the moment being, at least. "Me and my friend Yue here," she gestured to Yue who smiled and waved back at him. "Have a Girl's Night when we can to catch up."

Understanding finally dawned on Aang, and he realized that he was likely interrupting their Girl's Night, making him feel bad for stopping by. "Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't know. I'll just go-"

"No!" Katara blurted out, making him blink in surprise as she blushed heavily as she realized that she had grabbed his hand to keep him from going. Hastily dropping it, she cleared her throat awkwardly and tried to think of something, anything to make her not seem weird around him. "I, uh… I just meant that you don't have to go if you don't want to. You weren't interrupting us or anything."

If anyone else had seen the faces of the people in that area, they likely would have burst out laughing from the assortment of surprise, embarrassment, and the two friends watching the whole thing with a mixture of great interest and trying not to laugh at the situation they found themselves in.

But, after a few moments of Aang blinking rapidly in disbelief and Katara trying to avoid his gaze, he finally managed to snap himself out of his surprise and smiled warmly at her. "Well, as much as I've enjoyed talking to you, I really should get back to my friends. Besides, I don't want to interrupt your time with your friends." Giving her one more smile, an idea came to mind as he reached into his wallet and put down a hundred on the table, making everyone gasp in surprise as he did so. "You three have fun, but be careful, okay?"

Katara could only nod in agreement, knowing that she should at least thank him, but being unable to do so from the pure shock that he didn't seem to think that she was weird despite all that had happened in the last few moments. And, to her even greater surprise as he started walking away, he took a step back and looked at her. "Oh, by the way, you look great, Katara. I just thought you should know that."

Once again, the poor waterbender could only give him a weak smile in thanks as he smiled once more at her before making his way back over to the booth where his friend was waiting for him.

The three sat there in silence for a few moments, all of them trying to register what had just happened. Not so surprisingly, it was the waterbender who was having the most trouble with it. She had been certain that she had scared Aang off, and yet, he had paid for their drinks for the night and he had complimented her. Though she couldn't help but think that getting dressed up had been worth it after all.

She didn't get to enjoy this thought for long, however, as Yue had finally snapped out of her surprise and was ready to resume her teasing. "Ooh. Katara's got a boyfriend!"

"Yue!" the frightened waterbender scolded as she looked to see if Aang had heard, but luckily for her his booth was too far away.

Ty Lee decided to join in the teasing as Yue picked up her chant. "Katara's got a boyfriend. Katara's got a boyfriend," they sung together, making Katara hide her face in her hands as she hoped dearly that Aang couldn't hear them.

But, once the chanting had finally stopped, she couldn't deny that she wanted to know why they were saying that. "What do you mean? If I had any chance with him, I'm pretty sure I just ruined it."

Yue simply scoffed, a roll of her eyes signifying her clear doubt at this notion. "Oh please, Kat. Did you see the way he was looking at you? Not to mention the way he was talking to you, and the compliment?"

"And he paid for our drinks," Ty Lee added as she pointed to the hundred dollar bill. "A guy wouldn't do that unless he wanted to impress someone."

"Maybe he just felt bad because he thought he was interrupting us and wanted to make up for it," Katara reasoned.

"If he wanted to make up for it, he could have just paid for one round," Yue reminded her. "Instead, he paid for at least six."

Although Katara didn't want to get her hopes up, she couldn't help but think that maybe she was right. Despite her clear mess-up, Aang had still acted as kind to her as ever. He hadn't seemed to be deterred by her… eagerness, and he had even gone as far as to pay for their drinks. Did that mean…

Finding that she wanted to believe it, but still having that doubt in her mind, she finally decided that it would have to wait. If Aang did like her, she needed concrete proof, not something that could be interpreted in different ways.

"Whether he wanted to impress me or not, it doesn't matter," she finally told her friends as she shook herself out of it. "I'll believe that he likes me when I hear it come from him."

Rolling her eyes, Yue decided to give it one more go. "Kat, he told you that you look great. There was no need for him to do that, but he said it anyway."

"Yes, but maybe he was just being nice to make it less awkward," came Katara's reply, although she knew that it sounded pathetic even to her. "It doesn't matter, Yue. I'm not going to risk losing his friendship over your 'evidence'. Now, can we please just have some fun?"

"Sounds good to me," Ty Lee cheered as she waved over to one of the waiters and called for some more shots, making the girls cheer as they raised glasses and threw them down. Although Yue wanted to make her friend know that she really shouldn't be so doubtful over it, she knew how stubborn her friend could be, and decided that she would just have to let her figure it out on her own. Besides, it was Girl's Night, and she wanted to have some fun with her friends.

And have fun they did, as the three girls put down shot after shot until they were completely inebriated. In fact, Ty Lee had gotten so drunk that she had ended up taking off her shirt and swinging it around as she stood on top of their table. And though many men in the bar had appreciated this, the waiters could not allow this to continue and had cut her off, making her sad as she couldn't drink anymore.

Now having no real reason to stay there since her friends had passed out in the booth, she had someone call her a cab and went home, leaving the two best friends laying there as they softly snored. Fortunately for them, Aang's gift to them was just enough to cover their drinks, and Ty Lee had even left a nice tip for the waiter who had served them before she had left.

But, after a while of the two girls snoozing while everyone partied around them, the sound of a familiar chuckle woke Katara out of her sleep. Sitting up from her comfortable spot on the seat, she became surprised to find that Aang had returned.

"A-Aang?" she slurred a little as she looked closely at him. "W-what a-are you s-still doing h-here?"

Another laugh escaped his lips at this, and he just shook his head and smiled at her. "Well, my 'business meeting' just got finished, and I wanted to check up on you guys. It's a good thing I did. You guys can't drive home like this."

"S-sure we can," Katara objected drunkenly as she reached into her pockets and pulled out her keys. "See? I can go right now."

"No, you are not driving," Aang chided her as he snatched the keys from her hands and looked at her carefully. "Do you know where your friend lives?" Katara nodded, though she was noticeably having a hard time concentrating at the moment. "Good. Come on," he sighed as he poked at Yue who was still sleeping.

"Five more minutes," came her sleepy reply as she remained face down against the seat where Ty Lee had previously sat.

Seeing that she wasn't going to get up on her own, he let out a little sigh and reached down, making her squeal a little in surprise as he picked her up and flung her over his shoulder. With that taken care of, he then turned to Katara and held out his hand. "Come on, Katara. Let's get you and your friend home."

Needing no convincing, Katara drunkenly reached out and took his hand, being amazed at how gentle he was with her as he led the way out of the bar. Had anyone else done this, someone would have called the police or tried to stop them, but Aang was one of the most respected people in the city. They all knew that he would cause them no harm.

Leading the way out to where he had parked, he cursed as he remembered that his car was only a two seater, and that they needed one that had at least three seats. Taking a look around, he looked upon Katara's car and saw that it was a four seater. Letting out a sigh of relief, he slowly made his way over to the car with the drunk Katara doing her best to walk with the high heels on and Yue snoring soundly on his shoulder.

Once he finally reached it, he unlocked the door and laid the still sleeping Yue in the back, making sure that she was comfortable before he closed the door. With that taken care of, he led the greatly struggling Katara to the other side of the car and just barely managed to catch her as she slipped off of the pavement when she tried to step down.

"Wow. You're warm," Katara breathed as she found her face buried in the shirt between his jacket, making him laugh a little as helped her straighten up.

"Thanks. Now come on. Let's get you both home," he coaxed her into the seat and put her seatbelt on before making his way back over to the driver's side and getting himself in. Once he was sure that everyone was secure, he started up the car and started driving away.

"Okay, Katara," he began as he turned out of the downtown area. "Where does your friend live?"

"Um… I don't remember…" she trailed off as she tried to think about it, but found herself distracted by her driver as she looked at him.

Unable to hold back a laugh, Aang decided to try another way. "Hey Katara, do you want to have a sleepover at Yue's?"

"That would be amazing!" Katara smiled drunkenly in excitement, making him laugh more as he saw this before getting back to his plan.

"Well, if you tell me where her house is, we'll go there right now," he offered, watching as his plan worked, hook, line, and sinker.

"Okay! It's 1400 Kuruk Avenue," she smiled and looked out the window, becoming fixated on a dog that was being walked as she did so.

Finally getting what he needed, he made his way over to the address and pulled up next to the house, feeling relieved that he had finally found it. Unbuckling himself, he got out of the car and picked up the passed out Yue and brought her over to the door, not noticing as a drunk Katara waved goodbye to her friend.

Upon reaching the door, the young airbender didn't hesitate and knocked on it, waiting patiently for a few moments before the sound of the door unlocking came and the door swung open, revealing a young man with a ponytail standing at the door.

"Oh, uh… Hi," the young man laughed awkwardly as he didn't recognize this new person. "How can I help you?"

"Sorry for bothering you, I'm just here to drop her off," Aang smiled apologetically as he handed Yue over to Sokka, making his eyes widen as he saw that his girlfriend was clearly passed out.

"What happened?" he couldn't help but gasp in surprise, making Aang laugh as he shrugged.

"They were having their Girl's Night, and it looks like they had a little too much fun," he chuckled as he pointed back to the car where Katara was waving drunkenly to her brother. "So, I decided that it was time they went home."

Understanding dawned on Sokka as he nodded. "Yeah, it looks like they overdid it this time. Thanks for getting Yue back to me. I could take Katara back to her place if you want?" he offered.

"Well, I appreciate the offer, but I'm already going the same way," Aang explained, making Sokka look at him in confusion before he decided to explain further. "I'm her new roommate."

Sokka just blinked in surprise. "Katara has a new roommate?" was his only reply.

"Yeah, just about a week ago, she moved into my place," Aang told him, wondering why Sokka seemed so surprised by this. "I thought she would have told you about that?"

"She didn't tell me," Sokka shook his head as he thought about it. Aang couldn't help but be curious about this. Why wouldn't Katara tell her own brother about her finding a new home and that she had found a new roommate?

He didn't get to ponder on this for long, however, as Sokka had already given up trying to figure it out. "Oh well, if you're her roommate, I'm sure you know where to go. But just so you know, if you hurt her in any way, I'll find you," he jabbed a finger in Aang's gut as his eyes squinted at him.

"Don't worry, that won't be a problem," Aang assured him with a smile as he looked back at Katara. "I don't see any reason why anyone would want to hurt her." Sokka looked at him suspiciously, but Aang didn't seem to notice as he continued looking back at the young waterbender who was still looking at him.

But, after he finally managed to snap out of it, he turned back to the young man in front of him. "Well, I hope you have a good night. I'll make sure that your sister texts you in the morning so you know she's okay. It was nice meeting you!" he called to him as he turned and made his way back to the car, driving away quickly as Sokka stood there looking a mix of confused and disgusted as he noticed that this new roommate of hers appeared to like his sister. Deciding that it would be best to ignore it, he turned around and closed the door, trying to get that thought out of his head almost desperately.

Not long later, Aang found himself at the door of his apartment with Katara right next to him. It had been a struggle to get her up the stairs, but he had managed it eventually, and Katara had got through it with only one fall.

Unlocking the door, he led the way inside of the apartment and helped her get out of her high heels, laughing a little as he heard her sigh in instant relief that she was no longer wearing them. Seeing her tiredness start to get to her, he led her over to her room and turned on the lamp light so he could see. Once he was confident he wouldn't stumble over anything, he helped her into her bed and pulled the sheets up to her neck, making her smile softly as he stroked the top of her head in a soothing manner.

But, he knew he couldn't be in there forever, and decided to let her get some sleep. Turning around, he was about to walk out when he heard her soft voice.

"Aang?"

Turning around slowly, he replied. "Yes?"

"Thank you for taking care of me," came her tired whisper, the young waterbender flashing him a grateful smile before her eyes closed and she fell asleep.

Unable to hold back a smile at this, he walked over to her and admired her beauty for a few moments before leaning down and placing a soft kiss on her cheek, not noticing the sleepy smile that came onto her face from this as he pulled away. Once he was sure that she okay, he walked back over to the lamp and turned out the light, giving her one last look before he walked out of the room and closed the door behind him. And though this certainly wasn't how he had expected this night to go, he couldn't say it was a bad one. After all, any night that he got to spend with her was a good one in his book.

Letting out a yawn himself, he gathered his furry friends and got ready for bed, falling into sweet dreams of the waterbender as he fell asleep.
