Missing a limb

sara hail asked for a oneshot of Emma losing her leg saving Neal.

To my little salty friend: actually, you're wrong. As one of the first ones I wrote with an EE theme was one of my more popular chapters, Jewel thieves. In case you need reminded, this centred around the whole family. In future, I shall try to adapt my muse to suit the toys you're flinging out your pram. Spoiler alert, I probably won't.

To everyone else: Sorry for the delay, but I have been (and still am) INSANELY busy. I know I'm building up a little backlog, which I will clear when possible. But truth be told, that's not the only reason I haven't written in so long. I've just not had the enjoyment from it. I've been quite anxious lately, which may have something to do with it. But I'm not sure. I'll write out any requests I get, and still do my best to make 3000, but beyond that I'm unsure. Anyway, just thought I'd explain my longer than usual absence.

She kept going to scratch it, then being confused when her hand just kept going until it reached the sheets below. Then she would remember. She only had one leg now. Whale and the rest of the team weren't able to save her left leg. But for every moment Emma felt somewhat hollow without one leg, she remembered she would rather have lost a limb than her little brother.

It really had been a close call. They'd been out playing in the forest after a storm. Neither of them really noticed that the true wasn't sturdy. Well, not until it was falling on top of them. Neal was right in the path of the oncoming tree. Being a little boy, he froze with fear, just staring up at his oncoming doom with horror. Emma sprang into action. She shoved Neal out of the way to stop him being crushed by the tree. Unfortunately, Emma didn't get fully out of the way in time. Her leg got caught under the tree.

She would no longer be able to actively serve as a police officer. Unless she got a specially adapted car, she would no longer be able to drive. She would have to learn how to walk again. How to stand unaided so she could shower (she hated baths). Her whole life had been turned upside down, and she didn't know how to feel. Yet, she wouldn't do anything different if it meant Neal was safe. That was what being a big sister was about. She had done her job, and Emma couldn't feel bad about that.
