AN: I'm currently reposting all of the chapters because I'm not happy with the number of mistakes, there were also some inconsistencies in the timeline which need sorting out.

Whilst driving to the hospital in an erratic manner, Gibbs made a phone call to McGee and barked orders to locate a lawyer named Richard Mason under strict rules to keep it quiet, this request once again triggered chatter amongst the team.

Ziva, having made several threats against McGee's life involving several pieces of office equipment, had managed to get the name of the lawyer and began doing background research whilst McGee found the current address and phone number. Tony, of course, made no great contribution except bad jokes.

Gibbs and Abby arrived at the hospital and made their way to the paediatric ward, Eliana's room was easy to identify due to the FBI agents standing on guard, outside.

With a deep breath and a flash of his NCIS ID, Gibbs entered the room to see Eliana. She had grown up so much since he last saw her when she was three. Her hair, whilst in dire need of a brush was the same red as Jen's and lay in tight curls around her. Whilst Gibbs knew her to be 14, she didn't look older than 10 she was severely underweight and her face swollen almost beyond recognition.

Abby was unusually quiet and taking in the scene that lay before her.

"Gibbs?" She questioned quietly so as not to wake the girl.

"Abs, this is Jen's daughter Eliana, I need you to take a DNA sample and run it to make sure it's a match" Gibbs's voice broke as he finished explaining.

Abby's mind was now running at top speed trying to think of explanations and reasons for the young girl's state. She decided against asking any more questions, Gibbs looked as though he was on the verge of tears. Instead, Abby wandered to the nursing station to ask permission to take a DNA swab to confirm Eliana's identity.

Accompanied by a friendly nurse named Dani, Abby re-entered the room, cotton swab in hand. Just as Abby approached the bed the nurse spoke up.

"You should probably ask her first, Eliana is awake she just lies there with her eyes closed, she has been through a lot. We have had some close encounter Eliana doesn't take kindly to unwarned actions." The nurse explained

"Okay. Hi Eliana, my names Abby I'm a forensic scientist, is it okay if I take a DNA swab from your cheek?" At this Eliana opened her chocolate brown eyes.

Although they were blank and rather lifeless, showing no sign of understanding, Eliana reached for the cotton swab and rubbed the end against the inside of her cheek. She handed it back to Abby, with the same blank look on her face.

"Have you done that before? Maybe in science class?" Asked Abby with a smile on her face. Eliana had once again shut her eyes and lay motionless as though she was asleep.

"Hey Dani, how is she?" Asked Gibbs

"Honestly it's hard to say, physically she has a traumatic brain injury and a severe concussion. The poor girl was in a coma for three days, she woke up yesterday, we are still trying to establish brain function and any effects. So far we have confirmed epilepsy as a result of the brain injury. Due to massive internal damage, we have carried partial resection of the pancreas and removed her spleen, as a result, she has diabetes." Explained the nurse.

Abby and Gibbs were now stunned into silence at what Eliana had been through.

"Psychologically it's much harder to judge, Eliana has said a word since she regained consciousness. She rarely makes eye contact and has since yesterday not moved apart from reaching for that DNA swab." Again, Eliana opened her eyes, looking towards Gibbs, Abby and Dani.

"She hasn't responded to any request or answered any of the doctor's questions. At this stage we are trying to work out the extent of brain function, it doesn't appear that she understands much of what is going on. If we could gain a clearer picture of exactly what has happened to her we might be able to treat her better in terms of both physical and mental health. It's clear this girl has been abused to within an inch of her life." At this Dani shook her head.

"NCIS don't know what has happened to her at the moment but I'm sure as hell gonna find out!" With that Gibbs left the room and Abby followed, they were headed to the car and drove back to NCIS in silence.

"Gibbs, are you okay?" Asked Abby, it wasn't like her boss to be this quiet or show so much emotion, of course, Gibbs being emotional was the equivalent to Abby's level of emotion if she was unconscious. She received no response except a sudden acceleration.

Back at the navy yard, McGee, Ziva and Tony were in an intense discussion about why Gibbs wanted the phone number and address of Director Shepard's lawyer. The conversation was abruptly ended when Ziva's ninja senses detected Vance's arrival.

"Agents McGee, David and DiNozzo, we have a new case, I'm fighting for jurisdiction now so I want you to come up with leads before Interpol return my phone call." With that, three thick files were dropped on McGee's desk, and the director left them to their work.

"Wow, this is heavy stuff," exclaimed McGee as he read the FBI incident report and Interpol case file.

"I remember these officers, some of my fathers best, although as I recall they are still working for Mossad, something seems sharky."

"Fishy, Ziva, something seems fishy." Corrected Tony.

The co-worker banter came to a quick end when Gibbs and Abby returned to the office. Abby didn't greet anyone but headed straight down to her lab. Gibbs, however, began barking orders for their latest case almost immediately, and his agents who knew better than to argue got to work immediately.

After several more hours with no viable leads coming up, Gibbs sent his team home to rest
