Crackers
A guest asked for a oneshot of Emma enjoying Neal's toddler snacks. Snow sees her munching on them. Instead of getting upset like Emma thinks she will, Snow just starts buying double so Emma and Neal each have their own set.
Can I just say, it's been lovely having a wee list to work through again. Love being able to daydream over these chapters 3.
That was odd. Snow was sure she had only got the Ritz crackers with the last shopping a few days ago. She only gave Neal one with his lunch every so often. It didn't make sense that there were only a few left in the packet. Was she wrong, had she not got them last time? Was she having mommy brain? Her brow furrowed. This truly was a mystery.
"Come on, little love." Snow cooed to her son, picking him up. "Looks like we need to make a little trip to the store."
It became clear a couple of days later where Neal's snacks were going. It was rather undeniable when Snow walked in to Emma nibbling on them.
"Ah." Snow said, making Emma jump. She turned and looked at her mom like a deer caught in the headlights, her face going beetroot. "So that's where the Ritz crackers are going, Nealy. Sissy's belly." Snow told her son who was perched on her hip. She smiled over to her daughter, who looked horrified.
"I'm sorry." Emma said quickly. "They're just so good! I used to love them whenever I got the chance to have them as a kid. They make me feel nostalgic. I'll get some new ones for Neal…"
"Emma, don't be silly." Snow said gently, coming over and brushing a thumb against Emma's cheek. "We don't have food in this house that's for specific people. Anything you want to eat, you eat. Just try to let us know if something is running low so we add it to the list. Ok?"
"Uh, sure." Emma said, not expecting to get off so lightly. As a kid, if she had got caught eating food that didn't belong to her there would have been major trouble. Snow smiled, taking Neal through to give him his lunch.
The next day, when Emma opened the cupboard to get herself an after work snack, she would find two packets of the crackers there. Emma smiled shyly. She knew why. Her mom had got an extra packet so she and Neal could each have one and Emma didn't need to feel guilty about eating them. Sometimes living with her parents wasn't such a terrible thing.
