Long or high

I'd rather live in books asked for a oneshot of Emma and Neal being twins in our world with some daddy Charming bonding when he has to tire them out for Snow.

Based off a game my dad played with my big brother and I when we were little.

30 chapters till 3000!

"Ok, little lady, your shot. Long or high?" He asked, holding the ball in his hands. He was pretty sure he already knew what the answer would be, but he always liked to give them the choice. Emma smiled, warming Charming's heart (as it always did) her beautiful toothless grin.

"High!" She called back. Charming chuckled, so he was right. He always gave both Emma and Neal the choice when they played this gave with every kick he gave, but nine times out of ten they picked high.

"Ok baby girl, get ready!" Charming called over to her. Charming dropped the ball over his foot and booted it up into the air. To him, it was a simple mid-high kick, but to both his kids, it looked like the ball was scraping against the stars themselves. Emma focused intently on the ball. She ran quickly to where it looked like it was coming down, keeping her eye on the ball like her daddy had taught her, and held her arms out ready. The ball came plummeting back down to Earth. Emma was ready. She moved her hands in to catch the ball. It hit her arms with quite a force. She stumbled backwards, clutching the ball to her chest tightly. She fell back on her bottom on the muddy ground, but with the most massive smile on her little face. She got up, holding the ball aloft like a trophy.

"I caught it daddy!" Emma yelled triumphantly.

"You sure did Emmy. Great job!" Charming praised her. He withheld a grimace at the state of her jeans now. He was sure Snow wouldn't mind. She'd been working overtime to get her reports ready for school. She was so exhausted after parents' night that she simply needed a day to sleep. With twin six year olds at home, lie-ins were a precious commodity. So Charming, living up to his name, offered to take their two little rascals out for the day and rid them of their energy so when they came back in the evening they'd be good as gold for their mommy. Not that he minded in the slightest. He loved every chance he got to spend with his gruesome twosome. His kids were growing up so fast. How were they in kindergarten already? It seemed like only yesterday he and Snow came through the wardrobe with them both coming into the world moments after. That was still a bitter point in their lives. With Emma and Neal growing up, who knew for how much longer they would believe their parents stories of castles and knights in shining armour? Charming shook himself. It would do no good dwelling on what might be. Instead, he and Snow agreed to focus on the here and now. On their two amazing children and every moment they had with them, muddy jeans and all.
