Vienna, Austria, 2016
"Where is he?!" A very angry Kass burst into the room.
"Security!" called Agent Ross.
"It's okay, she's with us," Nat told him.
"Ms. Konstantin has arrived, Boss," alerted F.R.I.D.A.Y.
"Yeah, I got that," replied Tony.
"Where's Stark?!" Kass was practically shoving her way past agents and through the halls and rooms to get to him.
"She's very upset, Boss. She only calls you by your last name when she's angry."
"Yeah, FR.I.D.A.Y., I got that too."
"Give it back!" she cried, finally finding him. She had him cornered. "That's my suit!"
"Technically, it's mine, and now it belongs to the government."
"No, it's my suit, you just added some upgrades to it."
"No, it's an upgraded version of your suit that I made."
"That's not fair!"
"Well welcome to the real world, Kass. Life isn't always fair."
"I never signed the stupid document!"
"Well you should have! You just don't like playing by the rules."
"Oh, says the man who just loves to play by his own rules."
"Not anymore."
"All right, Mr. Perfect."
"Don't start-"
"No, you've started this! And you're being real immature - and all because I wouldn't marry you!" With that she stormed from the room, letting out of string of what sounded like curses in Russian.
"You want to talk about it?" Nat asked.
"Not really, but thanks. You know how he can be."
"Oh, yes."
A blonde woman came over to them. "Kass, this is Agent Sharon Carter," Nat introduced. "Formerly Agent 13 with S.H.I.E.L.D."
"Hi." The two women shook hands in greeting. "Kazimiera Konstantin. Former thief and mercenary."
"So we've got another one on our hands, huh?" Sharon said to Nat when Kass left them, lowering her voice, nodding towards both Kass and Liv, who bared a striking resemblance to each other.
"Don't look at me, I have no idea," agreed Nat. "None of us do."
"Kass seemed pretty upset," Steve remarked, sitting in the glass-enclosed boardroom with Tony.
"Yeah, well, we're - things are just complicated right now." Tony sighed. "We're kind of-"
"Pregnant?" Steve tried.
"Uh, no. We're taking a break."
"Oh. I'm sorry, Tony."
Tony shrugged. "It is what it is."
"You want to talk about it?"
"Not really, no. In her defense, I'm a handful, as she's constantly reminding me."
"Wait it out, it'll all work out. There's been a lot of change recently - everyone's a little tense at the moment."
"You know, as I recall, you're not Mr. Romance yourself," Tony said, clearly irritated with the conversation. "So can we wrap this up and can you just sign the damn papers?"
"Please tell me you brought a suit!" cried Nat as she and Tony rushed up the stairs, alarms blaring around them and throughout the building.
"Sure did. It's a very nice Tom Ford, three piece, two button - I'm an active-duty non-combatant."
"Follow me!" cried Sharon, dashing ahead of them.
Tony went in to confront Barnes first.
"We're in position," Nat told him over the radio.
Tony jumped in, but even with his tech, Barnes was a determined and intense force.
Suddenly, Barnes bent over as though he had been struck. Then he was shoved to the side, then struck again. But no one was currently fighting him, or so it appeared.
"Hands off my man, Bro!" Kass suddenly appeared, deactivating her tech.
"Where did you get that?!" Tony cried.
"Where do you think?! I stole it!" she yelled back. "Right out from under your nose!"
Berlin, Germany
Tony sighed. "All right, I've run out of patience-" He cupped his hands around his mouth and called out, "Underoos!"
Cap's shield was swiped from his hands by some sort of - string? Webbing? And someone in a red and blue suit - clearly Stark tech - landed nearby.
"Nice job, Kid."
"Thanks! Could have stuck the landing better," said a young man's voice. "It's just, new suit and all - but it's nothing, it's perfect, Mr. Stark, thank you."
"Yeah, we don't really need to start a conversation."
"Okay. Cap, Captain-" The new guy saluted. "Big fan. Spider-Man."
"Yeah, yeah, we'll talk about it later-" Tony tried again.
"Hey everyone." Spider-guy waved.
"You've been busy," Steve remarked.
"And you've been a complete idiot! I'm trying to keep you from tearing the Avengers apart."
"You did that when you signed. Kass-"
"Whoa!" Spider-guy was suddenly knocked off the truck he was standing on, thrown to the pavement. Cap's shield lifted itself into the air, seemingly on its own.
Until the tech was de-activated, revealing Kass.
"Wow." Tony scoffed. "And I thought this day couldn't get any worse." But now he was staring at his girlfriend, standing on Cap's side.
"Lang!" She threw the shield, someone else appearing seemingly out of nowhere.
"I believe this is yours, Captain America!" Scott proudly held out the shield to Cap.
"You okay, Kid?" Tony asked.
"Yeah, yeah I'm good!" Spider-guy jumped to his feet.
"Wait, he's a kid? Did I just knock down a kid?" cried Kass. She looked to Tony. "That's not fair - he's not legally old enough to sign, so you're just using him!"
The two sides stood facing one another. Tension hung heavy in the air.
Tony had ordered that the whole airport be evacuated. So it was just them.
"Hey, you and Barnes head for the jet," Kass told Cap. "We'll do our best to clear a path for you."
"Copy that."
Both sides began charging towards each other.
"Shit," mumbled Kass.
The confrontation turned out to be a total mess. Both sides were equally determined. Cap's side did out number Tony's, which worked out seeing as Cap and Barnes's main objective was to get to the jet. When it became clear that the whole team would not be making it to Siberia, the others fought to make sure Cap and Barnes could escape, even if it meant their own capture.
A blast struck the walkway above Kass, which gave way directly over her, not leaving her a moment to react-
She could barely hear over the commotion, but she thought she may have heard Tony yell, "KASS!"
But there was only a clang! and a groan, and she turned to see the Spider-kid had caught the walkway before it fell. He wasn't even straining under the weight of it.
"Hey, thanks, Kid."
"Yeah, no problem. You know, Mr. Stark told me all about you."
"Oh yeah? About how much of a bitch I am?"
"No, he wouldn't stop going on and on about you. Man, he really likes you-"
"Save it, Kid." She ran off to rejoin the fight, leaving him standing there holding up the walkway.
"I don't suppose you know anything of Konstantin's current whereabouts," Secretary Ross demanded as Tony left the prison.
"No, why would I?"
"You were romantically involved, I was told."
"Not anymore. Good luck tracking her down. Let me know if you do. Call me sometime - I love to watch the line blink." With that, Tony climbed onto the awaiting helicopter.
"Incoming message, Boss," altered F.R.I.D.A.Y.
"Who from?"
"Ms. Konstantin. It says, 'Have urgent message. You know where to find me.'"
And he did.
Having so much fun adding Kass into the movie storylines! :)
Thank you so much for reading and I hope you enjoyed! :)
