Take me back home- part 2

CharmingsDaughter asked for a oneshot of a sequel to Ch2974 "Take me back home" where Snowing confront James on how he's been treating Emma and decide to take her back with them to New York.

"This can't be real." David protested, refusing to believe the evidence in front of him. "We're being pranked, there must be cameras around here somewhere." He added, looking around the hallway. He couldn't look at James any longer, it was too creepy. Meanwhile, Mary Margaret couldn't take her eyes off him. No, this was no prank. No amount of makeup could create such a near-perfect replica of her husband. He was a dead ringer for David. True, there were subtle differences. For example, this James seemed to be missing the scar David had on his chin, but to Snow, that just made it all more convincing. James turned his attention angrily to Emma.

"If anyone is pranking us it's her." He said, roughly pointing a finger at Emma. "What the fuck have you done this time, you little hooligan? Why I agreed to take you in I'll never know. You're nothing but trouble." Snow's brow furrowed. She didn't like the way this man was talking to Emma at all.

"Don't blame her. She's clearly onto something, whether we all knew it or not there's no denying we're related. If you're Emma's uncle, that means David is related to her to. If you're twins and didn't know about each other, there must be at least one other sibling. You must know, you have custody of her, where are Emma's parents?" James shrugged.

"Don't ask me. The social just showed up with her two years ago. Said I was her closest living relative on their books and I'd get an allowance for housing her." David and Mary Margaret couldn't believe it. James had only taken the child in because there was money involved. "Not that she's worth the trouble. She eats more than the allowance alone, never mind the rest of the money it takes. She knows the score, as soon as she's eighteen, unless she's earning her keep, she's out on her ear. That's if I can put up with her that long."

"Well that won't be necessary." David cut in. He didn't even need to ask Mary Margaret, he knew she would agree with him. "We'll take Emma back to New York with us." Emma's face beamed. James didn't look so keen.

"I might not like the brat, but that allowance is still useful." He pointed out. Neither David nor Mary Margaret could believe he would be so emotionless over losing his niece, but care so much about the money.

"We won't be claiming any money for her." Mary Margaret said through gritted teeth. The subtle message clear: they wouldn't mention the change of circumstances if he didn't. This seemed to placate James. He shrugged.

"Suits me just fine then." He said, stepping to the side. "Get your stuff, kid." He said emotionlessly. Emma slipped past him to gather her possessions. She couldn't wait to get out of here.

"I'll help you Emma…"

"It's ok." Emma cut in. "There isn't a lot to pack." David and Mary Margaret understood. With every penny a prisoner for James it was no surprise Emma had few things of her own.

Emma came out a few moments later with a rucksack sung over her shoulder.

"Well…bye Uncle James, maybe I'll see you around." Emma said awkwardly.

"Don't count on it." James grumbled as he stepped back inside and closed the door on the new family. Emma didn't care, it was good riddance for her too. She turned, grinning, to her parents.

"Thanks for that." She said. "I wasn't expecting for things to move that quickly, especially since you don't believe that you're my parents yet." Emma pointed out. Mary Margaret smiled warmly at her.

"However you're related to us, we're family, we can't deny that. We weren't leaving you here as a cash cow. You can put this life behind you, Emma. From now on, you're with us." Mary Margaret assured her. David carefully put his hand on Emma's shoulder. Normally, neither he nor his wife were quite so impulsive, but they both just knew this was the right call. Emma could not be happier. Sure, her parents weren't quite up to speed yet, but at least she was going home with them. It would be easier to break the curse that way. Then everything would be back to normal.
