The whole MCRT slowly developed a routine over the following weeks, rotating as to who would be with Eliana and who would work. Eliana was making massive gains at the hospital, she could now move her feet by herself, transfer herself into a wheelchair with Gibbs or Ziva's help, recognise when she needed to check her blood sugar levels or was about to have a seizure, eat without an NG tube, communicate her needs through ASL and speak several single-syllable words in a variety of languages.

"I'm very happy to say this Eliana, you are ready for day-patient therapy! Once we have sorted out where you are going to live and made sure it is fully accessible you will be sleeping at home with Agent Gibbs and then coming to the hospital Monday to Friday for therapy. How does that sound?" Announced Dr Moore.

Eliana signed that she was happy and had a massive grin to reinforce her point. The MCRT were all smiling and congratulations were given, everyone happy that Eliana would be allowed out of the hospital. Gibbs was sitting on Lia's bed with his arm around her shoulders, pressure helped Eliana cope with emotions and her excitement was beginning to bubble over.

Eliana enquired how long it would take for the house to be ready and Gibbs explained that the occupational therapists were at his house completing a final check. With everything going well Eliana would be home tonight.

Gibbs was now Eliana's legal guardian and so his house had to undergo a great many changes to make it accessible. Gibbs himself was also changing, he was having to learn how to cook for Eliana! Stairlifts had been added, doorways widened, countertops lowered and a ramp by the doors had been just some of the changes to the man's house. He didn't mind though, Gibbs already loved Eliana like his own and had promised to protect her and care for her just as Jenny would have done.

Gibbs' phone rang and he saw it was the occupational therapy home assessment team he stepped outside hoping that everything would be ready.

"Hello, Mr Gibbs, I can confirm that the house meets the requirements for Eliana to come home. I have already let Dr Moore know so she should be round with discharge papers soon." Gibbs breathed a sigh of relief when he heard all was well and saw Dr Moore approaching him. Gibbs happily signed the papers and both headed into Eliana's bedroom to tell her the good news.

Eliana looked like she was about to burst when Dr Moore and Emily came in with her wheelchair and several bags. Tony, Jimmy, Abby and McGee began to pack Eliana's belongings into the bags, whilst the 14-year-old had arrived in the country with nothing but the clothes she wore, her new family had showered her with gifts. Gibbs helped Eliana transfer into the wheelchair and phoned Ducky who was with Ziva at Gibbs' house making final preparations for Lia's homecoming, to let him know they were about to leave.

Gibbs drove Tony and Eliana back to his place, Tony was pleasantly surprised by Gibbs' driving as not once did Tony fear for his life. The boss did not curse at a single driver nor did he run any red lights, Tony was almost worried but figured his boss was driving smoothly so he didn't scare Eliana. When they arrived home, Eliana smiled at the house, her occupational therapist had shown her lots of pictures taken by McGee and Abby so that the change wasn't so much of a shock for Eliana. The house looked familiar but the sounds and smells were all new and Eliana sat quietly as she waited for Gibs and Tony to unload her wheelchair, taking everything in.

"Lia, you okay?" Asked Gibbs, attracting Eliana's attention, she nodded and signed that there were lots of new sounds and smells. Gibbs replied, signing that she would get used to them in time. Gibbs transferred Eliana to the wheelchair and they headed to the house, once inside, Eliana smiled widely, everyone was here to welcome her home.

Ziva gave her little sister a big hug and congratulated her on coming home although the whole team knew that there was still a long road ahead.
