Reasons to be clingy- part 2

Another one from me since the request list is quiet again haha. Another chapter I wanted a sequel for was 1881: Reasons to be clingy. So, here's what I would have done next. Trigger warning for the theme of miscarriage.

Emma didn't really know how to respond to her mom that day. She didn't want to act like anything was normal, how could it be? Their family had lost a baby. On the other hand, she didn't want to force her mother to dwell on the situation. It was a hard thing to navigate. So while they sat together on the couch watching some trash on the TV, Emma said nothing. She acted like she was watching the cheesy movie that was on, but in reality, her mind was racing. Snow knew this, and decided it was maybe time to broach the subject.

"It's ok if you want to talk about it." Snow said quietly. "I won't break." Emma stiffened. Her mother seemed to have a way of reading her that very few people ever had.

"I don't really know what to say." Emma admitted. "I don't really know what to feel." Snow smiled sadly at her daughter, turning on the sofa to face her.

"Whatever you're feeling is ok to feel." Snow reminded her, knowing Emma had difficulty with her emotions. She reached out and placed her hand on Emma's cheek. Emma blinked hard, her eyes becoming watery. "You also don't need to be strong for me, Emma. That's not your job. Your father and I can look after ourselves and each other. We're dealing with this, it's important that you do to." Emma didn't need any more coaxing. She burst into tears that she had been holding back since she found out the night before. Snow was relieved, she knew Emma needed this. She scooted closer and pulled Emma into her arms, allowing her to just cry it out. Snow allowed herself to shed a few more tears too. The moment was, however, short-lived.

"Well, isn't this touching." Came a sleazy voice from the doorway. Snow immediately stood up, shielding Emma as best she could. She wasn't surprised George had shown up here.

"Get out." Snow snarled. "Enjoy what little freedom you have left. My husband is looking for you, and he will find you. When he does, you won't be seeing the light of day for a very long time." Snow warned him. George just smirked. He wasn't scared of Snow White.

"David will never find me. Even if he does, my damage will have been done by then." He said, looking past Snow to Emma. Snow's hands balled into fists.

"Over my dead body are you taking her." Snow growled. Emma stood up beside her mother.

"I'm not really in the mood to be kidnapped either, thanks." She added. Her magic was still shaky, so she knew she couldn't rely on it to get them out of this situation. Neither of them had weapons on them, so it looked like they were down to hand-to-hand combat. Luckily, that was something both mother and daughter had some experience in.

"Well Snow, if that's the way it has to be, so be it. I told you once before that David would know the pain of not being able to have a family. Don't think because you found a loophole I've given up. Losing Emma will destroy you both…and from what I've heard, that water was only good for one child. You won't be able to replace her." George said, glancing at Snow's stomach.

"Having another child would never replace Emma, but they wouldn't need to anyway, because you're not taking my daughter." With that, Snow launched herself at George. She didn't care what it took, neither she or Charming were losing a second child this week. George fought back, and fought back dirty. If it had only been him verses Snow, there was a chance he might have got the upper hand through his dirty fighting tactics, but Snow wasn't alone, Emma was fighting right by her side. Together, they were able to take George down and secure him with Emma's handcuffs. Snow quickly called Charming who was able to get George securely back in his cell, for good this time. He then came back home to make sure Snow and Emma were alright. Both insisted they didn't need to get checked over at the hospital. Like mother, like daughter.

"Safe to say he won't be having any proper food for quite some time." Charming growled. Nobody laid their hands on his family. Emma shifted awkwardly.

"What he said, was it true?" She asked. "The water from the lake, was it only enough for you to have me? Is that why you lost the baby?" She asked, feeling dreadful. Her parents looked at her with such sadness. They could kill George for making Emma think any of this was her fault.

"That's not how the lake works, Em. Once you're healed, you're healed." Charming assured her. Snow stepped forward and took Emma's hand.

"What happened to me was just a terrible thing that happens to women sometimes. It's awful, and it's painful for all of us, but it had nothing to do with George's curse. That's long gone. None of this is your fault, Emma." Emma nodded, but still found herself shaking. All of them desperately wished they didn't have go through this situation at all, but unfortunately fate is not always on our side.
