AN: Chapter 2 to my saying goodbye to Destiny characters that are going to die in the game Destiny 2. Last chapter we saw Sloane sacrificing herself to destroy the dark Pyramid ships. In this chapter, we'll be seeing Asher's final moments. Without further ado let's go.

Asher watched as the Young Wolf left him for the last time on Io. He was thinking if he could leave like a message for him or something, like a letter but…Asher shook his head. He has a lot of unending tasks and works he needs to do. Asher looks to the giant dark Pyramid looming over the distance.

"This isn't over," Asher muttered. He knew what he had to do.

Much later he began grabbing his equipment (but not much equipment). He checked everything needed to begin his journey to the Pyramidion. He walked and walked while avoiding enemies like the Cabal and Taken, fighting when he needs to. Unbeknownst to Asher however a couple of individuals were following him to the Pyramidion. Asher kept on walking and walking until finally he reached the gate to the Pyramidion.

"There it is," he said to himself. "Now, off to go inside."

Asher waved his arm at the gate while disabling Vex security. The gate opened as Asher continued his way inside.

"Strange…I didn't see any Vex," Asher said. "Probability of meeting the Vex are high enough…but this…is extremely unusual."

"Yeah, you can say that again."

Asher jumped as he looked behind him with his weapon at the ready. He saw Isla, Caleb and Wave standing behind him. Asher sighed in annoyance.

"You all gave me a heart attack I tell you! Now, what're you all doing here? Shouldn't you all go back to the city. Don't tell me Zavala asked you all to forcefully drag me back to the city because I'm not going back"

"Well…the Young Wolf DID reiterate Zavala's wish for you to go back," Wave, the Hunter pointed out. "Come on, come back with us. I know not everyone likes you but we don't want to lose such a brilliant mind like you."

"Your persuasion won't work on me Hunter. I stand by my decision. Nothing will change mine."

"Asher," Isla began. "Maybe we can-"

"You too Warlock, I will NOT be persuaded," Asher cut her off.

"Damn it," Isla cursed.

"Yeah, not even your 'Warlock Persuasion' is gonna work," Wave slightly joked.

"Alright, how bout we put a call for you to Zavala," Caleb advised.

"I already told him I'm not going back," Asher firmly stated.

"I know and he REALLY wants you to come back. Just talk to him. He already sent the Young Wolf to you."

Asher sighed in annoyance. "Fine, put him through."

"Alright, Alisha?" Caleb calls the female Ghost.

"Hmm?" she said as she appeared.

"Call Zavala."

"Right."

It took a few seconds as Zavala is on the line.

"Hello? Fireteam Destiny?"

"Commander, here's Asher. He wants to talk to you."

For the next 15 minutes Asher argued with Zavala of going back to the city. Asher argued that the answer might lie behind the Pyramidion along with his solution to his condition and on and on did the argument continue.

"I stand by my decision!" Asher stated.

Zavala sighed as he went quiet for a brief moment. "Asher I…I do not…wish to lose…anyone…anymore…not after since Cayde-"

"But you know why I have to do this," Asher's voice now became calmer. The Awoken scientist sighed. "What we are doing, What I, am doing it is all for the betterment of the last safe city on Earth. Do you not want that? Titans like you live to serve and protect the walls and her people. If I do make it out alive from this…I will return to the Last City immediately. There, is that better?"

"…I trust you to keep your word Asher," Zavala then spoke.

"On my life."

"Then…you…have my permission…"

"I owe you my thanks commander. And…if this is the end for me…then I suppose it is farewell. You may not be the best leader but…you've tried to your very best. Tell Ikora and Eris that I owe them my gratitude. Farewell commander…"

Alisha then cut the call between him and Zavala. The Awoken scientist looked at Fireteam Destiny, giving him a…look.

"What are you all looking at? If you're done here, I suggest leaving me and this planet now! I now have an extremely important task that I must do! Now leave!"

"Well, uh…couldn't we at least give you a send-off then?" Wave asked.

"Send-off? Why is that? I don't need a send-off while I'm going to do something important."

"What he means to say is, if this is gonna be the last time we're gonna see you, at least we could give you a send-off?" Isla reiterates.

Asher began thinking. This task he's going to undergo…there's a high chance that he might not make it out alive but with a huge amount of luck he could. But there's going to be a slim chance of him coming out alive on this one. Oh well then, won't hurt to have them assist him, for supposedly one last time…

Asher gave a sigh. "Oh, alright then. But on one condition."

"We're all ears," Caleb said.

"You three are to listen to whatever I say. Am I clear?!" Asher said. Fireteam Destiny nodded. "Good then. Now, off to the Pyramidion we go assistants."

Fireteam Destiny followed Asher inside. They began their trek along the corridors. Strangely enough there weren't any Vex attacking or even blocking their way.

"Strange…usually Vex would start raining lasers down on us," Isla said.

"It's because I disabled their security system so that they won't think about attacking. Since my arm is…well…one of them now," Asher's voice became strained at the last few parts.

As they kept on walking, they saw couple of Vex standing there doing nothing but staring at them as they walked by.

"Uuuuhhhh, should I be worried?" Caleb asked as he eyed the Vex staring at them. He's prepared to pull out his weapons in case if things go south.

"Again, you do not have to be worried, I've disabled the Vex security systems so they won't think of attacking," Asher assured. "You Titans always have itchy fingers like Hunters."

"AND for a good reason. Am I right or am I right?" Wave asked.

Asher just rolled his eyes. Typical of Hunters and Titans. But he couldn't help but feel that he was going to miss them if this plan of his didn't work. It's weird for him to actually feel like that but he does miss them. But why would he be having this feeling of missing them? Things like that are for pansies. A person like him is always busy with scientific achievements. Busy with finding solutions! The Awoken scientist mentally sighed. Maybe the Fireteam Destiny must have rubbed off on him. Same goes for the Young Wolf and the rest of the Guardians.

They continued walking through the corridors of the Pyramidion.

'Hmm, it seems that the Pyramidion is seemingly welcoming us-no…welcoming ME in,' Asher thought.

They passed through the laser grids only for the laser to back off from them. They passed through portals after portals as Vex continuously stared at them.

"We there yet?" Wave asked.

"Patience Wave, we'll be there," Alisha assured him.

"And besides, haven't you taken down Brakion before with them?" Asher asked the Hunter.

"Uh, no. That wasn't us. That was the Young Wolf's Fireteam," Isla corrected.

"Hmph," was all Asher said.

They were close to the location where Asher wants to go. The place where the Young Wolf's Fireteam slain Brakion, the Genesis Mind.

It was quite for a brief moment before Asher spoke up. "Assistants," Asher began as he stopped walking causing Fireteam Destiny to look at him. "I…never had the chance of…thanking all of you, and the rest of the assistants."

Fireteam Destiny looked at each other, wondering why Asher was suddenly having this talk. The Awoken scientist mentally sighed. He is very not good at talking about things like these but he'll try.

"You all have my utmost gratitude of assisting me with all my work. When you see the Young Wolf again…tell him I…owe him my gratitude also, for the all the work he has contributed and done…Also, before I undergo my work, I must warn you all." The fireteam now have their attention at Asher. "Whatever the Darkness offers you, do not and I mean DO NOT accept any kinds of offer from the Darkness. Whether it be power or anything it offers, never accept them. The Darkness always have a motive behind it. Swear to me and the citizens of the Last City that you will not accept any kinds of gifts that Darkness brings to you. Lest you all will fall under the influence of the Darkness and never again be the same. Well? Swear to me and the denizens of the Last City that you will reject the Darkness."

"Of course, we won't accept the Darkness," Caleb said with absolute conviction.

"Don't you worry about it," Wave replied casually.

"What they said," Isla then answered, seeing as her answer will be the same as hers.

"Good, now leave! I have one work that I must do alone! It's best you get out of here! Go!" Asher ordered.

The Fireteam of Guardians were taken aback before shaking their heads. It's Asher being Asher, what do they expect?

"Whatever, we gotta go anyway. See you around," Wave said. Fireteam Destiny turned back before walking away.

"I…cannot guarantee that…" Asher admitted. The three stopped as they looked at him. "If this is the end for me…then goodbye…"

"What're you talking about?" Isla asked but was gone unanswered as the Awoken scientist already entered the portal gate. Alisha then appeared.

"I'm curious, what is he doing in the Pyramidion anyway? Asher never told us what he's actually trying to do," the female Ghost said.

"Oh yeah," Caleb said, catching on.

"Asher, what're you trying to do?" Alisha asked him through the comms. "And what do you mean by 'I cannot guarantee that?' What's going on?"

There was silence on the other end of the comms.

"Promise me all of you," Asher's voice came, his tone now low. "To reject whatever the Darkness gives you. You all better go now. Goodbye…Guardians." The Awoken scientist turned off his comm.

"Asher!" Alisha called out.

Wave and Caleb ran to the portal only for it to disappear.

"Damn it!" Wave swore. "What's he trying to do?"

"Guys we got Vex coming in!" Alisha warned.

"Seriously?!" the three exclaimed.

Vex of all variety as they attacked them.

"Caleb, Ward of Dawn now!" Isla ordered.

Caleb stretched both his arms out to the side as a large purple energy dome appeared shielding them from the laser fire of the Vex.

"What do we do? Fight them?" Caleb asked.

Isla summoned her Dawnblade before looking at Caleb. "You know the answer by now."

Wave smiled. "Let's do this!"

The Hunter summoned his Arc Staff as they charged out of the shield dome. It took them 15 minutes to finish off every Vex in sight.

"That went well," Wave commented.

"What about Asher?" Caleb asked.

The three looked to the now closed portal as Isla sighed sadly.

"There's nothing we could do about him," she said. "Whatever he's doing it's not going to be good…" They all see the closed portal in front of them as they gave saddened expressions, the three hung in silence.

Back with Asher, the Awoken scientist closed the portal from his side using his Vex arm while also turning off the comms.

"Good luck, Guardians…"

He walked down the road leading to the place where Brakion, the Genesis Mind was destroyed. "Well, what do you know, it is a pit."

Suddenly he felt his heart swelling and tears flowing from his eyes. What is this he's feeling? Sadness? A person like him doesn't have any time for feelings…yet he can't help but just…he shrugged it off. He has no time for this. He continued to walk to the pit as tears kept on flowing from his eyes.

"This is it…"

He went down to the pit as he saw the Radiolarian lake flowing with Vex Milk above him. It's time. He reached out to the lake with both his arms as he brought the lake down on himself…

AN: And that's it for the story guys I'm gonna stop right there. So, what do you think guys? Is it good? Bad? Let me know what you guys think. And again, no I am not going to write the last stand of Vance. I don't like that Osiris-obsessed fanboy. Every second he'll be like 'Notice me Osiris Senpai!' And also, I feel like doing three chapters would be enough coz I have other stories I need to work on too. Please give me constructive feedbacks and constructive criticism, and don't be afraid to tell me which parts of the story I need to improve. This is Samuel Loegan saying, thanks for reading and I'll see you in the next chapter!
