Long journey

A guest asked for a oneshot of Emma being whiny about something and her parents tell her to stop being a baby. She responds with "but I am your baby".

Guest: Sorry, but that kind of thing has been done before, just with a different name.

Emma pouted sulkily in the corner. She didn't understand why she had to come to this stupid kingdom. She hated travelling. The roads always got too bumpy and she felt sick. Then she got cranky and wanted to nap, but she couldn't sleep because of how bumpy the roads were. Plus, it was always either way too hot, or way too cold in the carriage. Finally, it was just plain boring. So, being a typical seven year old, Emma decided to spend the whole trip (which was longer than a day's travel) asking her parents if they were there yet. No matter how many times she was told she would be informed when they were close.

"I'm bored." Emma whinged…for what felt like the millionth time. Snow and Charming tried to be patient with her. They knew these long trips weren't exactly fun, but Emma had plenty to amuse herself with.

"Well, you have parchment to draw on, and I offered to play I spy with you." Snow pointed out. Emma grunted, moving the parchment away from her to show her parents her opinion of those options.

"You could always try sleeping. That will take up lots of the time." Her dad suggested. Emma pouted at this suggestion.

"You know I can't sleep in the carriage." She complained, her bottom lip quivering. "I get a sore tummy."

"The road here is just fine. We've not hit any bumps on the way at all." Charming pointed out to his daughter. Both he and Snow knew she was just over-tired and cranky. She could sleep if she actually tried. She was just looking for them to feel sorry for her. "Come on Emma. You're always saying you're a big girl. Big girls don't whine on carriage trips. You sure did a lot of that when you were a baby though. Are you still a baby now?" Charming asked her. Emma's pout deepened. She didn't like that question at all.

"No." She insisted. "I'm not a baby…but I am your baby." She added. Snow and Charming bit their lips to stop themselves from laughing. Whenever Emma said she wasn't a baby anymore, that's exactly what they told her. That she was still their baby. It looked like their words were coming back to haunt them.

"Well yes, that's true." Snow said, pulling the tired little girl up onto her lap. "How about a story then, my baby?" Snow offered. Emma nodded wearily, her head resting heavily against her mother's chest.

Snow barely got halfway through her story before Emma was fast asleep. She and Charming exchanged smiles over their sleeping daughter's head. Maybe some sweet dreams would keep her entertained for a while.
