Two saviours- part 2
Secret Love Cara asked for a oneshot of a sequel to Ch2993 "Two saviours" where we see Ella and Thomas' conversation with Emma and ends with everyone having dinner together at Granny's.
"If there's an emergency you need to call first!" Emma called from the stock room. She was in the middle of searching for the right paperwork to request some updated technology. Now that the curse was broken and she figured she'd be hanging around, she thought maybe they should leave the eighties behind. The last thing she needed was some old biddy with a cat stuck up a tree.
"We're not here for police matters, Emma. We're here because we'd like to talk to you." Ella said calmly from the stockroom door. Emma froze. She figured something like this would happen soon. Although she thought her own parents would have the guts to do it themselves. She sighed, dumping down the pile of dusty paper she had been reading through.
"You've got ten minutes." She told them both. She then went back through to her office and sat down in her chair. Once she got this over with she could go back on with her normal life. Well, as normal as it could be with finding her biological parents were only a few years older and living around the corner. There was no getting rid of them for now though. Alex wanted to give Storybrooke a proper shot, and where Alex was Emma was.
"Firstly, we want to thank you." Ella said sincerely. "Thank you for always being there for our daughter when she needed someone. We're just sorry none of us could have been there for either of you." He told her. Emma shrugged. It wasn't like she got a choice in the matter. She had to be the strong one.
"You strike me as the sort of person who doesn't appreciate bullshit." Thomas said, gaining Emma's attention. She hadn't expected him to be so blunt (or accurate about her personality). "So I'll cut to the chase. Emma, none of us wanted this to happen. The curse caught us off guard. We knew the only option we had when Ella and your mom went into labour and had you both was to put you through the wardrobe. If the Evil Queen had either of you, then the other wouldn't survive. That was part of the prophecy. You both had to live."
"I know." Emma told him. "The kid told me all that. It doesn't change anything now though. I get it. We got given shit cards in life, but it was still the hand we were dealt. We've got to live with it now. I can't speak for Al, but I don't need parents. I've managed this far without them. I'm only sticking around because Al wants to, and I won't leave her." Emma suddenly gave the couple a dangerous look. "People tried to split us up a few times in our lives. We always made it back together. When we left the system, I promised I would never leave her again. I don't break my promises." Emma told them. The couple nodded.
"We would never ask you to." Ella told Emma. Emma nodded, telling that she wasn't lying. "We would never ask you to be any less close to our daughter. All we're asking is a chance to get to know her half as well…and maybe, for you to give your parents the same opportunity." Emma scoffed. That ship had sailed.
"Your parents were our best friends, Emma. Trust us when we say they're good people. They never wanted this. They wanted to be the best parents possible to you…"
"Well they went out of the running for that award when they put their newborn through a damn wardrobe into the unknown." Emma spat bitterly. Ella and Thomas understood. Both girls had every right to be angry. They just wished they understood they were being angry at the wrong people.
"That's not what they're asking for though, Emma. They're just asking for a chance to get to know who you are now. What you need now. If that's not parents, then they'll accept that and go with what you do need." Ella promised. This was true, however, Ella highly expected that (though she masked it well) Emma needed parents quite badly. Emma sighed, tapping her foot against the floor. Maybe they were right. If nothing else, it would get Mary Margaret and David off her back and she could be left alone.
"Fine." Emma agreed. "I'll meet with them." Ella and Thomas grinned from ear to ear. They couldn't believe this had actually worked!
"Thank you." Thomas said as they stood up. "We're meeting them for dinner at six tonight…I think Alexandra is coming too." Thomas said nervously. Now Emma understood. They'd parent trapped them in reverse. Emma just couldn't wait to get this dinner over and done with.
A few hours later, and Emma and Alex were standing outside Granny's.
"You look fine." Emma complained as Alex pulled out her compact yet again. "Do you really think they'll care though? Not like they'll spot a hair out of place and just call the whole thing off." Emma grumbled. Alex knew Emma's mood was just her own nerves playing up.
"Never hurts to make a good first impression, like wearing your good leather jacket you only pull out for special occasions." Alex pointed out. Emma pulled the jacket around her, her face going pink.
"Whatever, let's just get this over with." Emma mumbled, pushing the door open. They quickly saw all four parents in a large booth up near the back. They smiled warmly at the sight of their daughters, scooching closer together to give them room to squash in.
"Thanks for coming." David said to Emma, who just shrugged in response. She still wasn't sure how she felt about this.
Where Emma clammed up with nerves, Alex bubbled over. She was soon talking a mile a minute, retelling stories from their childhood to all their parents. Emma interjected occasionally, mainly when Alex was making her seem nicer or cuter than she actually was.
By the end of the evening, Alex at least felt like she was getting somewhere with her parents. Maybe they could have a relationship. Emma wasn't sure about that yet, but she at least felt like she could meet up with them privately and give it a shot. That was something for her.
