Since as far back as Yona could remember, Yona had always been a little different than everyone else around. And no, it wasn't the hair. Life would've been so much easier for Yona if it was. Was Yona broken? Yona didn't know.

Everyone insisted on calling Yona princess. Everything was Princess this, Princess that. Because Yona was a girl. It didn't bother Yona per se, but it didn't feel exactly right either. Was it wrong to feel this way?

There was one instance that stood out to Yona. There was this memory of Yona's that just spoke and it wasn't easily forgettable either. When Yona was younger and the King, Grandfather, was still alive, he had once looked little Yona dead in the eye and then commanded that the two have tea together.

Now, that wasn't very interesting, but what did pique Yona's interest was the way Grandfather addressed Yona. Yona could remember exactly what he had said when he declared the two have tea.

He had said, "Come boy, you will sit and have tea with me,"

Yona had asked why he used the word 'boy', but Yona never did get a direct answer from Grandfather, even if he did continue to address Yona as 'boy' until the day he died. It confused Yona, but then again, it didn't upset Yona either.

It happened a long time ago, but it still stuck out in Yona's mind.

But now, Yona kind of understood. She was a war veteran now. He had shot and killed nameless soldiers and taken a sword to many more. They had seen everything from the front lines and more.

Yona knew that they had a woman's body, but also housed the spirit of the deceased King Hiryuu in their head. She didn't mind being a princess anymore. He was just happy that he had friends and people that cared about him. They didn't mind what people called them.

Her once long hair had been cropped close to not get in the way of her bowstring. He'd started wearing pants rather than dresses for better movement. They'd still definitely blush when in close proximity of Hak.

She just wanted to live. And that's what he did. They wouldn't just survive, they would live. And as long as Yona had friends, Yona was happy.

AN: I hope I captured what I was thinking in my mind ok. I know I'm not the best of authors yet.
