The newest Charming

Little Angel FanFics asked for a oneshot of Emma telling her parents she'd pregnant with Hope, then her birth, finally the first interaction between Hope and Henry.

Emma didn't know why she was so nervous. She was married. Her parents loved her spouse. She had a stable job, her own place and a car. It wasn't like she was in any way incapable of looking after a baby. Yet still, she was nervous about telling her parents she was pregnant again.

Emma chose her moment carefully. She waited until Neal was at his karate lesson. She wanted to be able to do this privately.

"Mom, dad, there's something I wanted to talk to you about." Emma began nervously. Snow and Charming had to work hard to keep straight faces. Did she not realise they'd known for weeks? Snow leaned in to Charming.

"You don't think she's going to ask where babies come from, do you? Only that might get a little awkward." Snow said in a stage whisper.

"What? No." Emma said, shaking her head. "No, although, funnily enough, it does have to do with babies. Or, more specifically, a baby." Emma placed her hand over her belly. "I'm pregnant." She told them. Snow and Charming broke into massive grins.

"Finally!" Charming said excitedly. "Now we can talk about it!" Emma's jaw nearly hit the floor.

"You knew?" She said, not believing it. Charming laughed.

"We've had breakfast together at the station every morning since we became partners. A few weeks ago you suddenly tell me you're eating it at home beforehand? Yeah, right. For someone who can detect lies so easily, you're not the greatest fibber yourself." Charming told her. Emma blushed. Now that she thought about it, it was a pretty stupid cover up. Although in her defence, she had been up for hours with morning sickness by that point already. Emma was flooded with relief. Now she could become as excited about her pregnancy as her parents were.

Months passed, and Emma's stomach began to swell like an overblown balloon. By the end of her pregnancy, she was begging for the baby to just come out already. That didn't mean that when her labour began she didn't wish for it to stop. People say you forget your labour pains when you have your baby. Those people are wrong. Emma remembered her labour pains with Henry very vividly. They were exactly like these ones. What made it worse was Emma was going to have to go through it all alone again, even though she was married this time. Someone had to go and get Henry to tell him he was going to be a big brother soon. It seemed Henry was proving difficult to find. There had only been sporadic contact between Emma and her spouse, just enough for Emma to know even though they were taking longer than planned they were ok. They just couldn't find Henry. Emma hoped her boy was ok too. Now they would both miss the birth. There was no way Emma would get message to them quickly enough. She had been alone when her waters broke and had dialled for an ambulance. Now she'd be alone through this birth…or so she thought.

When Emma heard the footsteps thundering closer and closer to her private cubicle she was alarmed. Was there a problem detected on the ultrasound? Was her baby ok? She relaxed when her mom tore through the door.

"Are you ok? Have I missed anything?" Snow asked, coming in. Emma shook her head.

"Not ready yet." She grunted through the pain.

"Just about though." The midwife urged Emma. Snow came over and kissed Emma's forehead.

"You're doing so well baby." Snow praised her. "Your dad will be here soon. He's dropping Neal off with Ella and Thomas. He'll wait outside for as long as it takes." Snow then got onto the bed behind Emma so Emma was resting against her.

"Ok, baby. Let's do this." Snow said, not able to contain her excitement. Her grandbaby was being born!

The birth wasn't as long as it had been with Henry. It still hurt like a bitch though. Emma was grateful her mom was there to help her in any way possible. Snow was just in awe to be there to see her granddaughter come into this world. To hear her first beautiful cries.

"Here we are, Emma, a healthy baby girl." The midwife said, placing the baby on Emma's stomach. Emma's eyes shone with tears as she looked down at her beautiful little girl. She had known she was having a girl for months, but it was still a beautiful moment. Emma knew the name they'd picked out for their baby was just perfect now.

"Hey Hope." Emma cooed. "I'm so glad to meet you." Snow peered over Emma's shoulder at little Hope. She was so perfect.

Once Emma and the baby were cleaned up, Snow went and fetched Charming so he too could come and meet their precious granddaughter. He was in just as much awe as Snow. This tiny baby had them all wrapped round her little finger already. Not long after Charming arrived, so did Henry. Much like Snow hours earlier, he came thundering into the room. As soon as he saw the baby in Charming's arms, he froze on the spot.

"Kid!" Emma greeted, holding her arms out for him. Henry smiled.

"Hey mom." He said joyfully, coming over and hugging her.

"I've missed you so much." Emma said, squeezing him. She pulled back. She had a million questions for him about his travels, but she had to know one thing first.

"Where's-"

"They'll be here as soon as they can. There was a few things that needed sorted out before we could both come back. Apparently you've been pining for me for months with your hormones all out of place so they suggested I should go first." Henry teased his mom. Emma playfully rolled her eyes. They weren't exactly wrong.

"Hey buddy, wanna hold your sister?" Charming offered. Henry's eyes lit up. He nodded. Charming came over and carefully placed the tiny baby in Henry's arms. He too was immediately captivated by little Hope and her tuffs of blonde hair.

"Hey little girl." He breathed. "My name is Henry, and I'm your big brother. I've been away for a while, and soon, I'll have to go away for some more again. That doesn't mean I don't love you though. I love you to the moon and back, sweetheart. I'll always be here for you. In our family, we always find each other. If you ever need me, that's all you'll need to bring me home to you." Henry promised his baby sister. Emma wasn't the only one who welled up at Henry's emotional declaration of love. It was the most perfect way possible of summing up their family's strong bond. No matter how many realms were between them, they would always find each other.
