Those first few days
SecretLoveCara asked for a oneshot of Snow telling Charming and Emma about the first few days being on the run from Regina.
I know you asked for your request to be changed, but I was ok with writing both. To clarify to everyone else, SecretLoveCara only asked for one request. I liked both, so I wrote both.
"Get it out! Get it OUT!" Snow and Charming heard Emma scream. They looked at each other, alarmed, before jumping up from where they sat and sprinting through to the living room. There they found their big, tough, sheriff daughter cowering in the corner from a tiny little spider.
"Really?" Charming asked. "A spider?"
"Oh, I'm sorry, do you find poisonous creatures a joke?!" Emma snapped back. Snow raised an eyebrow.
"In Maine?" She pointed out.
"It can happen!" Emma shouted. "Just get rid!" Emma demanded. Charming bit his lip to stop himself from laughing as he got a glass and a coaster and took the little critter outside.
"Well I can safely say the bandit life wouldn't be for you then, sweetheart." Snow pointed out. Emma rolled her eyes.
"I'll bet you weren't exactly fond of insects when you first became a bandit. Probably had your pals the birds come gobble them up." Emma grumbled. Snow laughed.
"Birds don't like to eat spiders if they can help it. Gives them heartburn." Snow told her. Emma rolled her eyes again. Of course it did. "Besides, spiders were the least of my worries when I started out. I was too busy learning to hide from Regina's guards to worry about some spiders." Snow pointed out. Emma suddenly felt a bit guilty. Of course her mom had bigger problems than insects when she first became a bandit.
"Was it that bad?" Emma asked quietly. Snow thought for a moment for the best way to answer that. Charming listened carefully. Snow had never really talked much about that period in her life.
"It was…difficult." Snow told them. "I had gone from being a princess with more love and comfort than I knew what to do with, to being a bandit with people out for my head. I was scared, I was cold and I was alone until I met Red. I didn't know how long I was going to last. There were days I thought I'd either dehydrate or starve to death. I don't really know how I made it through some days." Snow said casually. Charming and Emma didn't really know how to respond.
"I felt like that some days growing up." Emma said quietly. "I wasn't always in a very nurturing home." Emma explained. "I ended up malnourished on more than one occasion." Emma admitted. "So…I get you. Maybe spiders weren't the biggest of your worries." The room fell completely silent, just having some silent contemplation. They'd all suffered throughout their lives at different stages. Maybe now was a chance to put their pasts behind them for good.
