Remnants of the last Dragonborn- Chapter 4, I am Jaune Arc, first mage of Remnant
Rewrite
…
Changed it Jaune hasn't revealed his magic or alchemy…
The dragonborn made his way outside the camp to greet the Atlas group.
"Welcome, I'm glad you got my distress call." Jaune said, walking towards Ace ops leader Clover Ebi wearing his usual military attire as he was accompanied by a squadron of soldiers. Soon as Jaune took a few steps towards them the soldiers raised their rifle's.
"Halt!, On the ground now bandit scum!" A soldier demanded of Jaune.
"I think there is a misunderstandi-" Another soldier fired his weapon at the ground near his boots tearing up the earth creating small holes. Just as the soldier was about to most likely send another warning his way Clover stepped past the soldier waving his arm, giving some hidden order for his men to lower their guns.
"I apologise about that, I'm Clover Ebi as I previously stated, currently I am under orders to apprehend Raven Branwen and judging by the fact you came to willingly greet us, you wish to cut a deal in Raven's stead. Her middleman, Mr ?" Clover inquired politely.
"As I was trying to tell your men, this is a misunderstanding and frankly I'm insulted you accuse me of being one of her bitches. Also it's Arc, a pleasure Mr Ebi." Jaune gave a slight wave.
"A misunderstanding, huh?"
"The distress signal was from Raven Branwen's scroll I acquired to get the attention of whoever was available, lucky me Atlas was in the area, although it does raise a point why were you a specialist traveling out in the continent of Anima?" Raising a brow under his helm and folding his arms.
"That is classified information I'm afraid, if you have Raven's scroll am I correct to assume she isn't here?"
The armoured Arc shook his head. "Oh she's here alright, I have her ready and waiting for you, follow me." Jaune turned on his heels already walking back into the camp. Waving an arm to indicate for them she was this way.
Still feeling skeptical Clover ordered some men to remain at their posts and muttered a few words into his earpiece before following. Once past the destroyed gateway, Clover eyes significantly widened bodies littered the ground, multiple limbs, fingers and most noticeably heads having pained/shocked expressions as they lay not attached to anything.
"What did this, Mr Arc?" Clover asked the daedric clad man. When Jaune turned around to answer his question, the soldiers took a large step back as he opened his mouth.
"I thought it was obvious," Raising his left gauntlet covered hand pointing at his chest. "This was all me. Well that's a lie some of these bandits were victim to my conjured Dremora." Then he pointed towards the two creatures that wore similar armour but had glowing red rather than Arcs blue, whilst also lacking a helmet were some form of faunus with horns but the thing which told Clover they were neither a faunus or even some humanoid Grimm was the crimson skin that was definitely not a fashion choice.
Taking his gaze off the two 'Dremora' that Mr Arc called them, he saw his target Raven alongside a head count of around 80-90 bandits still breathing. Clover then heard a distinct 'Ahem' from his guide.
"You may send your men to collect them, my Dremora won't get in the way, I think it's time I inform you of what transpired here I'm confident you seek answers to what transpired." Clover nodded.
"That would be appreciated, MEN! Gather them up and put them on the transport holding cell, but leave Raven to me." Orders given the soldiers made haste gathering all the crippled or still paralysed men and women making their way back onboard. "General it's clear, you may now approach." Clover muttered into his communicator.
Clover turned towards Jaune and continued. "If you would hold off on your briefing of events the General would like to speak with you."
'The General, huh?' Jaune mused in his thoughts.
Walking through the carnage General James Ironwood had a composed figure as he noted the massacre of nearly a thousand bandits, he also noted bandit tribes foreign to Anima being present. Leaders of all the major tribes that plagued Remnants lands were either being ushered into his ships hold or dead at his feet.
Once Ironwood reached Clover and Arc's position, Clover saluted as his general approached.
"Sir, this is-"
Removing his helm from his head slowly, Jaune shoved his hair back effortlessly before extending a hand to the General. "Jaune Arc, sir. A pleasure. My father, David spoke of you fondly when speaking of his huntsman days." The general in kind shook his hand.
"So you're David's kid, I remember seeing a picture of you once when that father of yours shoved it in my face, you certainly take after him with your appearance." Ironwood wore an amused expression before it retreated just like his hand. "What bothers me however is that to my knowledge you disappeared from Beacons emerald forest over some time ago after slaying an impressive amount of Grimm for someone with falsified transcripts." His stern expression then changed to that of slight relief and worry.
"Mister Arc I am very much glad you are safe, Headmaster Ozpin has been increasingly worried since your disappearance and your family will be frilled knowing you're safe, I'm sure."
"Um, thank you General, I'm sorry but I figured you would have discovered my transcripts during the lead up to the festival but I am perplexed to your lack of hostility towards the apparent crime?"
Jaune wasn't overly shocked that the freaking General of Atlas knew, with what occurred during the Vytal festivals abrupt cancellation after the Headmaster of Haven. Lionheart was discovered to be leaking classified information and secrets to unknown parties, when he was captured the tournament was cancelled and it was announced to the media, students included, all academies would return in two weeks back to their schools.
That's all Jaune could remember of the events before the 'scattering', when he was still on Remnants the foreign students were only less than a week away from returning.
"Well in truth and embarrassment all academies at one time or the other receive someone claiming to have legitimate transcripts, last I recall Beacon's Qrow Branwen the greatest of Huntsman from Vale used fakes to enroll. Remember Mister Arc it's actions that speak volumes over what is written." James reminscend over certain students he taught that were also false transcript writers but with full authority and confidence he would stand by those students.
"Anyway General thank you but I feel we should discuss what happened here before-!" To Jaune's alarm a stray bandit got free from the soldiers and started running for the forest, yet faster than the soldiers could stun the man a lightning bolt was launched through the air killing the man due to the lack of aura. "Something like that happens, what?"
A very startled military leader looked at Jaune in pure shock. "Mister Arc what was that?"
"Oh! You mean the bolt of lightning, well that's related towards why I went missing, General." Rubbing his neck knowing he was going to have to explain the building blocks of magicka. What a drag.
"That was magic." Jaune caught the general muttering. Whilst Clover seemed on edge at Jaune's attack now realising this kid could attack the General at point blank range with lightning bolts.
"That's right General how'd you know? I mean that would make sense why you were coming to capture Raven since she wields it too." Jaune concluded in the wrong manner.
"Pardon could you repeat that Mister Arc, Raven, was using magic?" The general slowly asked.
"That's why I dismembered her arms, bitch kept trying to either impale me with ice or set me ablaze, though during the battle some bandits were spouting nonsense of a spring maiden like the fairy tale story but that's just a myth." Jaune shrugged and remembered some bandits in the background shouting a warning of run from the maiden and such will kill you.
"Raven is the Spring maiden? That's impossible, is it?..." The general kept rubbing his chin roughly thinking over what David's child had told him. Muttering to himself the entire time.
"General you okay?" Jaune asked confused about how the General was acting.
"Ah, forgive me I was lost in my thoughts, Clover escort Miss Branwen onto the carrier with extreme caution." Ironwood ordered. Clover followed with a salute before walking towards the armless bandit but was halted by the Dremora.
"Excuse me, Sirs but I must relieve you of Raven Branwen." Clover received no reaction, they were almost like statues.
Noticing the hold up Jaune raised his right palm open using a Banish Daedra spell, the two dremora returned to oblivion through an indigo portal.
"A rather impressive semblance you have Mister Arc." Ironwood complimented, but in truth he was probing Jaune for more information, not only did he claim to defeat a maidan, he shot a bolt of lightning that clearly didn't come from dust infused clothing and his physical appearance not only was he taller since the General last got a glimpse of him at Beacon but incredibly more muscular underneath that rather menacing armour.
"No such thing General, that was a conjuration based spell." He answered honestly not having a need for discretion at this point, Jaune carefully studied Raven unconscious body being lifted away by Clover in a bridal carry as he made for the aircraft.
"Spell? Conjuration?" Ironwood muttered whilst mentally noting everything Jaune was disclosing. "Mister Arc can you please disclose to me what happened here, whilst my soldiers investigate the camp of any stolen goods that we may return to those who became victims of these savages." Politely asked the General.
"Of course General also allow me to help in that endeavour." Raising his two arms out and targeting the floor Jaune conjures two Frost atronachs to help with the heavy lifting. "Okay you two help with bringing anything salvageable back to that ship over there, and don't scare the soldiers too much." Jaune sternly ordered. All this while every soldier including the general were slack jawed at the appearance of these two Ice goliaths, every step the atronachs took slightly shook the ground as they lifted crates of dust.
Jaune and General Ironwood walked to a non bloody area of the camp before he disclosed a half truth of the situation that happened. "- and that is the situation I was flung into. A group of individuals went around grabbing all the bandits they could discover and trapped them in a magic dome for almost a week here. I arrived, entered the camp, killed everyone who tried to kill me, fought Raven, turned out she had magic like myself, then I defeated her, sent a distress signal to get someone to give me an extraction back to civilization, followed by the arrival of yourself." Jaune concluded his explanation on the events that took place.
The General was trying to compose himself throughout the explanation, not only was the young man stating he possessed magic which he even demonstrated to himself proving his claim but lacked Aura yet still defeated Raven of all opponents, someone twice as experienced in combat.
"Mister Arc I can believe that you possess the magic usage capabilities but defeating an ex-huntress with decades of experience against yourself being only 18 yet you claim to have not received any help?" Ironwood could theorise multiple scenarios of Jaune unique magic since he could summon whilst controlling three of the five elements could defeat Raven but not without being dealt heavy damage as well.
"Apologies General but that's the truth just me, myself and I. However if you wouldn't mind I could use some rest after everything today and transportation back to Vale, I figured best to see the headmaster in person explaining my *Ahem* abrupt change." He chuckled nervously having no idea how to explain the situation to his former headmaster.
"Of course Mister Arc, I'll personally escort you back to Vale however I must ask of you to complete a rather tedious task." The General had a look and way he spoke that made Jaune very, very uncomfortable.
"Well if you're still taking me to Vale I'm sure I can complete this task without issue." Jaune despite not listening to his gut feeling smiled confidently.
Continent of Solitos, Atlas
Atlas CCT broadcasting room.
19 hours later…
Jaune's life flashed before his eye's and cursed himself of the past for agreeing to this stupid 'task' as Ironwood put it. Although he didn't inform Jaune of this 'task' until the last minute so there was no opportunity to escape. The legendary dragonborn was cursing Ironwood's existence to every Daedra and Aedra he knew of for the disastrous situation he was in.
Jaune entered the room wearing a freshly acquired suit, white shirt, black pants, black blazer and black dress shoes. The attire was so tight Jaune was distracting every woman present in the room, even getting a glance or two from the Ice princesses older sister. Every movement he made caused his muscles to almost rip the top half of the ensemble to rags.
Don't even get him started on when he had the tailor to measure him for over an hour and for most of that time she spent with a nosebleed muttering filth the entire time and even stitching her scroll number into the inner layer of the blazer.
Anyway… On short notice General James Ironwood announced a press conference with the councils utmost urgency to release the positive news of over 17 different bandit tribes being dealt with. Jaune could admit to the positive effect it could have on Remnants inhabitants with those bandits being eliminated, but he just wished to get some rest instead of news coverage. However the dragonborn wasn't going to let this situation only favour Atlas with a wicked grin and remember the words of Aqua, Jaune hatched a very ingenious plan.
"- and finally Raven Branwen the biggest threat outside of the Grimm, the ex-huntress fell victim to Mister Arc's incredible prowess. Now onto-" The General continued drooling on about what Jaune accomplished, whilst showing the very few bandit survivors of the dragonborns wrath. Honestly Jaune did think taking her arms was overkill but running the risk of her attacking guards or worse, he shuddered at the thought.
During the trip to the Kingdom of Atlas, Ironwood informed Jaune that Raven's use of magic was classified information. The General also spoke of putting Jaune immediately into some kind of secret protection system when he returns to Vale, because he could use magic.
Soon the room turned to chaos as multiple reporters from different kingdoms began trying to get Jaune's attention…
"Apologies I, I was lost in my thoughts about what transpired recently, I'll answer Miss Ceruleans question first, please go ahead." Jaune spoke smoothly to the crowd getting them to calm down, some grumbling about her getting the first crack of attention.
"Thank you Mister Arc, Teal Cerulean Mistral news. How did a first year student of Beacon academy achieve such a feat of defeating 17 bandit tribes, with experienced leaders who have been previously reported to have killed fully trained huntsman/huntress especially Miss Branwen, so how?" She was ready to write down 'every' word ready for the biggest scoop of her career.
With a confident smirk, Jaune raised his left palm with his elbow on the podium he was sitting at. "Well Miss Cerulean this would be due to my 'Semblance'." Then at that mention Jaune used a simple conjuration spell to summon spectral wolves to his side, a total of four to be specific, as the wolves were giving small growls as they stared at the audience.
Shocked gasps at the appearance of usually hostile animals appearing from thin air was implying, snorts of displeasure at the fact this kid was being falsely praised at something he clearly couldn't achieve, probably the Ace ops did it instead and those with intrigue wanting for Jaune to elaborate the abilities of his semblance silently waited for the young man to continue.
"During an unscheduled outing into Emerald forest in Vale, a bandit belonging to Raven Branwen's tribe the man sedated me. Next thing I knew, I was imprisoned and on the continent of Anima. According to the bandits they said Raven's semblance was to create portals over large distances that's how they apparently got to Anima in the span of only a few hours." The reporters sucked in the information like a sponge not sparing any details.
"For under a week I became their plaything," Jaune then took off the shirt and blazer he was wearing, showing his wounds to the audience getting a few pale faces in response alongside the tattoos allowing the world and reporters to come to their own conclusion to what happened to him at the camp in his false telling of events.
"They constantly drained my aura to ensure I would become a hindrance. On the third day of my capture I discovered my semblance, I call it 'Conjuration'. I was desperate to be saved, alone in a tribe of murderers, rapists and who knows what else, so my aura responded it gave me the power to never be alone ever again." He scratched behind the ear of closest familiar before they all disappeared.
"If it wasn't for my semblance showing up in time I'd probably be dead," He then covered his top half actually getting a few displeasure like looks covering up his stunning muscular physique from the female gathered reporters. "A few days later other tribes began to arrive at the Branwen camp apparently Raven wished to achieve some form of hierarchy among the other tribes." Jaune slowed down allowing the reporters to catch up before starting again.
"The other tribes openly disagreed wishing to stay independent, after arguing for an entire day they went to sleep at that moment I chose to escape, breaking out of a pit they chucked me in, when I got to normal ground level I summoned these," Like so Jaune summoned two flame atronachs, they appeared with a feminine figure made purely of fire floating above the floor by a few inches. The room fell silent at the 'conjured' creatures before them, bright flashes of cameras blinded Jaune for a few moments before it settled down.
"I call them flame atronachs, they come from holding a slight amount of fire dust, using the dust as a catalyst they came into being, when summoned the atronachs got to work setting the camp ablaze. A good portion of the bandits lacking aura died at the unexpected fire in the camp." Jaune pretended to seem remorseful at taking a life to the reporters and those watching through the CCT to hold up his appearance of simply being a first year student of 17 years old, instead of being a 31 year old experienced killer of pretty much anything.
"As the bandits tried to extinguish the fires I got to work grabbing a makeshift shield and sword, eventually the fires died down and my conjured creatures disappeared due to the lack of dust to maintain them. Hidden, I went to escape only for a bandit to see me, by the time I defeated him all the remaining tribe's bandits had me surrounded." Jaune lied expertly getting the audience to be wrapped around his finger at his false recollection.
"Before they charged to kill me assuming I started the fire which was true, I dug deep into my aura calling forth anything that would come to my side and help me in that moment, my aura answered... Before I summon these creatures I want to make sure the gathered reporters know I am in full control of these creatures." With that said Jaune got to work summoning a Dremora lord, the difference however this time was it wore a helmet covering its face.
Silence reigned over all as they looked at the lord in fear, awe, surprise and fucking terrified shitless, eventually one reporter from Vacuo, Turq Shrub asked the obvious. "Mister Arc is that a… humanoid Grimm?" Slightly afraid to hear what the answer might possibly reveal.
"I can confirm this creature is not a Grimm despite its appearance," 'It's understandable they would think this with the glowing red armour and intimidating presence they give off, I'm just glad it hasn't spoken yet saying I smell weakness would not be a good impression to make.' The dragonborn thought.
"I call this particular one a 'Dremora Lord' a name of a black knight in an ancient language of Mistralien that I was taught by a friend of my fathers a long time ago, at the time I summoned five of them they alone killed the majority whilst the minority were crippled or knocked unconscious." All the reporters had already seen what the captured bandits looked like through the General showing images of their conditions, but hearing over 17 powerful tribes being defeated by 5 of these things further increased the tension.
"Raven Branwen was the first to realise that if she killed me, the Dremora killing her tribe and the others would disappear, I fought her off for a minute at best before her experience and strength overwhelmed me but whilst she was distracted beating me down the Dremora finished with the other bandits only leaving Raven. It was very scary seeing how far these conjurations will go to defend me and how they will go as well." Jaune breathed in then out before finishing his farfetch'd tale.
"After severing her arms Raven fell unconscious most definitely from shock or possibly blood loss I wasn't sure, after recovering from my shock at how powerful they were I searched the camp for a scroll, eventually I stumbled upon a Beacons huntresses scroll, I later discovered it was Ravens, I played a distress call through the scroll leading to myself being retrieved by General Ironwood himself." Once Jaune finished the reporters swooped in like a pack of vultures asking numerous questions.
"Mister Arc what other conditions did you face when-!?"
"Will you be attending psychological counseling for the traumatic experience-!?"
"Do you blame Beacon academy for your capture due to the clear lack of security if a bandit managed to-!?"
As the questions were fired again and again at the Dragonborn he simply had a calm expression the entire time not wanting to respond to anyone currently due to being very tired after speaking of his falsified account of what truly transpired.
"Enough!" The generals' booming and commanding voice spoke above all others silencing the rowdy reporters. "I am sure Mister Arc will answer your questions in a calm and orderly fashion, at a later date, but everyone could use rest after today's revolutionary discovery about the downfall of the scourge that plagued settlements for decades, isn't that correct Mister Arc?" The General turned to the dragonborn and he could most definitely tell the General wasn't too happy with him under the false smile he was using.
"Correct General I am very tired myself and could use the rest." Yawning in kind to emphasise his standing on the idea of getting a good night's rest. "I thank you all for your time on this fine day."
Giving a genuine smile to the world he grabbed his sack over his shoulder that he kept close to his side the entire interview 'More like interrogation and I've been through plenty of those when I was accused of multiple crimes in Riften.' He thought before exiting, whilst the reporters got out of their stupper yelling questions to the heavens wishing him to elaborate more on his capture and battle with the tribes.
...
Before Jaune could retire to a guest quarters his shoulder was grabbed by a very powerful force making him turn around to be face to face with the Atlas military General.
"What the hell was that!? I thought we reached an understanding, Mister Arc, to not reveal the revelation of magic which you acquired!" Sighing in anger at the lone dragonborn, the General rubbed his forehead in frustration.
"General, it's true out there I did undermine your authority, which I apologise for." 'Not really you sly bastard making me deal with those people, I swear to the Nine if I spent any longer with them it would feel as though I was being drained of blood by a vampire all over again.'Jaune thoughts dripped with irritance at the Generals outburst when he felt that of all people to lash out it should be him!
"Yet do you realise I am neither a citizen of Atlas or someone that can be forced to stay silent, these are my well earned skills I honed and developed upon being stranded in a land with nothing but the clothes on my back and a name." He spoke with the utmost calm faced expression but his words were venomous to the touch.
"That is true Mister Arc, but as someone who has kept the secret of magic from the public gaze for over 16 years, I might add! Were lucky the reporters believed it to be a very powerful semblance but if they learn something to do with what truly happened at the camp I hope you-" The headmaster of Atlas academy countered. Being cut off by the groaning sigh of the Arc.
"*sigh*... Think of it this way General, I have given the world hope, hope that bandits won't attack their settlements no longer, well, until some idiots think it's a good idea to start robbing again." Jaune continued. "With me taking down 17 different tribes of bandits, I might add, I couldn't give some simple bullshit like 'I'm super strong and managed to defeat those dastardly bandits'. No, they would have easily seen through the lie. I'm only a first year student in their eyes not a fully trained huntsman wielding magic." He said trying to calm the irritated Atlesian. Whilst casually mocking him in the process at Ironwoods lack of control over himself.
"Here." Jaune took a copy of a Sparks spell tome and handed it to the General. "A peace offering with an added bonus." Then he handed Ironwood a spell tome with the symbol of oblivion on the cover. "That General is a spell tome that allows anyone to conjure a flame atronach to your side, whilst the other is a lightning based spell from the destruction school, the conjuration is completely loyal to whoever summons it. Whilst the other is sparks should come in handy when you're in a bind."
The Atlas headmaster studied intently the gifts Jaune had just provided him, from what Jaune stated earlier about how spell tomes can only be used once before disintegrating and knowledge being absorbed directly into the mind.
Very curious, Ironwood opened the spell tome for a flame atronach, then was hit by what could be described as an almost second awakening feeling akin to when aura is unlocked for the first and the only time. Waving off the headache side effect the General looked at his palm as a purple flaming orb resided there.
Wasting no time the General locked onto the ground and released, then it appeared a femine figure made of roaring flames slightly flying a few inches above the floor. "That makes you the second mage of Remnant General Ironwood, congratulations." Jaune spoke, clapping his hands in an obviously mocking fashion.
"That, this is incredible, the ability to summon a being completely loyal to defend its owner. *Dark chuckle* Sounds like slavery, yet despite its barbaric description, its beautiful." Ironwood said as he completely forgot his previous anger for the mage standing in front of him.
"Yeah it really is. A fair warning however General at the moment you can only summon one for a limited time and it is very consuming on your reserves of magicka so do be careful." Jaune warned pointing out the fundamental weakness of what a rookie conjurer can face.
"I shall indeed take your advice to heart. Now that we are away from the media I could use a drink, care to join me in my office for one." The headmaster offered as partial thanks for the unique opportunity to wield magic.
"I'll have to pass I'm afraid, need the rest. Have a nice evening General." Jaune waved off before walking down the corridor making his way to his room.
Looking at Jaune's retreating form, Ironwood turned around and strolled to his office, the atronach sticking close by leaving a small scorch trail behind.
As Ironwood entered his office, walking over to his desk he placed the four tomes aside as he logged into a secure channel as he called his friend. When Jaune spoke about Skyrim and the existence of Magic in its lands Ironwood forwarded a message to Headmaster Ozpin containing everything the Arc was willing to disclose at the time. The creatures, the magic spell tomes one could buy at any store and the people more specifically the races of unheard of faunus.
Ring…
Ring…
Rin- Click!
Present on Ironwood's desktop screen was Headmaster Ozpin, the emerald wizard.
"Hello James a pleasant surprise as always." Ozpin kindly greeted his friend and fellow inner circle member as he sipped on his favourite brew.
"Greetings Ozpin," The general smiled at his oldest friend. "I am correct to assume you've seen the news about Davids boy?"
"Why yes, myself and Glynda watched it in my office not too long ago, poor Glynda almost fainted at Mister Arc using 'magic' to summon those creatures; it was rather entertaining." Ozpin mused reminiscent over Glynda's slack jawed and wobbly appearance at the time, bringing a smirk to rise up on the hidden wizard's face.
Ironwood simply rolled his eyes at Ozpin's regular antics of humor. "I can only imagine, but I'm not only calling about Mister Arc's magic related abilities. Also I'd like to introduce someone here first…" A second later his atronach appeared on the screen next to the General.
Ozpin saw Jaune previously summon these beings on the live broadcast they were clearly not something a mere semblance could create they truly were magic. "Incredible is this one of Mister Arc's?"
"Actually Mister Arc gifted me one of those spell tomes I informed you of in my briefing report, which allowed me to conjure my own, Ozpin I can use magic." Ozpin's eyes slightly widened as he put his mug down giving James his full attention.
"I suspected Mister Arc might depart with one of those 'tomes' you mentioned beforehand, but not this quickly. Was this part of the deal the two of you made for that conference to take place?" The wise tactician questioned.
"No!, rather after picking up Mister Arc he revealed his magic and I asked him to keep the magic a secret but as you can see he didn't do that, the world believes it to be a simple semblance similar to that of a Schnees. Before he retreated away to his room I cornered him about how he presented himself in front of the reporters and CCT broadcast, as an apology he gave me two tomes, one of said tomes being that of conjuring a 'flame atronach'." He defended himself not wanting Ozpin to think he did something for some form of a power move without his knowledge.
"Oh? What kind?" Believing the General, for now.
"A spell to cast a stream of lightning from my palms apparently from Mister Arc's explanation earlier before the interview began. Ozpin let me be clear it was incredible after I opened the book it flooded my mind with the knowledge to summon and the exhilaration it gave off was indescribable." Ironwood said, trying to think of describing the sensation however coming up short.
"Hmm... I can't wait to speak with Mister Arc about his adventurous lifestyle in that mystical land he spoke of, 'Skyrim' if I'm not mistaken." The Beacon headmaster pondered what to speak of in his students presence.
"I'm sure it will be a memorable experience." The general chuckled getting one from his friend as well. It was these moments Ironwood cherished most chatting to someone about anything but politics, military conduct and secret wars in the shadows. But life waited for no one.
"Ozpin... I have the Spring maiden in custody." Ozpin visibly stiffened at the news.
"I had heard a rumour from Qrow the lost maiden was possibly hidden among Raven's ranks but only thought it to be a false account." He started, before grabbing his mug and drinking slowly.
"Oh it was a rumour alright, she wasn't among her ranks, Raven is the maiden." Cue Ozpin choking on his coffee, wheezing for breath.
"I'm sorry James could you repeat that."
"Raven's the spring maiden. Meaning if she is the maiden that implicates-"
"She killed the last one, poor child." Ozpin wore a sorrowful expression on his visage.
"That isn't all Ozpin, Mister Arc is something we can't overlook lightly. I'm sending you a video file," Ironwood clicked a send button on his scroll pad. "As I spoke with Mister Arc in the ruins of the tribe's camp, Clover Ebi, one of my Ace Ops discovered a scroll that recorded everything that transpired and it's very disturbing to say the least."
For over an hour Ozpin quietly watched the footage of Mister Arc doing the impossible, performing feats even he couldn't have done in his prime. "Dear Oum…" He spoke softly watching the dragonborn use Bend Will on the majority of the tribes, seeing Jaune wield a power akin to the Relic of Choice made Ozpin's blood run cold.
"Clearly these abilities aren't related to simple magic, I thoroughly questioned him about magic that can be wielded but nothing he described was close to what he performed in that video, so either its a powerful semblance that he possesses or something very, very dangerous." Ironwood spoke with utmost caution, lacing his words wishing to receive advice on possible ways to subdue the dragonborn in case of worst case scenarios showing up.
"The Mister Arc my institute taught was nothing like what I just witnessed, killed without hesitation, showing active outrage towards Raven most likely stemming from his experiences with her daughter and the use of brutal tactics in combat. Whatever happened in that land changed Jaune Arc, for better or worse I cannot say." Ozpin laced his fingers together thinking deeply.
"Do you possibly think she had a hand in this, finally deciding to share her magic with the boy? And coming up with the boy to speak of a ludicrous story of a magical land to possibly lower are guard?"
Ozpin simply shook his head dismissively. "Despite what transpired with the student body and Mister Arc, he remained strong, sticking to his beliefs of becoming the embodiment of a hero just like his ancestors. In this video I see a man dealing with criminals in a way brutally that shows his distaste for the bandit lifestyle."
Ozpin continued. "However the evidence points towards the opposite thankfully of what you are implying. Mister Arc used Raven's scroll to call for an extraction rather than call an agent of hers to take the spring maidens powers like Amber. Even when battling Raven, my student seemed unclear of how to combat a maiden which Salem would have taught him how to do effectively. Instead he seemed to learn as the battle progressed. So no I do not believe you have any need to worry over Mister Arc being in your presence related to her." Ozpin defended his former student.
"All the same Ozpin, preferably I want him to be in your capable hands rather than my own, after all you have the most experience when dealing with magic and Mister Arc also explicitly wished to return to Vale at the earliest convenience."
"Very well, I shall have Qrow come to escort Mister Arc personally back to Vale within the next two days." Whilst he spoke Ozpin inputted a message to his most valued agent about the task.
"Ozpin," Ironwood started with skepticism. "You're planning to send the brother of the woman Mister Arc severed the arms of and handed over to the Atlesian military, that's a horrific idea! Despite the grievances I have towards Qrow's way of conducting himself, I still trust him completely but in a situation such as this, escorting the man that if he was more bloodthirsty would have murdered his sister!" Ironwood was desperately trying to persuade him that Qrow was not a solution but a damn panic attack for Ironwood waiting to happen.
"James I trust Qrow completely, yes he will be furious I can imagine with Mister Arc but he will be able to throw that aside for the sake of the mission, trust me, please." Ozpin calmed the General once again, having said man slouch in his chair.
"Do as you see fit Ozpin but understand my worries at what I'll most likely need to clean up when Qrow reaches Atlas." Ironwood sighed out.
"I'll take it to heart James, now if you'll excuse me… Have a pleasant evening." Ozpin smiled fondly at his friend before ending the call.
…
"I feel a storm coming, not for Atlas but all of Remnant and at the centre stands this young man. What changes will you bring to the board Arc, will you be a player or another piece?" Ironwood spoke to no one in particular as he gazed over the infrastructure of the Kingdom he pledged to protect, no matter the cost.
