Mommy chat

A guest asked for a oneshot of Snow being at a mommy and me class and the moms are all talking about their babies sleeping habits. Snow mentions that Emma can't sleep without her blanket.

Some of the mommies laughed at the way Aurora's head began bobbing slowly up and down as they sang their midway lullaby.

"Philip have a rough night?" Ella suggested, jolting Aurora awake.

"Um, yes." She responded, her cheeks turning slightly pink as she realised what she must have done. "He's teething and his normal routine is out the window. He used to be such a good little sleeper. He slept pretty much right through the night as long as he had his binky."

"Ah, just like my Alex then. Except she's not the greatest sleeper, even with the binky." Ella responded, nuzzling Alex's nose.

"My Emma can't sleep unless she has her blanket. She gets crabbit without it." Snow added casually as she rocked Neal. After a minute, she became aware of the awkward silence that had fallen since she joined in the conversation. "What?" She asked. "Was it something I said?"

"Well, not exactly." Ella said nervously. "It's just…I'm not sure Emma will appreciate you sharing that detail, should she ever find out." Ella pointed out. Snow smiled. She sometimes still forgot how unaccustomed outsiders could be to their family situation, even very close outsiders.

"Part of the reason we all come here is to seek advice, be able to talk about normal baby things and not feel like we're boring people. Emma might be a little older now, granted, but she's still my baby just as much as Neal. Sometimes I'm bound to let out little details like that about her too. She knows that. As long as nobody makes a fuss or brings it to her attention, I know she doesn't really mind." Snow promised. Ella nodded and got on with leading the class. Snow smiled down at her baby boy in her arms. She might never had had the opportunity to do this kind of bonding with his big sister, but that didn't mean Snow was any less aware of her routines and habits, baby blanket and all.
