Jewel thieves- part 3

randa180 asked for a oneshot of a sequel to Ch3015 "Jewel thieves" where they help Emma and tell her about the threat.

While Emma slept, Charming and Snow got Blue in to perform a magical analysis on Emma. Things weren't looking great. Blue told them there was certainly still traces of Emma's magic there, enough to suggest Emma would come back to full power, but not soon. The lack of magic would leave Emma feeling lethargic and probably sore. It wasn't something they had a lot of information on. It would be a case of taking each day as it came. Now came the tricky part: making Emma understood exactly what was going on. Once Emma was awake again, Snow and Charming knew they had to tell her everything. Keeping her in the dark would just lead to Emma being in danger.

"How are you feeling?" Snow asked, brushing some hair out of Emma's face.

"Like I've been hit by a two-tonne truck." Emma grumbled honestly. "The people that attacked us, did they get away?" Emma asked. Charming and Snow frowned. Charming nodded, taking one of Emma's hands.

"They did Em. Here's the thing. They weren't just after you because you're a princess. They lied. They're after you for being the Saviour." Charming told her. Emma rolled her eyes.

"Well, they're not the first. Admittedly that stupid cuff was a new trick, but I'll be prepared for that if they show their sorry asses again." Emma said. Her parents remained stonily quiet. "Right?" She added, wanting some confirmation. Snow cupped Emma's face, giving her a worried smile. Emma could tell looking up at her parents neither of them had slept while she'd been out for the count.

"It's not as simple as that." Snow told her honestly. "These people…they're part of a powerful group that hate magical users. They've decided you're their next target. They're well equipped, as you've seen, and they don't give up easily. Right now, you're vulnerable to them. Your magic is going to take time to return, and while it does, your body can only heal at a normal rate. They got you good Em." Snow admitted. She blinked back a few tears, she had never been so scared. Emma took her mom's hand off her face and gave it a reassuring squeeze.

"Well, we know who we're up against. That's a good start." Emma said, looking between her parents. "What's the plan for taking them out?"

"We'll work on that plan once we know you're safe." Charming told her. "We need to make sure you get time to heal properly. That's going to require staying in hospital for at least a couple more weeks before a longer recovery back home." Charming explained. He hated the way staying in hospital made Emma look so frightened. "You'll not be alone for a second. We won't give them a single chance to get anywhere near you again." Charming promised her. Snow and Charming didn't really know who they were dealing with. They were deeply concerned by how powerful they were, but they didn't care how strong they made themselves out to be. They weren't getting Emma.
