New to town- part 2

Ashazara asked for a oneshot of a sequel to Ch3048 "New to town" where we see Randy's reactions to learning about Emma's parents.

"Two burgers" Granny said, placing Emma's burger calmly in front of her before giving Randy his with a suspicious look. Randy smiled awkwardly, waiting for her to head back into the kitchen.

"People round here don't seem to like me very much." He commented. "Should I be worried there's something in this?"

"Just the usual worries: carbs and saturated fats." Emma told him, digging into her own burger. "It's not you, it's anyone from out of town.

"I'm beginning to get that impression." Randy commented, trying to ignore the glances he was getting from other diners. "Including your parents, it would seem." Emma nodded. She waited, she knew the question that was coming next.

"Em, I don't understand. They're the same age as us. How can they be your parents?" There it was. Emma sighed, putting down her burger.

"I can tell you that, Randy, and I promise you that I won't lie. The problem is, you're not going to believe me." Emma warned him. Randy settled back in the booth. He had pretty much heard it all when it came to runaways and their family backstories.

"Try me." He challenged her.

"Alright. I will. The thing is, my parents, they're not from here…and neither am I."

"Like, you're undocumented?" Randy asked. He was expecting a more elaborate tale than that. Emma shook her head. "Nope. We're from a bit further away than Canada. The thing is Randy, pretty much everyone in Storybrooke…they're not from this world. All the fairytales you heard as kids, they're real. They're just not from this world. We're from another realm. My parents gave me up as a newborn to save everybody from a curse that brought them here and froze them in time for twenty eight years. I saved everybody, now here we are. One big happy family." Emma explained. Randy smirked.

"Right, so you expect me to believe everyone here is a character from a story?" Randy asked. Emma nodded. Randy couldn't help but laugh. "Yeah, right. Pull the other one, Emma. So who're your folks meant to be? Aurora and Philip?"

"No, they are good friends of ours though. Try Snow White and Prince Charming." Emma answered him. Randy couldn't believe Emma was saying all this with a straight face. Was there a gas leak in this town or something? Emma sighed. She thought some more visible proof might be needed. She picked up her hand and lazily let it begin to glow. Randy nearly fell out the booth. Not a gas leak, more like a radioactive explosion had occurred. Why was nobody else reacting to her glowing hand?!

"Magic." Emma explained. "I'm what they call a Saviour. My parents share true love, so I got magical powers. I brought you here Randy because the magic that allows me to do this, also shields Storybrooke from the rest of the world. That's why you'd never heard of it, and couldn't find it on any map or even on Google. To everyone else, we don't exist. No cop will ever find you here. You'll be safe for the rest of your life. I can hook you up with a job somewhere. The only thing is, you'll need to get used to the magic. Can't go freaking out every time someone's hand glows." Emma warned him. Randy didn't know what to say. Was this all a huge prank? Looking at Emma's face, he didn't think it was.

Just then, Charming came into the diner.

"Just here to pick up dinner for your mom and I." He announced, seeing Emma and Randy in the booth. He fixed Emma with a look. "Everything ok here?" He asked her. Emma smiled reassuringly.

"We're fine." She promised him. "I'll catch up with you both tomorrow."

"Text us later when you're home." He told her. He came and kissed the top of her head, got the bag from Granny, and left.

"He certainly acts like your dad. All protective and stuff." Randy commented. Emma smiled.

"Sorry, he doesn't mean to be rude to you. He just doesn't like me around unfamiliar men…or, any men really." Emma told him. "He's just protective."

"I can see that." Randy agreed. He was silent for a few minutes as he thought everything over. The way he saw it, he didn't really have much of a choice. Besides, it wasn't that bad here. Just a little different. "I think I might just stick around here, Em." Randy told her. "It's starting to grow on me."

"Well then, welcome to Storybrooke."
