Chapter 7: Something Special

Sirius hadn't done much that day. He was thinking about his job. It brought him to his friend, and it could easily rip them apart again. Sirius didn't have much time left here. What would happen when he left? Would James be all alone again?

"Sirius!" James yelled with excitement.

"What's up, James?" He said, redirecting his attention.

"You'll never believe it." James stood up. "Lily finally said yes."

"Really?" Sirius was fairly shocked. "That's great! I'm so happy for you."

James let out a relieved sigh.

"You finally have a girlfriend." Sirius started to tease. "Sure the girls were all over you in high school, but man, you finally got a real one."

"Whatever man!"

It was getting harder and harder for Sirius, knowing he'd have to leave this town. It had his best friend, someone he thought could be special, and the place was perfect.

There were the cute little stores, small parks, not too many people, almost no tourists, but somehow always something new. There was a bit of mystery which supplied Sirius' need to not feel like each day was the same as the last. It was a very open-minded town, something Sirius had always longed for. How could he ever leave this place?

Sirius wondered if Remus finished the book. He was unsure if it would even be something Remus would like. He sat in his room thinking about the characters. Sirius thought about Liam, the character he felt seemed a lot like himself. What if Remus related to Ace, the character that fell in love with Liam? Would it be the world trying to give them both a sign?

Ding! The silence in his room was broken. Sirius picked up his phone and checked the notification. It was Remus, he was asking if Sirius would want to hang out the next day. Sirius quickly replied 'Of course!' then ran to his computer. He needed to send his most recent photos to his boss. All of his photos were of buildings and the streets of the town. Some shot at angles, others with black and white filters, some brightened by filtered vibrancy.

Sirius needed something new to photograph. His boss was getting tired of the same types of photos. Sirius just didn't know what. He thought about plants, but that didn't feel right. He captured only moments he thought he could treasure, and some random flower just didn't feel like him.

He knew he'd have to go somewhere soon, but he wanted to hold onto this place as long as possible.

When Sirius got to the usual coffee shop Remus wasn't sitting in their usual chairs. He was already outside, holding two drinks. Remus looked different, it was a good different of course. He was wearing a light denim jacket with several buttons with various puns and jokes. Remus was smiling at Sirius who was wearing his regular black leather jacket.

"No one told me there was a wardrobe change." Sirius joked.

"Haha, very funny." Remus handed him a cup. "I thought we'd go for a walk. I got you your coffee."

"That sounds great!" Sirius responded adjusting the camera strapped around his neck.

"So, what's with the camera?" asked Remus.

"I don't know I thought I might get some inspiration," Sirius said.

"I don't know much about photography, would you like to tell me anything?"

"Well," Sirius started, then thought of what to say next. "There are some that would want to tell you every little thing about photography, but I don't actually know every detail myself." He noticed Remus' slight confusion and smirked. "I'm, kind of a rebel like that."

Remus started laughing. "Yeah, sorry I'm not laughing."

"Are you laughing at me?" Sirius asked while staring at the new smile Remus presented.

"No, not at you, just at the way you said that."

"Are you done yet?" Sirius started laughing which only caused Remus to burst out laughing harder.

Sirius took a photo of Remus. After looking at the photo and loving it with all of his heart, there was something he was forgetting.

"Oh gosh, I took a photo of you without consent, I'm sorry," Sirius explained embarrassedly. "I can delete it."

"Sirius, it's ok. You don't have to delete it." Remus responded, a familiar smile forming on his face.

"Are you sure?"

"Certain. Now come on this is something I really want to show you." Remus started walking quickly.

"You're walking too fast."

"Here." Remus took Sirius' hand.

"Ok, where are we even going?" Sirius asked ignoring the fact he and Remus were holding hands.

"It's right… here." They stopped in front of the bookstore.

"Is that?" Sirius looked into the window.

"It's my new book," Remus said proudly of his work.

"What's it about?" Sirius asked staring at the cover.

"Well, it's fantasy."

"I'm gonna go buy it." Sirius said about to open the door.

"Wait, Sirius... I..." He pulled the book out of his oddly large jacket pocket.

"Thank you." Sirius beamed.

"I'm just glad you want to read it," Remus told while continuing their walk.

"Of course I want to read it."

"Hey Sirius, how was hanging out with Remus?" James called from the kitchen. "I'm heating a frozen pizza, ok?"

"Yeah, anything you want James, I've got a lot of reading to do."

"Reading? What has Remus gifted you?"

"It's his new book," Sirius responded, sitting down on the couch.

"Any note inside?"
