Kids are his strong point

A guest asked for a oneshot of Emma overhearing one of her parents talking to a friend about their children and how amazing Emma is and how proud they are of her.

Emma hated having George at the station. Unfortunately, while they processed his case it was the only place for him. She knew her dad wasn't liking it much better. George knew exactly how to get under her dad's skin. When Emma was there, she could normally stop the conversation before her dad lost his cool and did something he would regret. That's why George took every opportunity. Even when Emma was still in the building. So when Emma was in the office one day filing, she overheard a very interesting conversation.

"I cannot believe you get the gift of being able to have a family and waste it." George said bitterly.

"I don't know what you mean by that." Charming growled in response. "I have a wonderful wife, together, we have two amazing children and a brilliant grandson." George laughed humourlessly.

"You call those two amazing? The boy truly is a chip off the old block, spending his days running around a farm chasing after livestock. You're raising him soft, so that is what he'll become. As for the girl, all that power and she's here messing around with paperwork? What a waste." Emma was about to go out there and stop this, when she heard her dad start speaking.

"George, you can't anger me with hollow words. Your hatred for me and my family simply cannot match the love I have for them. What you say about my kids can't be further from the truth. Neal loves animals, just like his dad. He is a kind and caring boy and I love that about him. As for Emma, she is powerful, but that's not all that makes my daughter special. She's been through so much in her life, and still comes out swinging. Despite not having a family growing up, she is always there for them now. I got more than I deserved when Emma came back into our lives. She's fought so many demons, and I simply could not be more proud of her. So, if all you've got left to taunt me with is lies about my kids, you're done getting to me." Charming told him. Emma could hear George muttering under his breath, but it was clear he had lost the fight. Emma decided it was safe to come out now. She came out smiling, the folder her dad needed in her hand.

"Here dad." She said, placing it on his desk. "I think this is the one you needed."

"That's the one, thanks Em," Charming responded.

"No problem. You know I'd do anything to help you out. We're family." Emma said, throwing a small wink at George, not at all missing the way it enraged him.
