AN: Apparently it is not allowed on this site to post 2nd person POV Stories, so I had to rewrite anything to a 3rd person POV.
The story itself hasn't changed, only that it is no longer "You", but a young woman named "Sina". We won't learn anything more about her, leaving her as neutral as possible.
I'm sorry if this changes the story's experience, but if you want to continue the Chishiya x reader version, feel free to search for it on Ao3 or Wattpad. It's the same title and author name - "Captured in a Dream" by Szallejh (:
You'll also find this note attached to the firstchapter updated here, for all the readers starting from the beginning. Anyway, that's it from me!
Thanks for reading x3
Sza ~
Sina wakes up from a dream that escapes the grasp of her memory as soon as she tries to think about it. The pool area of the Beach is already completely crowded and noisy, and not a single cloud can be found in the sky while the scorching summer sun is making her sweat in her jacket.
A pain in her back makes Sina want to stretch, but she halts immediately as she realizes where she is.
Sina is still on the roof of the Beach, and she is still in Chishiya's arms. Has he really allowed her to fall asleep in his arms and is now waiting for her to wake up again? This has to be another part of her dream, and she is sure to really wake up any moment now.
His chest is moving in a slow and steady rhythm, and if she listens closely, she can hear his breath through all the noise around her. Taking an eternity, Sina moves her head just so carefully to not disturb him, and when she is finally able to see his face through the corner of her eye, it is probably the most beautiful thing she has ever seen.
Chishiya has his eyes closed and his lips are slightly opened, and there's nothing condescending or mocking in his face. He seems to be asleep, looking so calm and peaceful as if he is a completely different person. She understands now what he meant with "people are vulnerable when they sleep", because seeing him like this, she feels the sudden need to protect him from anything bad in this world. Though she can't believe that someone like Chishiya would allow himself to fall asleep so easily in a situation like this, but why else should he be this calm and motionless?
The arm that was wrapped around her shoulder has fallen down to Sina's side and is loosely resting there, while he still uses the other hand to support his position. It doesn't look comfortable at all and Sina wonders how one can sleep like that, but that's also a thing Chishiya has taught her. People are different – maybe it's completely normal for him to sit like this for hours?
She takes another look on his mesmerizing appearance and then she hides her face in the crook of his neck, but not without placing a tiny kiss on the warm skin of his collarbone. It's against his rules, but he will never know about this, giving her another small victory that can't be taken away by anyone. The smell of chlorine has completely vanished by now, and it's just him.
"I… I love you." She whispers into his skin, because she wouldn't dare to say it out loud when he was awake. But it is true, and Sina realizes it the moment those tender words leave her lips. Not only has she developed interest in this man, it might really be as deep as love. There is no other explanation how her heart always wants to explode in moments like these even though she wanted to be angry at him not even half a day ago.
"You shouldn't."
Chishiya's voice is a bit rough, most likely because he hasn't talked for a while, and Sina immediately blushes with shame. So he has been awake all the time, but why didn't he say anything about the kiss? Too conscience-stricken to look him in the eyes, she presses her face against him even tighter.
"Why?" She mumbles with a slightly shaking voice, not sure which of the dozen questions inside her head she wants to be answered.
Chishiya breathes out audibly, his hand clasping her shoulder again. "Because it could kill you."
It's one of those rare times where Sina fully thinks through her answer before actually voicing it. Somewhere inside of her, it hurts to say those words, but at the same time, she knows they're true.
"Then it would be worth it."
He shifts his position and removes his hand from her body. Sina internally mourns over the sudden absence, but at least now's the chance to stretch properly. Chishiya casually rubs his wrist while locking eyes with her; while she was probably right about the uncomfortable position, it still makes her happy that he kept it for so long supposedly because she has been sleeping.
"Dying for someone else is not only redundant, but also utterly foolish. No other life should be of a higher value than your own, because those who you'd happily give your life for would never do the same for you."
Chishiya would never even think about sacrificing his own life to save hers, but it's not what Sina would expect him to do either. In fact, she wouldn't even want that, because living with the burden that the man she loves has died so she can live?
Sina shakes her head. "Don't assume that other humans think the same way as you." It somehow makes her feel strong that she uses his own words against him, and she is almost sure that there's some recognition for this in his eyes.
"Maybe we should add another rule?" She continues as Chishiya doesn't answer immediately, "don't remind me that I shouldn't have feelings for you. I won't change it anyway."
"Another rule, because you obviously like to break them?" He says mockingly, causing Sina to blush even harder. But she has to admit that it had been nice to break the rule, as she definitely enjoyed the feeling of her lips against his skin.
"Yeah. Guess I do like to break the rules." She has to turn away from his cold eyes as soon as she has said that, and she wishes she could be braver. Maybe even brave enough to give him another kiss – this time, on his lips. But there's no such courage right now, and instead Sina pulls her legs up to her chest.
Chishiya's mouth turns into a dangerous grin. "But keep in mind that when you break the rules, it allows me to break them too."
Sina swallows and suddenly she's glad that she is a coward sometimes. "I'm not sure you'd stick to the rules anyway."
"Why would that be?"
"Because", she has to chuckle at the thoughts of her own words, "I think you're like a cat."
"I'm afraid that statement requires further explanation."
Chishiya is grinning too, and that causes Sina's own grin to grow even bigger. "Well, you see – having a cat is not that easy. It's well-known that a human doesn't own their cat, but a cat owns its human."
"I don't own you."
Sina halfheartedly punches him for interrupting her before she continues. "Maybe you do, in more ways that you're aware of. But that's not what I was going to say."
He doesn't interrupt her this time while she takes a deep breath. "Different to dogs, cats can't be controlled. They do what they please, demand affection whenever they need it but bite you when they don't. And they…"
"They?" His condescending smile grows bigger as he watches her struggle with the words.
"I… forgot the point. It had something to do with cats and you though!"
This is the first time Sina sees Chishiya laugh sincerely, and it brings him to a completely new level of adorableness.
"First: if you wanted to say anything smart, you failed. Second: will you return me to the animal shelter if I don't demand any affection from you?"
"Only if you start to use the sofa as a scratching post, oh cattish deity." Though Sina definitely wouldn't mind if Chishiya started to demand any shares of kindness and affection from her, she'd absolutely kill for the sight of him scratching on a sofa.
She shakes her head over her own stupidity, and Sina puts all the warmth she feels for Chishiya in that moment into the grin she givse him.
He opens his mouth to reply with something mocking for sure, but another familiar voice interrupts him before a word can leave his mouth.
"Chishiya!"
Kuina has stepped out of the glass door and is looking around until she catches sight of them two. Chishiya slightly frowns and turns around to see what the tall woman wants from him while Sina probably still grins like a moron.
"Seems like all is well between you two again, eh?" She says with a smile as she approaches them, kneeling down and touching Sina's shoulder as a greeting.
Sina slightly nods and forms a "thank you" with her lips, though Chishiya doesn't answer her question at all.
"Good. While I'm always there to comfort a friend in need, I prefer not to be woken in the middle of the night for that." She obviously addresses Chishiya with her last words, but quickly continues while Sina is still trying to figure out what exactly she means.
"But I haven't come to tell you this. Hatter is searching for you – I guess there's another executives meeting."
"Let's hurry then." Chishiya quickly gets up to follow Kuina, but at least he gives Sina one last look. She is sure to see a faint smile while he shortly waves at her, and long after they both have left the roof, Sina still stares at the glass door and tries to understand the meaning behind Kuina's words.
And it seems that with every small victory also comes another mystery, and she'll never be able to see through all of them.
