Vestibular hyperacusis- part 2

CharmingsDaughter asked for a oneshot of a sequel to Ch3066 "Vestibular hyperacusis" where they find out Emma actually did hurt herself. Snowing go into overprotective parent mode and praise Neal for telling them.

It didn't take Emma long to be seen to once they checked her in at the hospital. Something about the looks on her parents' faces suggested keeping them waiting would not be good for the hospital. Much to their annoyance, Snow and Charming were made to wait with Neal in the waiting room whilst Emma was examined. Snow had wanted to go in with her to make sure Emma didn't underplay any injuries, but the doctor assured Snow he would tell her everything once the examination was complete. So it was just a waiting game.

After a while, the same doctor came back out and allowed the family back into the examination room with Emma.

"I'm happy for Emma to return home immediately." He said.

"See, told you all I was fine. Lets go…"

"However," the doctor continued. Emma scowled. She had hoped he would just leave it be. "It is my medical opinion that Miss Swan should take at least two weeks off from work. Particularly since her line of work is highly physical. The bruising she's experienced down her side is bound to make her feel quite tender."

"Then Emma won't be at work for the next two weeks, you've got it." Charming responded. Emma's mouth fell open. Wasn't that her call?!

"Are there any other injuries we should be aware of?" Snow asked.

"I've ruled out any head injuries including concussion. She's not broken any bones, although I think a few of her ribs on her bruised side are bound to be fractured." He said honestly. Snow winced. "I'll let you all get on your way." The doctor told them. Charming shook his hand. As soon as he'd left, Snow came over and pulled Emma's t-shirt up on one side. She gasped. Emma only fell a few hours ago and her whole side was black and blue! Emma snatched it back down. It was bad enough them knowing without seeing. She knew what her parents were like.

"It's not as bad as it looks." She grumbled.

"Really? Because it looks pretty darn bad from here." Charming commented. "How are you not at least wincing when you move?" He asked. Emma shrugged.

"I have a lot of experience at downplaying injuries." She told them. "This really is no biggie."

"Yeah, well, there will be no downplaying this one. You'll be lucky if you're back in work after just two weeks. Never mind his medical opinion. You'll be waiting on my maternal opinion before you get the all clear to return to work with your father." Snow told her. Now, lets get you home where you can lie on the couch with ice and not move until otherwise instructed." Snow told her. Charming swished back the curtain and revealed the wheelchair they'd brought from the waiting room for this eventuality.

"Absolutely not." Emma told them. "I can walk."

"You can, but you're not going to." Charming told her. "You're not putting any unnecessary strain on your ribs. Now, you can either get in the chair, or I can carry you to the car. What's it going to be?" Emma's eyes narrowed dangerously as she lowered herself into the wheelchair. "Stellar choice." Charming commented, beginning to push her towards the exit. "Oh, before we leave, Neal, make sure you grab yourself any lollipop you want from the reception. It's thanks to you we know sissy's got an owie." Neal grinned. He loved lollipops (and he knew Emma had an owie).
