A/N: Link's. Expressions. In. This. Memory. It's. So. Important.

If you look hard enough, you'll find Link constantly staring softly at the princess while she sleeps, and looking so sad and soft when Urbosa talks to him. When the Gerudo told him to protect Zelda with his life, Link had this really determined little expression on his face and it just uwu-s me so hard aaaaaaaaa- He just doesn't even look at Urbosa when she speaks which is rude but who cares when he's busy looking at Zelda- and that awkward gesture he did when Urbosa told him to "spill it" was just so adorable why do I love him so much?

Viewer, just do yourself a favor, search for this memory on some random video website, change the quality to the clearest, and zoom in on Link to see those tiny expressions that are just such a great tiny detail. He,he's so in love he doesn't even know what to do with it. I think my fangirl is showing now.

I um? Well just enjoy this memory muahaha. I'm so hyped for the next chapter.

Link's footsteps echoed softly as he marched on the Divine Beast Vah Naboris, the cold night air sending a soft chill down his back. The Beast was quiet and still, unmoving as he made his way towards the light in front, where the Gerudo chief rests with the princess.

As he approached, Urbosa turned back at him with that familiar soft smile on her lips, her jewelries twinkling gently as she did so. "Ah, well…you certainly got here fast." Zelda seemed to be sleeping on her shoulder, her head bowed low in exhaustion while the Gerudo woman talked to Link with her smooth voice, quiet enough to not wake the princess, yet loud enough for him to hear. The minute Link's eyes landed on the sleeping princess, he felt his heart jerk and his face heat up: Should he really be seeing her asleep? He should actually excuse himself if he accidentally does, according to the rules set by the royal family…but she looks so happy and pure right now…and rested…please don't wake her up…He silenced his footsteps and stopped in his tracks, fearing that any of his actions would cause her to stir or get interrupted from the peaceful sleep she deserved so well.
"I should have expected as much, from the princess's own appointed knight." Urbosa raised a beautifully-decorated eyebrow at him, whether out from expectation or questioning, Link really didn't know. "She was out on a survey all day today. Still as the sands now…" The Gerudo studied Zelda softly with a motherly look in her eyes, her voluminous red hair shining in the soft lights provided by the lamp at her side.

"So…?" Link forced his eyes up again towards the Gerudo chief, not really wanting to let them leave the princess while she looked so happy in her dreams. "Spill it, boy." Wait…what? Link took a casual step back, some surprise on his face. What did I do? "Have the two of you been getting along alright?"

Oh. Link let his mind trace back to the previous few days, when he raced across half a Hyrule to get the the princess while she just dumped him alone in the Tabantha region, anger flaring in her eyes as they landed on him. I must have done something wrong that day…He thought guiltily, shifting his weight awkwardly as he looked down. But just what is it? Why wouldn't she tell me…

Urbosa laughed gently, painting a soft shade of red on the Hylian knight's face. There it is again; she sounds like she knows something, and, with her level of intelligence, Link doubts that wouldn't be the case. "It's OK…I know." That soft shade of red soon turned into a hue of scarlet despite the cold air; yet thankfully, Urbosa was busy studying the princess with those green eyes identical to hers. "Your silence speaks volumes."

A sigh. "She gets frustrated every time she looks up and sees you carrying that sword on your back." Link stared at his shoes as the sentence made its way to his ears. Of course…I'm supposed to be protecting her, but here I am, causing her pain. "It makes her feel like a failure when it comes to her own destiny." Turning back to see Link's defeated face, she quickly added, "Don't worry, it's not like you carry blame in any of this."

Urbosa looked down at Zelda again, taking her arm around the young, sleeping girl. Link gulped nervously, unable to stop wishing that he was in Urbosa's position in stead. "It's unfortunate." The Gerudo chief sighed. "She's put in more than enough time. Ever since she was a young girl, she's gone through rigorous daily routines to show her dedication…" Link felt his heart squeeze in concern as he thought of all the sufferings Zelda might have gone through, everything she had to bare, while all she could do is to wait and pray only with no result. All of a sudden, all the painful trainings he has gone through seemed like the easiest thing in the realms.

"She once passed out in the freezing waters trying to access this sealing power. And she has nothing to show for it…" Urbosa recalled, her eyes tracing over the desert before her sadly. A white, hot fury suddenly ran down Link's spine: How dare she do that to herself?! I would never let her do such a thing, appointed knight or not…Simply imagining Zelda getting hurt sends a burning feeling through him, making him more determined than ever to fulfill his role properly.

"That's the motivation driving her research." Urbosa's voice lowered as she washed her eyes over the princess's face. "I'd be doing the same thing."

A soft chuckle, barely audible, and an affectionate touch as she pushed a piece of blonde hair back to its place. "She really is quite…special." Link, for once, let a tiny smile slip on his lips; Special doesn't even begin to describe what she means for him.

Urbosa turned back at him again, the stern look in her eyes making Link quickly wipe that smile off his face, returning to his professional, emotionless expression. "You be sure to protect her with your life." That burning feeling was back: Pure determination pumping down his veins as his destiny was whispered into his own ears. Anything to keep her safe; no monster would be able to even touch a fringe of her hair, and no common folk would be able to whisper a single word about her. Not only that - he'll never allow her to hurt herself ever again, king's orders or not; never will she have to cry alone or pass out in the waters by herself. Never.

Urbosa took in Link's determined expression and cracked a warm, friendly smile. "It's quite the honor." She whispered, before turning back again, her voice significantly louder. "The night brings a chill…It's probably time we take her in." Wait..what? Panic and shame suddenly took control of Link: She's waking her up now? He wasn't supposed to see her asleep in the first place, and now she's going to know all about it…please don't do that…

A mischievous "hmm" was heard from Urbosa, her head snapping up and her eyes staring ahead in wonder as she placed her left hand on her chin. "Or…"

The Gerudo chief lifted her hands and snapped her fingers, the loud click like electricity in the air. Within a second Link felt the hair on his neck stand up: He could feel something strange and supernatural coming from the sky above him, and he immediately prepared himself for whatever was coming.

As it turns out, he wasn't wrong. A huge bolt of lightning struck from above the clouds at the desert sand below them, lighting up the dark sky temporarily with a thousand illuminating particles. The sound was more than shocking: It seemed to have numbed Link's ears for a second or two, its unbelievably loud noise overwhelming his unintelligent Hylian body.

Then, a tight gasp from the princess, snapping Link's nerves back from the numbness. "Aah!" Zelda loosened herself from Urbosa's embrace, her beautiful green eyes large with shock. "Urbosa! What was that?! Did you feel that?!" The Gerudo woman watched aside with amusement, still in the same position as before, a smirk repressed on her lips as those eyes traced over the princess.

Link frowned off at the distance, his sparkling mind twinkling with curiosity yet again: just what had caused that lightning? Who did it? It wasn't raining, there are no dark, grey clouds nearby, then what made it happen? This doesn't make sense…

Wait…Link slowly lowered his head to meet Zelda's surprised gaze, a shade of red immediately appearing on his cheeks as these eyes, her jade green ones and his sky blue ones, met in thin air, a spark of electricity bouncing between them. "Wait…what—how did you—" Zelda was stumbling over her words, her face filled with confusion as those eyes remained on his, "What are you doing here?!" Oh, Hylia—It's not what it looks like, I came here because Urbosa sent a sand seal to call me, I didn't mean to—Please forgive me—I never thought you'd just—Urbosa's rich laughter drowned out Link's rapid thoughts, filling the silent night air with her loud chuckles yet not easing the tension at all. Link felt literal fire rising to his face and neck—why is she laughing like that?! Urbosa was soon leaning back, her hand on her head as she doubled over with laughs.

"Wh-what's so funny?" Zelda exclaimed, studying the chief with puzzled kitten eyes. Link bowed his head low in an attempt to hide his flustered face, his fingers automatically fiddling with themselves uncomfortably.

After a while, when Urbosa's roars finally died down, Link risked a peek up at the duo in front of him. Urbosa's back was turned against him as she organized the sheets, ready to head back to their residence in the Bazaar. Zelda, on the other hand, was giving him a hard look, those kitten eyes now as deadly as a snake's, staring at him with a thousand buckets of freezing water and a million more knives. Link felt his heart drop a thousand meters down from his ribcage as he lowered his gaze once more, his chest colder than words, his face whiter than ice.

As they headed away from the Divine Beast, Zelda bumped him hard on the shoulders, a single, whispered sentence escaping her lips.

"What a letdown."

NEXT UPDATE: September/13th

A/N: Am I being too rough on best elf boy-

I love Urbosa way too much. Especially when she said "It's quite the honor" in this memory I can just feel myself screaming inside for her to be my big sis for no reason. She's so nice and so tough and the same time. She can feel free to yeet me away with electricity and I'd still thank her so much...

I hope you enjoyed this chapter!

Look forward to the next one~

Have a great day!
