Password

Dot asked for a oneshot of Emma feeling touched when she finds out her dad's password is her birthday.

Now unfortunately I started work again today, so I can't guarantee I'll get all requests out the next day. The only reason I could do it today was because I started last night. I promise I'll still get your requests to you ASAP, so keep 'em coming!

"Ok, that should be you all ready to go." Emma said, pressing a few more keys on the keyboard. David stared at her, mesmerised. This felt just as mysterious as the magic they had back home, only here they called it technology. The station had recently upgraded their computer system from the outdated one that had been in place since the curse. Emma was helping her dad get it all set up. He didn't have a clue when it came to computers. "All that's needed now is your password." Emma told him.

"Now that, I can help you with. It's Oct2383ES" David rhymed off. Emma froze for a moment.

"That's my birthday." She said quietly.

"Yeah, that's why there's ES at the end." David pointed out. Emma stayed frozen on the spot. David worried. "Oh, is that against data protection?" He asked, suddenly panicking. "Do you want me to change it?" Emma shook her head in response.

"No, it's not that…I don't think I've ever been anybody's password before." Emma said quietly. Now David understood. Every so often either he or Snow saw Emma experience a moment like this where she still wasn't used to being properly loved. He placed his hand over hers.

"Your mum and I's anniversary is my phone password. Neal's birthday is my bank account code and Henry's is the code for the burglar alarm. I always want something from each of you. I'll never forget when it comes to my family. You included." David told her. Emma sniffed. She quickly wiped the few loose tears away and with shaking hands typed in the password. David didn't mention anything. He allowed Emma the time she needed to regulate herself. He would keep taking all the opportunities he was given to remind her just how much she was on his mind.
