The small things
Josie945 asked for a oneshot of Snowing babying Emma because they feel bad about not raising her. At first she's confused, but when she realises why they're doing it she allows them and gets a bit emotional.
It was all little things. Insisting on giving her lifts when she was perfectly capable of driving or walking herself. Leaving her meals when they were out even if she could cook for herself. Doing her laundry for her. Packing her a lunch in the morning. They were all little things, but they still puzzled Emma. They were all things Emma was more than able to do independently, and took away from their time. So why bother? It took Emma a while to get to the reason: they were all things they didn't get to do when she did need someone to help her with them.
Emma almost felt guilty for resisting at first when they began to offer to do these things for her. She now realised they were just making up for lost time. Emma couldn't help but sometimes get a little teary about it all. She sometimes didn't realise quite how much she truly meant to them. The lengths they were willing to go to just to get a glimpse of what it might have been like to parent her properly astounded Emma. It seemed like there was nothing they weren't more than willing to do for her. She really did have the best parents in the world.
