BPOV

I woke up from a peaceful night's sleep to the sound of birds chirping outside and waves hitting the beach. I was warm, but not too hot thanks to Edward's cool skin against mine. We were both still naked. I was resting my head on his chest and he was gently running his fingers through my hair.

"I want to wake up like this every morning."

Edward laughed. "You never want to go back to Forks?"

"Not if I get to wake up like this."

"I can't decide if you're happier about me or the sound of the waves."

"Both." I answered, raising my head up to look into his golden eyes. "Your eyes are lighter. Did you go hunt last night?"

"I did, once you were sound asleep."

"You went naked?" I asked, smirking.

"No. I wore clothes to the mainland." He laughed. "And I'm glad I did. I ran into an old friend of the family."

I was curious. "All the way out here?"

"She lives in the Amazon. So, we're the ones that are far away from home."

"She? I'm also glad you didn't go naked." Edward laughed again and I loved the sound of it. After all we had been through, it was nice to see him so carefree and relaxed.

"I agree, love. She would like to meet you. I invited her over this evening."

"Is she a vegetarian like you?"

"No, but she won't hurt you."

"I wasn't worried about that. I know you wouldn't have invited her if you thought she would. This means I have you all to myself for a few more hours?" I asked.

"You are insatiable." he replied.

"You love it."

"I do."

I rested a hand on his cheek, and he didn't think twice about doing the same with me. We both silently enjoyed our shared feelings of bliss at being alone and relaxed together, finally without fear, and in a location so beautiful as well.

I've been thinking more about your gift. I think it's interesting that we need to be touching a particular way for it to work. It's also curious how it works both ways.

Maybe there's something wrong with me?

I tell you I can read minds and you think there's something wrong with you. He smirked, reminding me of a much earlier conversation. It felt like a long time ago. Most gifts work just one way. I wonder if you will eventually be able to read minds too, or if it's just mine.

I don't know how our family would cope with two mind readers in the house.

You're right. I'm sure we would entirely annoy all of them.

You sure we won't just annoy them with the constant sex?

Edward growled softly, his eyes darkening despite the recent hunt. I raised my head up level with his and slowly licked his bottom lip. He immediately grabbed me in his arms more firmly and brought his tongue out to tangle with mine, wasting no time in starting to enjoy the next few hours alone together.

We were soaking in a bath quietly, happily, when my stomach started to growl more loudly than the soft music in the background.

"I need to remember to feed my human more often." he laughed.

"You've had more important things to do."

"Is that so?"

"Yes, me."

"What am I ever going to do with you and that filthy mind of yours?"

"Do you want me to start mentally singing dirty lyrics again? Emmett has insisted I learn some new songs since the last incident."

"No, I'm quite happy with the jazz album we're listening to." he smiled gently.

"Are you sure?"

"How about some breakfast?"

"You're changing subjects." I accused.

"I am. Bacon or sausage?"

"Sausage." I said in a low voice with a wink.

"You are going to be the death of me." He paused, shaking his head. "I'm going to get out of the tub before we spend all day in here making love."

"Would that be such a bad thing, husband?"

He froze, eyes sparkling with joy as a smile lit up his whole face. "Never a bad thing." But still he got out of the tub, dried himself off, leaving a towel within reach for me, as he went to dress and make me breakfast. I laid back enjoying the warm water a little while longer and the soft breeze coming in from the open windows.

Regretfully, I dried off and dressed myself when my stomach growled too loudly for me to relax any longer. I walked into the kitchen to find Edward flipping an omelet three times before it landed back in the pan.

"You timed that on purpose, show off."

"And if I did?"

"I'm impressed."

"Exactly."

I sat at the counter and Edward sat a selection of chopped fruit and juices in front of me, quickly followed by an omelet and sausage.

"You're still trying to fatten me up." I said, looking at the feast in front of me.

"And if I am?"

"I love you." I said, starting to eat. Edward laughed and cleaned the kitchen as I ate. I couldn't fathom how I could possibly be so lucky. I watched him as he moved around gracefully, and I appreciated the fact that my vampire husband who didn't even eat human food wanted to cook for me and take care of me. There was a time when I would have protested, but having shared our thoughts for so long now, I knew that it made him happy to take care of me, and that he was expecting nothing in return but my happiness.

"Sharing thoughts has been very helpful. I'm sure we've avoided all kinds of misunderstandings by now." He said.

"You seem to hear me a lot more since we got here."

"Because you love it here. And you aren't worried about anyone or anything."

"It's nice."

"It is because I'm not either. My only worry is pleasing my wife." He said, leaning down to kiss me on the head as I ate.

"I'm plenty pleased right now. This is delicious."

He laughed again and came to stand beside me. "Zafrina should be here just as the sun is starting to set. She wanted to wait until her skin wouldn't stand out quite as much just in case she ran into any humans. What would you like to do until then?"

"You."

"I should have known that would be your answer. Aren't you sore?"

"No."

"Are you sure you aren't a vampire already?"

"If I am, I guess you get to help me choke up this delicious breakfast later." I stuck my tongue out at Edward and his laughter made me smile. "And perhaps take me for a hunt."

"Maybe not then."
