Chapter 16: Revelations and Discoveries

Daryl watched as Kagome's group met Wade at their SUV. He had just finished his shower and needed some fresh air. He had a lot on his mind. Such as Kagome's powers, her healing him, not to mention how it felt.

It made him feel like there was actually hope in this place. Like he mattered, made an actual difference, and warm. He honestly didn't know how to feel about it. Nothing had ever made him feel like that before. Not his brother, definitely not his father. No one.

He got goosebumps just thinking about it. Running a had through his still damp hair, he walked off of the wrap around porch towards where he knew his tent was. He needed to think.

As he was walking past the Rav4 where Kagome's group was together, he caught Kagome's sapphire gaze with his midnight blue. Her and Chouko waved at him in greeting, he gave them a short nod in return before continuing to walk towards his tent.

Once he got to his tent he plopped down and picked up one of his arrows, he twiddled it around for a bit before he started poking it through the mesh of the tent.

Why did she make him feel like that?

Was it her powers?

No, it wasn't just her powers, even if she hadn't of been able to heal him as she did. He was pretty sure that she still would have been overly friendly towards him and try to make him feel comfortable. She seemed to be like that towards just about everyone.

Except for Shane, he noticed the looks she was giving him while he was talking about Otis. She could smell his bullshit also. Seemed like Wade did as well.

Before he could ponder anymore he heard a quiet "Hey" outside of his tent. Looking over he saw Andrea entering his tent. She handed him a book.

Raising an eyebrow at her he opened it up and flipped through some of the pages.

She crouched down. "I know it's not that great."

Looking through a few more of the pages, he smirked. "What, no pictures?" He couldn't help but ask.

Chuckling quietly. Andrea shook her head. Before replying. "I'm so sorry, I feel like shit."

Putting the book down, Daryl readjusted his pillow. "Yeah, you and me both." He lied. He couldn't tell her that Kagome pretty much healed him. It was a good thing she didn't heal him completely. He forgot to reapply bandages when he got out of the shower. Good thing there was still a small cut on his head.

Andrea sighed again, she did feel awful about shooting him. "I know you will never forgive me, but if there is an-"

Daryl interrupted her."Its ok, you were trying to protect the group, we're good. Have you apologized to Kagome yet?" He couldn't help but ask.

"I was going to apologize after I got done talking to you. Wade gave me a thorough talking to earlier. Pretty sure I am on his shit list now."

Snorting, Daryl nodded. "Yeah, well he isn't the only one. Was pretty sure Greg and Souta were going to throttle you for a while there." He was actually surprised that they didn't. Especially Greg, the country boy was hot tempered.

Andrea stood up and took a step out of the tent. "I was under that impression too. I'll see you later." She said as she started making her way towards where Kagome's group was.

"Hey."

Turning around she looked back at Daryl. "Yes?"

"Shoot me again, you'd best pray I'm dead." He joked lightly.

She gave him a small before turning around and heading towards Kagome's group.

"Hey sis."

Kagome looked over to Souta who was brushing Remy. It looked like he had already brushed off another dog there was so much fur. Remy was in heaven though. "Yes Souta?"

Looking around to make sure no one else was around them, though Wade was nearby, he already knew about Kagome's powers. Greg was a ways away, working on the Rav, Chouko as with him. He had to ask. "Did you heal Daryl?"

The question was expected. She was waiting for him to ask. "I did a little. He kind of found out about my powers while we were out. I found out that I can actually purify walkers. Was a complete accident."

That was not what he was expecting. "Wait, you couldn't before, how can you now?" She had tried so many times before, but it never worked out.

She shrugged. "I honestly don't know, Daryl saw the aftermath however. I had to give him a water downed version of my travels and what I am."

"How did he take it?"

Both siblings turned around to look at Wade, who was leaning against a tree. They both flushed in embarrassment at being caught talking about Kagome's powers in the open.

Rubbing the back of her head, Kagome avoided Wade's green hues. "Surprisingly well. I am pretty sure if I had told him about my powers before this whole zombie mess started, he wouldn't of believed me. I was watching him carefully, he looked panicked for only a few moments. He promised he wouldn't tell any in his group."

By the time she finished, she was looking right into Wade's emerald green eye's. "Even though we have known him for an extremely short amount of time. I trust him to keep my secret. I promised him, that when the time felt right, that I would tell Rick."

Wade had to resist the urge to sigh. He knew it was pointless to argue with her, not to mention he learned that her gut instincts were usually right. So if she trusted Daryl, he would trust her judgment. "Alright, lets just hope he keeps his promise." The sniper ruffled her hair affectionately, earning himself a grumble and swat in return. He graced her with a rare smile.

She was flushed again, she didn't know out of embarrassment or frustration. Why was everyone doing that to her today? She just brushed her hair too. It made it worse that she heard Souta snickering behind her.

Huffing, Kagome did her best to fix her now messed up hair, trying to will the blush on her cheeks away. "Speaking of my powers, we need a change of subject, I feel Andrea coming towards us."

At the mention of the older woman's name, Wade's eyes narrowed slightly. He looked to where he knew Rick's group to be camped at, sure enough, Andrea was walking towards them.

"I don't want you alone with her either."

Nodding, Kagome turned to where Andrea was walking from. "No complaints there." Once Andrea was closer to them, she gave the older woman a small, somewhat strained smile. "Good Morning, Andrea. Can we help you with something?"

For her part, Andrea looked every bit like a kicked puppy. She found the ground very interesting for a moment before lifting her gaze up to Kagome's striking blue eyes. She took a deep breath, might as well get this over with. "I wanted to apologize, about yesterday. I feel really bad." Why did she feel as if all her sins were out in the open just by looking into Kagome's eyes? It was as if she was being judged.

It made her feel uneasy. It didn't help that Wade and Souta were giving her a stare down as well. Kagome's were the most unnerving though.

Kagome regarded her for a moment, before sighing. If they were to stay with this group for a prolonged amount of time, they needed to get along. "It's... fine. I understand that you were just wanting to protect the group. I... understand. Try not to let it happen again though, alright?" She heard Souta muttering under his breath how she would be dead if she shot her again.

Letting loose a breath she didn't know she was holding. Andrea nodded vigorously. For some reason she thought that Kagome would be more upset. "I understand, once again, I am very sorry. I also have this for you." She reached into her pocket and pulled out a small arrow head. "I know its not much, but Dale said it was a genuine arrow head, I thought that you could use it." She explained as she held it out to Kagome.

Gently taking the arrow head from her, Kagome gave her a genuine smile. "Thank you Andrea, I will be sure to put it on one of my arrow's."

Nodding stiffly, Andrea then looked to Wade, who was looking at her blankly. "Rick and Shane are also going to be teaching everyone interested, how to shoot a gun. They wanted me to extend the invitation to you guys if you were interested."

Wade raised a single eyebrow and nodded. "Thank you, Gregory and I have already started teaching Kagome, Souta, and Chouko how to fire a gun though." He replied.

Having nothing else to say, Andrea said her good bye's and went back to where the others in her group were at.

When she walked past Greg, he stuck his tongue out at her as soon as she passed him. It earned him a chuckle from Chouko. Closing the hood of the Rav, he walked towards the others with Chouko on his heels. Wiping his hands off on a rag.

Once he got up to them, he slung the dirty rag over his shoulder. "I don't like that woman." He huffed.

"Kagome and the others know to not be alone with her." Wade explained. "Is the Rav good to go?" He asked.

Giving the thumbs up, Greg smirked. "Hell ya, while we are out though, we need to be on the look out for some oil. I need one more quart for a full change. We're good on the filter."

Nodding, Kagome looked at Souta and Chouko. "I want the both of you to stay here. Do not be alone with Andrea or Shane. Stay near Daryl if you have too. I don't think he'll mind."

Both teens groaned.

"Why can't we come, sis?" Souta asked, he crossed his arms over his chest. He wanted to help her find another vehicle, it was her birthday gift after all.

"Because we need you to keep an eye on things here." Wade explained before Kagome could. "Do you want us to leave Remy here?" He asked. Said dog was currently sitting between him and Kagome.

"No, I think we'll be fine. You guys be safe while you're out looking for another vehicle." Chouko smiled at all the adults before taking Souta's arm. "We can handle ourselves, we've got our weapons with us."

Souta looked defeated, though slightly embarrassed, but didn't complain anymore. "Be safe, sis." He gave her a hug, then waved good bye to her while him and Chouko walked towards Daryl's tent.

Once both teens were out of ear shot, Greg chuckled. "I bet cha soon, he is going to tell her his feelings. I give it another month, tops." He laughed again at the horrified look on Kagome's face before going to the drivers side of the Rav.

Kagome groaned while getting into the front seat. "I know. I'm surprised he hasn't already, we've known her for three years. She is the only other person we know of from Japan now."

Wade watched Kagome out of the corner of his eye for a moment, before opening the back of the Rav. "If our luck keeps going as it is, he should soon. We need to keep a good thing going while we can." Wade explained while putting Remy in the back of the Rav and then getting in the back seat.

Greg nodded while starting up the vehicle and making their way back to where they first met Dale. "No complaints there. Though that ain't the only thin' I'm waiting on though."

Blinking, Kagome tilted her head and looked at Greg confused. She didn't notice Wade stiffen slightly behind her. "What do you mean?" She couldn't help but ask.

Trying to hide his grin, but failing miserably. Greg kept his eyes on the road. "Oh nothing Darlin'. Don't ya worry your pretty little head 'bout it. Now, we need to be on the look out for a reliable vehicle for ya. While ya might want to pick out one that is brand spankin' new, I don't advise it, even though it is new and less likely to have something wrong with it. There are probably less of them on the road, so if somethin' does go wrong with it, we're less likely to find the required parts to fix it. I saw that Hyundai Ricks group has, and that thing ain't gonna last long. Not to mention that they are more of a pain in the ass to work with than older vehicles. So we want to be looking for something a few years old or more. We want to stay domestic, so be on the look out for Ford, Dodge, Jeep, Chevy, and the like. The only foreign I might accept is Honda since you see them everywhere. However, since ya want something with four wheel drive, their CRV isnt the best at it, so they're out unless ya really want one. Hell, I might look for something to replace the Rav. This damn thing is so cramped, sucks we didn't have much of a choice on it at the time. Anyway, I would personally look for a Jeep or Ford, while the Chrysler engine in Jeeps may be finicky at times, they are about the best you can get for off roadin' when it comes down to it. Oh man, I remember the Wrangler I had when I was younger-"

Smiling, Kagome shook her head and tuned him out once he started reminiscing about his old Jeep. Looking behind her at Wade, she noticed the same amused look on his face. Shaking her head, she pulled out a bag of Jerky and some Cliff bars, she offered some to Wade and he took it with with a quite "thanks". Quickly looking at Greg to make sure he was still going down memory lane, which he was. She looked back at Wade. "Have any input?" She ask him in a low voice.

Taking a bite out of a chocolate chip cliff bar, he thought it over for a moment, he shook his head and replied in just as low a voice. "He knows what he is talking about, so follow his lead on this one. I do have a soft spot for Jeeps myself though..."

Kagome couldn't help it and chuckled louder than she intended too.

"Right? I knew it was stupid ta try and make that jump, but damn! The rush I got from it was amazing, just a shame that I broke the axle from the landing." Greg laughed at himself. "That was a good Jeep though."

Seems that her chuckle was well timed. "I'm sure it was Greg." She agreed. Looking back towards the road, she noticed that they were getting close to where they met up with Dale and T-Dog. She could make out the long line of cars in the road. She then looked back at Greg. "When we get there, I want to check out the car Dale told me about. He said that they left some supplies for Sophia on a cream colored vintage Mustang." She then flushed slightly. "I'm not sure what one looks like though, not an old one anyway."

Wade rested a hand on her shoulder and smiled slightly. "It's alright, I'll help you look for it while Greg is looking for a good car for you. " He then looked to Greg. "Is that alright with you?"

"Sur' is!"

Smiling at both of them, Kagome nodded. "Sounds good, once we check it out we can look also."

Nodding, Wade sat back and put his food away, then unbuckled his seat belt and got his pistol ready and extra magazines.

Following suit, once Greg stopped the Rav, she got out and went to the back to let Remy out. Once he was out, her and Wade went to the area Dale told her the Mustang should be at. Remy was following beside them. She made sure to have her senses out to chance sensing her.

Not sensing much besides some stray walkers, which was still weird for her to (kind of) sense now, and some nearby animals. She followed Wade, looking for a cream colored car.

"I wonder if she has been back here." She mused aloud.

"Its possible, if she is smart, she'll stay in the same general area where she got separated." Wade commented. He then noticed something. "Huh, well, it seems like we wont be low on water for a while. Look at this Kagome." He said motioning to a large vehicle.

"Hmm?" Looking to where he was, she noticed that one side of it was open and that it still had about half of the Water Cooler replacement jugs in it. "Oh wow, we should take as many as we can when we find another vehicle. There is no telling when we will be this lucky again. If we're lucky, we'll be at Hershel's a while and just use his wells."

Wade nodded. "Smart thinking. I think we could fit three or four of them in the Rav with out it being too cramped, especially if we get another SUV for you today and split supplies between the vehicles. We may be able to take six of them with us, maybe more if we pack the vehicles tight."

"I wonder if Rick's group took some of these." She mused.

"Probably."

Walking past the truck, Kagome spotted a old cream colored car. "Hey Wade, is this it?"

Looking to where Kagome was, Wade nodded. "Yeah, that is it."

Smiling, Kagome called Remy and jogged towards the car. Wade was following at a slower pace behind her. She could make out writing on the car and saw some Gatorade bottles and food on the trunk. Once she got closer, she could see open bags of chips and candy bars, there was a few open bottles of water and gatorade too.

Someone had been here!

"Wade! Someone's been here, look!"

Once he got closer, Wade noticed all the open food bags too. "You're right." Taking a closer look, he noticed something. "Hey, Kagome, someone was here recently, look-" he motioned to an open water bottle. "the water hasn't changed into a vapor yet, or condensed along the inside of it. Can you sense anything? This is less than an hour old."

Gasping, Kagome immediately looked around and spread her senses out as far as they could go, doing her best to filter out any walkers or animals she sensed.

After a few tense moments, she almost gave up, but then she sensed something off to their east. It was definitely human.

"I think I found her! She is to our east, maybe a quarter mile and is making her way towards us. She'll be here in less than ten minutes if she keeps heading this way." Kagome couldn't help but smile. She really hoped it was her.

Smiling himself, Wade put a hand on Kagome's shoulder and squeezed it gently. "Good job, lets tell Greg we found the car and that someone has been here. Just in case its not Sophia, so we can be ready."

Beaming up at him, she nodded and heading towards where she could sense Greg at.

Once they found him, he was looking over a dark gray Ford Escape.

Kagome got to him first. "Greg! We found the car, someone has been to it. Some of the food and drinks have been eaten and drank." She explained.

Both of Greg's eyebrows rose up. "Oh? That's awesome. Wonder if its the lil' girl." He wondered. "If it's not though, we should be ready, just in case."

"That is what we were thinking. Any luck with this Escape?" Wade asked, eyeing the SUV. It looked ok on the outside, but you couldn't go by looks. He noticed Kagome looking the SUV over too.

Leaning back against the front of it, Greg shook his head. "She looks pretty on the outside, but she's got some bad rotors and I saw a pretty bad oil leak coming from the oil pan." He sighed, but immediately perked up. "However, there is a Jeep Grand Cherokee a few cars ahead that I wanna check out next. I've got high hopes for it."

He looked almost giddy.

Laughing to herself, Kagome was wondering if he was more excited about getting another vehicle than she was. Which was very possible.

Picking his tool box up, Greg motioned to where a dark blue Jeep could be seen. From where they were, they could already see a full sized spare and a turtle on the top rack. "Well lets go look at 'er!" He exclaimed, heading towards the Jeep. It looked almost like he had a little skip in his step.

Chuckling, Wade put a hand on Kagome's lower back gently. "Lets follow him before he decides to keep it for himself." He removed his hand and followed after Greg.

Flushing slightly, Kagome nodded and followed after them both after Remy nudged her hand with his nose.

She was about half way to the Jeep when she sensed something. Stopping, she looked towards where she could sense it and couldn't stop her gasp. Grabbing the attention of everyone.

Following her line of sight, both men froze when they saw what was walking out of the tree line.

It was a young girl.

It was Sophia.

There it is! Tried to make this one a little bit longer than my previous chapters, this one is 8 pages!

Anyway, to my announcement. I am kind of thinking about pairing Kagome with Wade also. It seems to be popular with you guys and I can do the story with him with her also. However, I am still really for Kagome just being with Daryl, just with some Wade/ Kagome fluff before those two get together.

Or, if you guys want, I can try making another story where Kagome is with Wade, or a Wade/ Reader kind of thing, though Im not too fond of the later idea.

Please let me know what you guys think! Will try to update more frequently now that I have more time.
