Twin trouble
Pearsons asked for a oneshot of James, pretending to be David, arriving at the loft in the Underworld. He starts saying really hurtful things to Emma, opening old wounds. Snow confronts her "husband" not understanding what's got into him. She soon realises who he is and kicks his ass.
James smiled smugly to himself, looking down at his brother's unconscious body. Now it was time for him to have a little fun.
He strutted all the way over to where he knew his twin's family were staying during their stint in the Underworld. He walked right through the front door and saw Snow and Emma talking in the living room.
"Did you find anything?" Snow asked him. James tensed slightly, in order for them not to immediately know he wasn't David he was going to have to play along with whatever story they told."
"No, nothing." James said, pretending to be disappointed. Obviously, whatever they wanted, he didn't really care. He was here to do one thing: mess with David's family. He knew what his brother's weak spot was. In particular that meddling little daughter of his.
"It's ok. We're still waiting on Hook to come back. He might find something." Emma said, trying to encourage her father. David looked over at her.
"Do you think the pirate will be able to find something I couldn't?" He asked in a cutting tone. Emma and Snow both looked surprised. It wasn't like David to be unkind to Emma.
"No, that's not what I meant. He was looking somewhere totally different from you. He'll be following different leads." Emma explained herself. James sighed angrily.
"You still don't have any faith in us, do you Emma? If you think the pirate can solve all your problems, why did we bother coming down here?"
"Dad." Emma said, hurt. What had got into him? Snow was beginning to wonder the same thing.
"No, Emma. In fact, regardless of what that idiot finds, I'm beginning to wonder why we're putting our lives in danger yet again for you. We could have stayed in Storybrooke with your brother. Left you to take your chances down here if that's what you wanted, but no, we allowed ourselves to be dragged down here and potentially leave the baby an orphan just like you." James spat. He wasn't really angry, but he loved creating a bit of drama. By this point, Emma had tears building up.
"I never made you come with me." She croaked. "And I'm not an orphan."
"You sure as Hell act like one." James grumbled. Emma felt like her heart was shattering. How could her dad say things like that? By this point, Snow was done.
"David, outside." She said. She didn't know what had got into her husband, but this was unacceptable. James walked out the door and followed him out and shut the door.
"What is wrong with you? You know how hard we've worked to patch things up with Emma, why are you destroying all that effort?" She asked him.
"Maybe she needed to be told some home truths." James answered simply. Snow just didn't understand.
"What about that was true? Emma doesn't act like an orphan anymore and she hasn't for months. I don't know if you've had a bad day or what, but that's not Emma's fault. You are going to try and fix this. Emma didn't deserve that." James scoffed.
"Like Hell am I apologising to that brat. Let her cry." Snow couldn't believe what she was hearing. David would never call Emma a brat. He couldn't stand her crying…that's when she twigged. This wasn't David.
"James." She snarled. James gave a sinister smile.
"Took you long enough."
"Where is my husband?" Snow demanded.
"Taking a little nap. Does Emmy Wemmy need one too? I still owe her one from Cruella." James threatened. Without warning, Snow jerked her knee up and hit him in the groin. James fell to his knees, winded. Snow grabbed him by the hair and held him against the wall.
"Threaten my child again and you'll know all about it." Snow warned him. "You stay away from my family. Emma is having a hard enough time without a rotten to the core uncle making it ten times harder than it needs to be. Oh, and this is for my husband." Snow said before punching James square on the nose. He gasped in pain. At the noise, Emma came out into the hallway. She was just in time to see her mom boot what she thought was her dad down the corridor. "Now scram!" Snow demanded. James stumbled away, humiliated in defeat, Emma was so confused.
"What is going on?" She asked. Snow gave her a hug, knowing James' words would have had an effect.
"That wasn't your father. That was his twin." Snow explained. Now Emma understood.
"James." She remembered. Snow nodded.
"It was him saying all those cruel lies. Your dad would never say anything like that, you know that Emma." Snow told her. Emma nodded, she did know that.
"Come on, now we have to find my real dad." She said. Snow followed after her closely. Clearly they had a few enemies in this town as well as friends.
