Naming ceremony

Leahgrace asked for a oneshot of the Charming having a naming ceremony for Emma since she didn't get one as a baby.

"Granny's is sure packed tonight." Emma commented, looking around the diner. Sure, it was always going to be the regular haunt for the people of Storybrooke, but that night it was especially full.

"Really, I don't know what you mean." David said nonchalantly. Emma raised an eyebrow. She looked between her parents and son.

"You all look too casual." Emma pointed out.

"How can someone look too casual?" Snow laughed.

"Come on, you must have noticed that Granny's is much busier than usual. It's weird that you're all not commenting." Emma said. Her parents looked between each other.

"Do you think it's busier?" Snow said, smiling at David. David looked around the diner.

"I don't know, Snow. Maybe we should ask them." Before Emma could ask what was going on, her dad got up and tapped his knife against his glass. A silent hush fell over the diner.

"Everybody, we would like to thank you all got joining us here tonight." He announced to the room at large. Emma felt her face heating up, what was going on? It only got worse when they both got up and stood behind her.

"As you all know, we forwent the traditional naming ceremony traditions with our son Neal for a dinner here at Granny's. You'll also know that we didn't have the opportunity with our daughter because of the first curse."

"So, we decided that she was long overdue her own naming ceremony." David said as both her and Snow smiled at Emma. Meanwhile, she was sliding down the chair trying to cover her face as best she could. Both her parents placed a hand on one of Emma's shoulders. "So, without further ado, we have someone we would like to introduce to you."

"Our daughter's first name was chosen for it's meaning. When my husband and I first got together, we both knew it was forever. There was only one thing that could further our love: expanding our family. So when we fell pregnant, that was the beginning of that part of our journey. Everything was coming full circle for us. For nine beautiful months with her, I felt truly whole. So we chose a name that represented that. Which is why our daughter's first name will be Princess Emma." Snow explained. Emma's blush was cooling. That was…kinda nice. She had never heard that story before.

"As well as this, the princess has a middle name." David continued. Emma began to perk up. She had a middle name? "We would never have been able to start a family if it wasn't for one brave woman. My mother. She sacrificed her own life to give Snow and I the gift of children. It is thanks to her that Emma and Neal were both born. So we have decided that Emma's middle name shall honour her. Ladies and gentlemen, if you could please raise your glasses to Princess Emma Ruth." David called, as he and Snow raised their own glasses.

"Princess Emma Ruth!" The guests called, joining in the toast.

Snow and David took their places back in the booth opposite Emma.

"That wasn't too bad." Emma said quietly. "Thanks guys."

"You're welcome, sweetheart." Snow said, smiling warmly at her.

"It was your right to have one." David added. Emma smiled bashfully at her parents. They weren't half cute sometimes.
