Someone who can understand- part 2

Several people have asked for a oneshot of a sequel to Ch3144 "Someone who can understand" involving Caleb comforting Emma.

It was a tense wait for the parents back in the apartment as they waited for Caleb to find Emma. What if he didn't find her? What if by the time he did she had crossed the town line and it was too late? Snow could kick herself for what she had done. Her relationship with Emma was already so fragile, this would have set them back to where they began. At that moment though, all Snow and David cared about was seeing both their children home safe and sound.

Eventually, they heard the front door opening. They both jumped to their feet and moved towards it in time to see Caleb supporting Emma into the house. She was shivering with Caleb's jacket draped around her shoulders.

"Oh sweetheart, let me-"

"I've got this." Caleb snapped coldly at his mother. Snow shrunk back to beside David, feeling another piece of her heart chip off.

Caleb supported Emma over to the couch where he got her sitting down. He quickly got her a blanket from the linen closet and covered her with it. Caleb then kneeled down in front of his little sister and smiled at her.

"You gave me a bit of a fright there, Em." He admitted. "Running off like that. It was like you used to do when we were kids. I told you then and I'm telling you now. It doesn't matter how far you run in this world, kid. I'll only be a step behind you." He reminded her. Emma just stared up at her big brother, still traumatised from the events earlier in the day.

"I'm sorry." She said quietly. She turned around and looked at her dad. "I could have killed you…"

"It was our fault." David said quickly. "We came too close. You told us to give you some space and we didn't listen. I'm fine though, Emma." He reassured her. "No real harm done." Emma nodded, still shaking so violently. Snow and David both desperately wanted to wrap her in their arms and just let her know she was safe here, but they knew there was only one pair of arms she felt safe in: her brother's. As if on cue, Caleb leaned forward and pulled Emma into a warm embrace.

"You're gonna be ok, kid." He promised her. "I'll keep you safe. This is going to pass, this whole magical explosions thing. It's just new to you. You'll get used to it. Don't let the Snow Queen get inside your head." He tried to get through to her, but not even Caleb knew if Emma was fully taking in what he was saying.
