Hello! Thank you all so much for your support! just knowing that people have seen this and enjoyed this gives me life!

Skaisy, I am hoping to add a bit of romance (besides Philinda, of course,) I may end up doing a bit of Dousy, because I really think they'd be a fun, snarky couple to write but I think it'll really depend on how the story goes.

Phil had been pacing back and forth for the past 30 minutes, and it was beginning to drive Melinda crazy.

"Phil." She stated, firmly but not unkindly.

Phil Coulson stopped pacing, turning to face his wife. At her returned glare, he smiled sheepishly.

"I'm sorry. I'm just anxious. We've been preparing for this for months." He took a seat next to Melinda May-Coulson, but he continued to tap his foot on the ground. May would've commented, but she knew he needed some outlet for his nervous energy.

"We've been here for the past two hours. Is that a bad sign? do you think that's a bad sign?" he blurted out, to which his wife had just stared at him, sighing.

Phil knew he wasn't helping the nervous energy in the room, but he couldn't help it. It had taken years for Phil to convince Melinda that they should look into fostering. He knew she was afraid after the incident that had caused her to resign from teaching, but that had been years ago, and even then he knew that she would make a great mother.

"I don't know, Phil. I just don't think we're ready to be parents. And besides, you have your students at Lincoln High. Don't you see enough teenagers?"

He put his hand on hers and smiled, replying with a soft "just consider it."

He was snapped out of his reverie as the door opened, their social worker stepping out. He sucked in a breath unconsciously, buzzing with anticipation.

The social worker smiled. "Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Coulson. Your license should be in order by the end of the week."

Melinda watched as an unabashed, goofy grin split across her husband's face, one of which she couldn't help but replicate; although hers was a bit more reserved.

Phil turned to look at May, practically jumping for joy. He knew she was just as ecstatic as he was, noting the sparkle in her eye she got when she was happy. He remembered falling in love with that same sparkle years ago, the first time he told one of his stupid jokes and got a genuine reaction.

"We're gonna be parents." He couldn't help but smile wider at the concept. He had been looking forward to this for years.

May nodded softly, looking at him with a love reserved only for him.

"yeah, Phil. Yeah we are."

I hope you guys liked this chapter! I would really appreciate if you could leave a review and tell me your thoughts! I know this chapter was shorter, but the good news is that I might be able to get another one up later! I have the first few written, but I just want to go over them and make sure I'm posting the best content I possibly can!
