UTI
Ouatfan asked for a oneshot of Emma having a UTI and having bed wetting problems as a result. She tries to hide it from her parents, but they find out. They have a conversation with her and reassure her that they can talk about anything, that she doesn't have to be ashamed or insecure. That their love in unconditional. She gets really touched as she is used to being abandoned when she's sick. Set as though Emma broke the curse as a teenager.
Emma was mortified when she got found out. It was bad enough for her at sixteen knowing she'd wet the bed without anybody else finding out. She was hoping if she got the sheets washed and dried before her parents got up in the morning nobody would ever have to know this stupid infection was causing her to wet the bed. Unfortunately, Emma drifted off while her bedding was in the dryer. When she woke up, daylight was streaming through the windows. She sat up, startled. Her face paled as she looked in the dryer and found that it was empty. She had been found out.
"We've put clean bedding on your bed." Came a gentle voice from the doorway. Emma spun around, her face scarlet. Both her parents were standing there.
"Emma, it's alright." David said calmly, sensing her embarrassment. "It makes sense, seeing as you've had a UTI. It's nothing to be ashamed about." Emma didn't respond, she was too mortified. Then underneath her embarrassment, she was frightened that she would be sent away.
"Emma, you don't need to hide anything from us." Snow promised her daughter. "Nothing is too small. We promise never to make you feel bad about it, especially if it's because you're sick."
Emma nodded, not really sure what to say. Until she'd come to Storybrooke, getting sick was almost always the end of her stay somewhere. Her actual parents were the first not to care.
Snow and David didn't want to force Emma into having a proper conversation about it just now. She was clearly tired and she was still adapting to life with her family.
"It's still early, sweetheart. Why don't you go up to bed and get another couple of hours? I'll call the school and say you'll miss first period." David told her. Emma nodded and slipped past them both, shuffling back up to bed. Maybe things would be different now.
