Chapter 21: Going Down Under

Skylar's POV

Jesse Turner's powers have grown strong. He somehow can alter his form to be someone older than an eleven-year-old. Castiel mentions the when Lucifer has risen, all the Cambions on the earth shall become stronger. Now seeing what reality-warping and teleportation can do. I just sat there for an hour, grasping everything. Also, being around a Cambion meant hidden from angels and demons.

Jesse smiled after I agreed to pretend I was his older sister. So, Jesse used his powers in altering my clothes suited for this humid weather. Afterward, we went to the location where the junior surfing competition was being held, and I sign Jesse in. As Jesse prepared, I tried contacting Bobby on my cellphone. He must be freaking out right now, thinking Lucifer has gotten me.

Suddenly the phone was grasped out of my hand. Jesse looked at me in panic. "You can't call anyone."

"Jesse, you grabbed me at a bad time, and I need to tell a friend where I am," I explained.

"But Sam and Dean said…" he stopped.

I paused, remembering the ultimate conversation about how evil will track Jesse. That demons would use him to destroy the heavenly host. "I promise not to give your location. I'll just tell Bobby, the man in the wheelchair, that an angel grabbed me and dropped me off somewhere else. But I need him to know where I am…okay?"

Jesse nodded as he pulled out a different phone. He said it was international before walking over to a food stand. I sighed, dialing Bobby's number, and waited. Not getting through, I left a message. "Bobby, it's me, Skylar. I'll call again, please pick up."

After hanging up and waiting ten minutes, I called again. This time I got through, "Skylar, where the hell are you?"

"Um…Somewhere tropical?" I answered.

"What?" Bobby asked, confused.

"I am somewhere tropical. One minute I was walking through your door and the next on a beach with some angel." I lied.

"Did the angel say anything?" Bobby asked.

"Nope, just I'll be safe here and vanished." I lied again.

Bobby sighed on the other end. I could imagine him rubbing his eyes. "I'll see if Castiel can pick you up."

"Bobby, I think it's better if I stay here for a while," I said.

"Skylar, we're gonna need your help." He reminder.

"I know, but the deeper I go in, the more painful it shall become. I just lost my mom and Jo, and not too long ago, one of my friends. I need a break. Please, Bobby, just give me a month or two."

I begged. "I'll keep in contact."

Bobby gave a groan, "Fine, but if you sense trouble, you come back. Got it?"

"Copy that," I repeated.

After exchanging a few words, I hang up. Jesse came back with ice cream telling me how excited he was to finally be in a surfing competition. As we waited for the competition, Jesse told me how he was doing here since the last encounter. After leaving, Jesse teleported to Australia and snuck into a family shelter. He lied, saying his mom was working and used his powers like mind control. Once he was settled, he joined a surfing club learning his favorite sport. Until coming across special children just like him, a shifter who took everyone is named Tony, a natural witch name Sienna, and other creatures.

"So why aren't any of your friends here to cheer you on?" I asked.

"Um…I saw you were in danger, so I brought you here," Jesse answered.

"Wait, what?" I asked.

"I had this dream of you getting hurt, so I brought you here. And since you know how all this works, maybe you can help us understand." He explained.

"This sort of goes against the hunter's code," I murmured. Jesse gave me a pout. But knowing this kid holds the keys. "Then again, I am a researcher, not a hunter."

Jesse smiled then took a bite of his ice cream. I sighed, taking a bite of my own, thinking about how this is going to happen.

.o0o.

The surfing competition went well. Jesse had fun even though he did not win, he did show some skill. I was exhausted, noting it was probably the middle of the night back in South Dakota right about now. So, after hearing who won and the award ceremony, Jesse teleported us to his hideout. We were somewhere in the outback isolated—a large house center, weather-worn with metal grates around the windows.

Jesse walked, setting his surfboard against the wall before opening the door. "Come on, I'm sure they won't bite."

"That's not reassuring," I grumbled, adjusting my computer bag before entering.

Inside, the house seemed less occupied. Like it was a rental with necessary furniture and an old TV. There were toys on the floor, old used toys as a couple of children around six played. My ability started to register in what these children could be and that we're not alone.

"Jesse, you home?" A woman called out from the kitchen.

"Yeah, and Skylar's here," Jesse answered.

"Bring her here, mate," the woman said.

Jesse took my hand, leading the way to the kitchen. A young woman, about my age with light-dark skin and curly dark hair. I could guess she was Aboriginal or from the tribes, while a talisman she wore indicated she was a witch. She smiled as she set down a plate filled with cooked meat.

"Sienna, this is Skylar, the researcher I told you about," Jesse introduced.

"The Know it," Sienna cheered. "Jesse told us a lot about you."

"I hope they were good," I replied.

"A bit of a mix," she confirmed. "So, is it true you have powers?"

"Yeah, you can say I am an Athenian, clairvoyant," I explains.

"Sienna, let the Yank sit down before she collapses from the heat. Jesse, mate, go take a shower." A male voice instructed. I can only assume it was Tony, like the fella in his mid-twenties with tan skin, bleach-blond hair, and blue eyes.

Jesse nodded as he gave me a reassuring smile before heading off to the bathroom. Tony chuckled, messing the Cambion's hair before gesturing me to sit down. I did so, setting my computer bag and purse down. It felt weird to sit at a table with a witch and shifter, like the Winchesters having a demon and an angel in the back seat of the impala. I turned my head to the young children still playing on the rug.

"So, these kids go to school and live a normal life?" I asked.

"Yes, and they're doing incredibly well considering all they've been through," Sienna answered. "And their diets."

"How does this work. I mean, back where I from… all you guys are considered loners or territorial. Practically put a Skinwalker and a shifter in the same room, and it'll be a blood bath." I asked.

"Well, here in Australia, there aren't many of us except those related to the tribal legends. I, on the other hand, am half Australian." Tony explained. "My father was a shifter, had shag with my mum and left her. After five years and seeing a picture of a dark skin baby, I changed. It freaked her out that she tossed me in the outback where the dingos could eat me. Luckily a lone farmer took me in, and I grew up there for eighteen years learning to control my gifts."

"Gifts?" I repeated.

"I consider what I am and what I can do a gift. Yeah, a shifter's change is disgusting, but it's not every day you can be somebody or make way through life much easier." Tony said.

"The point is we want to give these children a chance to feel like any other kid should feel," Sienna added. "Not to be ashamed or afraid and how to control the urges."

"What if one of the kids transform in public or the predator urges comes to feast on a human?" I asked.

"I work hard in training these kids to control themselves." Tony grumbled, offended.

I took a deep breath, "I'm sorry, I'm just raised to be cautious if not worried about Jesse."

Tony relaxed a little, "After what that kid been through, I see what ya mean."

I nodded. Since November, I felt guilty about what Jesse went through from discovering he was a Cambion. His biological human mother gave him up for adoption because his father, a demon, torture people while possessing her. Over the months, the Winchesters and I thought about Jesse. Let alone Castiel keep an eye out for Jesse. The Angel still afraid the child could destroy the heavenly host.

"You're welcome to stay here," Sienna offered. "Jesse said he saw you getting hurt by an angel."

"It wasn't an angel that hurt me," I clarified, glaring at the brace. "It was the archangel Lucifer."

"What?" Tony asked.

So, I told Sienna and Tony about the Apocalypse. That the unexplainable weather throughout the world is the beginning of the Apocalypse. It would only end when Michael and Lucifer claim their true vessels and battle to declare all humanity's fate. If Lucifer wins, then the world shall be engulfed by a non-curable plague called Croatoan, wiping out humanity. But if Michael wins, officially smiting Lucifer, the world would go back to normal except for humanity's unanimous decrease. The news surprised Sienna and Tony, as I mention why Jesse had to leave his normal life because he is a powerful pawn. Now the world's fate is up to the Winchesters if they can stop it or give permission.

"Will the demons find Jesse?" Sienna asked, concern.

"No, Cambions have a way to make them appeared invisible to both demon and angel," I answered.

"What about you?" Tony asked.

"I believe being around Jesse will block them from locating me. Also, I wear an anti-possession tattoo and an Enochian invisible charm. But if any of them do show, I'll teach you how to deal with them. It's the least I can do for what you have done for Jesse." I offered.

Tony looked at me in debate. He was the alpha in the group as he and Sienna spoke quietly between each other then nodded. Sienna escorted me to a guest bedroom I could use for the time being of my stay and lend me some clothes I could borrow. The room was small, just a twin size bed, dresser, and a mirror. So, putting my things away, I helped Sienna cook while learning about the rules of the house.

.o0o.

Two months have gone by since Jesse Turner decided to kidnap me. Over those two months, I had the privilege to learn a new side of the supernatural. Not all monsters are evil, apparently. At least this small coven of misfits. Tony and Sienna genuinely are dedicated to their work of helping children who were orphaned or ran away from home because of who they were.

Most of them being shifters, werewolves, witches, Djinn, and Skinwalkers. Tony worked his hardest to train the metamorphmagus to control their transformation and stay in tune with their emotions. Sienna took her obligation on the witches and djinn-hybrid in how to their powers. The djinn-hybrid, Donnie, had it worse for their appetite of feasting on fear. Sienna worked with Donnie to control his feasting and limit the amount of toxins to distribute on his prey. After looking into my dad's journal, I joined in on the conversation that if his prey does fall into a comatose, he is to inject his blood to refuse the poison.

Bill's journal was a significant help as I help the two adults in how to train these special kids. After about a week, I stop seeing these monsters as…well, you know, monsters, but as kids. Although, during the full moon, the werewolves have to go to bed in the cellar. At least they are not chained up like dogs.

During my stay, I taught them how to deal with demons. I showed them how to create a Devil's Trap and excellent places to put them by the door or areas that most people would step into. Then I showed them how to make salt lines and circles. How it is like a barrier for both demons and ghosts. And finally, I taught Sienna how to do an Exorcism and create holy water by using rosary beads and any water source.

Even with my help with training, I do my fair share of chores. I help Sienna deal with the younglings and clean the house. Next, I help Tony at the fields in maintaining the fence, so those wild animals wouldn't come on their property. Tony said a couple of Dingoes got on their property that leads to gruesome hunting. But that wasn't the only thing we were checking. We were making sure none of the fence wires were cut and security tampered with, preventing hunters from coming. And let me tell you, five hours in Australia, and you'll be begging for actual winter.

Other than that, my time was spent with Jesse. You could say Jesse has grown a crush on me. You could tell when I compliment him on his accomplishments, which blush blossoms on his cheeks. When I asked him one time, if he was alright, Jesse deflected, saying it was just sunburn. Either way, I find it cute, though I made sure I draw the line of where we stand. Anyway, we spend our time in Sydney, especially the beach. As Jesse does his surfing while I do photography, catching the on both city and outback. Still going by the pretext that I am Jesse's older sister and got him into school with forged documents and entry for a surfing competition.

Although I contacted my friends. My college friends know of my whereabouts in Australia and demanded I bring back souvenirs when I get back. However, the Winchesters and Bobby are kept in the dark. When I do make my updates by email, I keep my location spontaneous. Right now, they think I am in Hawaii. And with the amount of distance and not know…I hardly felt anything from my clairvoyance. I mean, I do know what is going on…but I haven't felt their pain or their deaths.

Apparently, two hunters name Walt and Roy tried to stop the Apocalypse by killing Sam and Dean. The Winchesters traveled through heaven to find an angel named Joshua, who communicates with God. Sadly, their mission failed when they were resurrected, though Sam emailed me a small message. Ash said hi, and he is keeping a lookout for Ellen and Jo. To know that when a soul dies, they can rejoin their loved ones if they have the ability. I prayed that mom is with dad, along with Jo. Let alone having a word from Ash, my crazy surrogated brother.

Now I am lying on the beach taking pictures of the ocean. Jesse was eating a sausage roll as he watched the scenery as well.

"He's getting stronger," Jesse announced.

"Who is?" I asked.

"Lucifer." He answered.

Over the two months, Jesse's powers have definitely grown stronger that everybody was walking on eggshells. One-time Donnie accidentally hit Jesse, which led to an earthquake. I took it as my responsibility to keep Jesse calm as we separate ourselves from the others for the time being. So, with magic money, I got Jesse and me an apartment near the beach where he can surf yet be close to me.

"Jesse, I promise no one will take you," I promised.

"I know, but sooner or later, you'll have to go." He sighed.

I took a deep breath, "It's true, I have to go and try to help my friends. But don't forget, I'm here for you. I'm just a phone call away."

"Do you think when this is all over, I can bring my parents here?" he then asked.

"Maybe," I said. "You just need to do your thing when things are settled."

Jesse nodded as he got up and grabbed my hand. "C'mon, I want to teach you how to surf."

"I don't think that is a wise idea." I chuckled at his behavior.

With him giving me those innocent eyes and pout, I let him drag me towards the water, if not tugging on my arm. With his surfboard, he tried to teach me how to surf. Ironic for a kid to teach an adult how to surf. In the end, there was this sibling bond between us. One that assures that I will always try to protect Jesse and him relying on me to be there no matter what.

By the end of the day, we were back in the apartment with a meat pies takeout. We ate in peace as Jesse talked about how much fun he had and what we should do tomorrow. After dinner, it was getting late, so I told Jesse it was time to get ready for bed. He may look thirteen, but I still treat him as an eleven-year-old. Suddenly Jesse came up and gave me a hug.

"Thank you," he said.

"For what?" I asked, wrapping my arms around him.

"For being a sister to me." He answered.

His words fell deep into my heart as I hugged him tighter. After everything that happened last year…being here in Australia with Jesse helped me mourn much easier and distracted me from the pain.

"C'mon, shower. We got a busy day tomorrow on the list you made." I said.

Jesse quirked a smile before running off to his room. I chuckled, shaking my head before going back to washing dishes. As I washed the last plate, I felt a surge of pain in my stomach, collapsing on the floor. I held my stomach bending forward, vomiting blood. It was like a massive hemorrhage flowing through in my system. When I managed to breathe, my ear was ringing of a high pitch frequency. I covered my ears, trying to protect my hearing, thinking an angel has found me. But a minute later, everything stopped.

Taking the opportunity to breathe, I sat up, my back pressed against the counter, looking into the living room. My body riled up, lungs panting for air while the bitter taste of blood in my mouth. What the hell just happened? Or better yet, what are those Winchesters doing now?

I know, not the best chapter, but I thought Jesse should return. Also, I like to know you guy's opinion of Jesse being part of the story or not. Please leave a review to let me know or not. It is essential to me and how long this story may last.

Thanks for reading, and please leave a review!
