Hello! It means SO much to me that you all are enjoying this story! lol I check the reviews on this almost obsessively because I'm always so excited to hear your thoughts! thank you all so much!

Today there is a slight TW for violence and a minor character death. This chapter is very different, but I think the story line it produces will be really fun!

Meanwhile…

Oh God. Oh God. Oh God. She took a deep breath, looking around the alley she had wound up in. She needed to get a hold of things. She just had to make it out.

"Oh, Kora," the sing-song voice had reverberated against the closed walls of the alley. she was trapped. "Aren't you going to come give me what's owed?"

Kora looked down to the diamond necklace in her bloody hands. It was an accident. It was an accident. It was an accident. She bit back tears, trying to steady her voice.

"If I give you this, will you let me go?" Kora was proud of keeping her voice from shaking, but her breathing didn't slow down. She had to make it out of here. She had to get away from him. She never meant for this to happen. She hadn't meant to let him in.

"Sweetheart, come on" She heard him toss something from one hand to another- a gun? - , "You know she deserved it. She never loved you."

Kora turned around, facing him. "You weren't supposed to.. She was never meant to die, Nathan!" she couldn't keep the tremble out of her voice this time. She knew it was stupid, yelling at someone with a gun, but she couldn't help it.

She could still hear the sound of the gunshot, the sound of her scream, the betrayal in her voice.

"Kora? Where have you been? I've been worried sick!" Kora remembered the woman taking a step closer, the relief in her eyes. The relief that was quickly replaced with confusion.

Kora never knew he had a gun. How was she supposed to know? She hadn't even known where they were going. This had to be a bad dream, right? She would wake up in bed next to him, and he would reassure her. Comfort her. Right?

"Kora, who is this?"

"I believe you have something I need." Kora watched powerlessly as Nathan took a step forward. She felt terror grasp her as she saw the glint of metal as he pulled the gun out of his pocket.

Bang! Bang!

The scream stuck in her throat. No way. No way.

She turned back to Nathan, hoping for an explanation. She saw nothing in his cold, empty eyes.

Running to the woman that had fallen to the floor, she felt like she was going to be sick.

"Mom? Mom!" hot tears stung her eyes until she couldn't hold them back anymore. "Mom! please, please wake up. Mom!"

She felt like vomiting at the memory. She just needed to forget. How could he? You aren't safe, Kora. Give him what he wants. Get away. He clearly isn't above killing.

"Kora, my love. come here." he held his arms out, taking a few more steps towards her.

Kora tried moving back, but she was stuck, motionless.

"You know I just want what's best for you, right?" He stepped forward until he met her, enveloping her in a hug. whispering in her ear, he repeated "You know she never loved you. She just wanted to control you.

Was he right? he couldn't be right. Could he? Even if he was, murder is too far. Her murder was too far.

"No. No! get away from me!" she pushed against his hold, but there was no use. He held strong against her shoves, keeping her next to him.

"Oh, Kora. that's too bad."

Bang!

Kora could feel something sticky coming from her side. What was that again? It was hot. sticky. blood. Why is there blood?

Nathan guided her down on the floor of the alley, then tucked the gun in his pocket.

"We could've been the best team. You know I always get what I want, Kora."

The last thing she felt was the necklace being pulled out from her grip before the darkness consumed her senses.

Again, thank you all so much! I might get around to posting another chapter today because this one is so short, but it depends on if I can get it edited how I want it. Your reviews give me life! please keep posting them, even if it's a critique! Love you all!
