Out of love
Pearsons asked for a oneshot of Snowing being victims of a spell that makes them believe they no longer share true love. They start having daily fights and even think about getting a divorce. When they have to come together to save Emma's life the spell is broken.
Emma's little heart was breaking. This wasn't like her parents at all. Ever since she could remember, they had both loved her and they had both loved each other. Why all of a sudden were they at each other's throats all the time? Emma felt like one couldn't breathe without the other complaining it was too loud. Emma hated it. She used to love being with her parents, now she spent as much time as possible avoiding them both.
Sometimes, people forgot to check around them before speaking. Especially for children. Adults are guilty of assuming that children are not listening, when in fact, they are taking in every word. That was how Emma found out what was wrong with her parents, and a possible way to fix them. It was also how she heard her parents arguing (yet again). Only this time, they had spoken about leaving each other. This was what spurred Emma into action. She couldn't bear the thought of her parents not being together anymore.
Emma overheard two of the servants in the palace discussing how the king and queen had been taken over by a dark spell. One that made them forget their own true love for each other. Not even the servants knew who could have done such a thing, or how to make it right. Emma only knew of one group whose magic could be trusted: the fairies. Emma had seen her parents meeting with them in the forest before. She wasn't meant to leave the palace alone. She was only eight, and there were still plenty of enemies of the royals out there. Emma was willing to take the risk. Someone needed to try and rescue her mom and dad.
So when night fell and everyone assumed the young princess would be sound asleep, she snuck out of the palace and into the forest. She had to find the heart of the forest to find the fairies. That much she knew. It was going to be difficult though. It was of course pitch black, and Emma had no lamp with her. Even if she had brought one, she would have struggled to keep it lit, the rain was lashing down. Still, Emma soldiered on. Well, until she lost her footing and fell into a ditch. Emma hit her head on the way down and her world went black.
It took until the early hours of the morning for the alarm to be raised that Emma was not in her quarters. Snow had gone in to check on her daughter, having noticed that she had been quiet for a few days now. She put it down to her husband's bad mood. As soon as Snow realised Emma was missing, all fights went out the window. Snow and David might be angry with each other, but they both still cared deeply about their daughter, and would make anybody who had hurt her pay dearly.
As they hunted for their missing daughter, the strange feeling of intense anger between the couple began to ebb away. What had they been fighting for in the first place? It wasn't like them to argue at all, let alone for so long.
After what felt like forever, David found Emma lying at the bottom of the ditch. He quickly pulled her up, and as he did, Emma began to wake up. Her head was pounding.
"Sweetheart, what were you doing out here?" Snow asked, wincing at the nasty bump that was already forming on her head. They'd need to get Doc to check that over.
"The fairies." Emma murmured. "They can break the spell." Snow and David were confused. Had she been sleep walking?
"What spell honey?" David asked her. Emma looked between her parents. They no longer looked so tense. Had they broken it already?
"You two. All the fighting. Someone put you under a spell. I heard." Emma tried to explain. She was wincing. Her head hurt real bad. Snow and David couldn't believe they hadn't realised. Of course they hadn't really been angry with each other. They could never stay so angry with each other, they were madly in love.
"You clever girl." Snow praised her daughter. She reached down and gently kissed the top of her head. "You're right, Emma. Somebody clearly did put a spell on us."
"Looking for you obviously fixed us." David chimed in. "Because we were both so scared." Snow nodded in agreement. Finding out who caused this could be done later. Their priority was getting Emma back home, safe and sound. David scooped their little girl up and began to carry her back home. Emma relaxed into his arms. Finally the curse was broken.
