Chapter 28: Weekend at Bobby's
Jesse was here for his weekend visit. I was excited to see my favorite cambion. He was excited as well, since I promised to take him to Kings Dominion in Ohio. Luckily Cheryl was out of town. He has grown yet again for a preteenager. So we spent the evening having an American food dinner of the meals Jesse misses while watching his favorite TV shows. I didn't mind watching SpongeBob, though I found the older version amusing compare the newer edition.
Suddenly I have the most infamous urge and turned on my cellphone that rang a moment later and saw the caller ID as Bobby. I answered it, "City morgue, you kill we chill."
"Hilarious," Bobby said in his gruff tone.
"Hey Bobby, how's it going?" I asked, turning down the volume to the TV.
"Not good." He answered.
Not liking where this was going, I got up and went to another room. I asked him what is wrong. Bobby explained his situation and how Crowley won't give back his soul. Wait, what? A deal is a deal, Crowley would use Bobby's soul energy to track down Death and return it. Why the hell did he decide to go back on his word? Or as Bobby put it, "We iced Lucifer; you rip up your lease." Apparently, Crowley used the fine print contract excuse that he wishes he could…but couldn't. Anything Bobby tries to do, a hellhound would be after him.
"Do Sam and Dean know about this?" I asked.
"No," Bobby answered. "They're on a case."
"So why did you call me?" I asked.
"You think you can ring up Jesse and see if you two can trap a demon. I have heard of something that could help." He said.
"Jesse's here right now, let me ask him." I said walking back to the living room.
I explained the situation with Jesse. He thought about it and nodded, "Sure, anything for Professor Xavier."
"I'm not in a damn wheel chair, kid." Bobby said on speaker.
"What's the plan?" I asked.
"I need you both to get me a crossroads demon and their remains." Bobby said.
"Wait, their remains?" I asked. "Is that even possible?"
"Yeah, my dad was five hundred years old and his remains were nothing but ash." Jesse added.
"I know it sounds observe, but I got to give this a try." Bobby said. "Once you got it, bring the son of the bitch to my place."
"Okay," I sighed. "But you owe us."
"Thanks." Bobby said hanging up.
I sighed putting my cellphone away. We finished our show before I headed to my hunters vault to see if I had the ingredients to make a calling for a crossroads demon. Jesse sat on my bed watching me.
"So what is the difference between a demon and a crossroads demon?" Jesse asked.
"Physically, a crossroads demon have solid red eyes and can only be summon on the crossroads" I explained while gathering the ingredients. "What makes them different is that they make the contract."
"And what happens when you make a contract?" he asked.
"It depends on the contract. By the contract it can be anything, and the person making the contract has ten years to live before a hellhound fetches their soul and drag them to hell." I said.
"And after many years, the soul becomes a demon." Jesse finished.
"Yes." I sighed, remembering how Dean felt when he was dragged into hell. How one time he said he almost became a demon. Those four months of him gone were fourty years in hell. There are things he doesn't want to talk about. But he managed to say he hated it from both perspectives.
I grabbed what I needed and set it on the bed. Jesse's eyes widen as he saw the graveyard dirt, a black cat bone, and yarrow. I think the cat bones are what disturbed him more. I put the items in a small coffee container and printed a picture of me off my laptop. Next I got a duffel bag filled with the bag black spray paint, my gun, holy water, and iron knife.
Jesse put on his boots and jacket before offering his hand. We decided to travel on the Cambion express. As Jesse teleported us to a crossroads. It felt like a tight squeeze through a tube. I had to wait for a moment until being able to stand straight. Afterwards I took the spray paint and started painting the Devil's trap.
Once finished I put on my gun that was secured in my halter and gave Jesse the holy water and knife.
"So I stay hidden until you call for me?" Jesse asked.
"Yeah," I answered.
"Are you sure, it might be wise if I join you." Jesse said.
"I know, but you are considered the most wanted. Trust me, okay?" I said in a reassuring voice.
Jesse sighed, but nodded as he hid in the trees. I took a deep breath and placed the coffee tin center of the crossroads burying it. Taking another deep breath I read the summoning spell, "Daemon, esto subiecto voluntati meae."
I walked in circles waiting for a crossroads demon to appear. If they have a way of knowing then only the brave would approach me. A blast of wind blows from behind indicating a demon was behind me. I took a deep breath facing the creature. The crossroads demon was a woman in her thirties with tan skin and brown hair with highlights. She stood strong by her statuesque figure in a little black dress. She continued to stare at me with red eyes.
"Mmm, my, my, my, the last of the Harvelles have finally called." The demoness said, in a seductive tone. "I am honor."
I stared at her confused, "I thought I was supposed to get the opposite sex?"
"True, but all those dicks are dickless when it comes to you. But that wouldn't be a problem since you had sex with a girl." The demoness said as she walked over to me. "Now, where are those damn Winchesters? They're probably using you as bate for a damn deal breaker."
"They're not here." I said. "It's just me and you."
She smirked, "Really now, what honor do I have to make a contract with you, bitch?"
"Aren't you supposed to be nice to your clients?" I asked sarcastically.
"True, but I know all about you, Skylar Harvelle." She said.
"Well, don't keep me in suspense." I murmured. "What do you know about me?"
"Well, you have a special plan Jane beauty with talents. Greek talents." She said. "What can I do for you, Sky? Wasn't Crowley's gallery not enough for you?"
"And I thought that was a jinn hallucination." I muttered.
"He did it as a mere apology for the lost of your mom and big sister. My condolences." She said sarcastically.
"Not funny," I sneered.
"I mean, daddy's dead by a hellspawn, and your dear mom and sister are dead by a blowing themselves up." She said. "Tell me, what was it like to feel them pop?"
I took another deep breath to control my emotions. "Can we focus on business?"
"Of course, what do you so desire?" she asked.
"I want Bobby Singer's contract terminated." I answered.
"So sorry, bitch. That's not negotiable." She said walking around me like a predator.
"Really?" I said. "Dean managed to break one contract."
"He did a snake like move. But Bobby Singer is…how do ya mortal say it…prize trophy. Also, I didn't make the contract with him." She explained. "But I can offer you something else."
"And what is that?" I asked.
"I can bring Jo back." She offered. "She would live a long, healthy life, as long as she doesn't get herself kill. That's a solid deal."
"And me?" I asked.
"Since you been a good acquaintance to Crowley, I could give your twenty years, twenty long, good years with Jo and the fabulous career ahead. That's a dream come true. The Harvelle sisters, back on the field, saving people hunting things. Maybe give Dean a second chance on love if Lisa doesn't work out." She said, walking towards me with her hand now caressing my cheek.
Although, her words were so tempting. I know Jo would not approve to such a deal. Even being here, Mom, Dad, and Jo are yelling at me right now to not take the deal. I bet Jo is saying, shoot this bitch already. I placed my hands over hers acting with interest while my other hand moved to my jacket which she doesn't notice. Before she could kiss me, I placed my Ruger Mark against her temple.
"How about you be my bitch, bitch." I murmured.
"Those bullets can't kill me." She growled.
"No, but the Devil's trap can hold you." I said gesturing down.
She stood on a small black painted Devil's trap. Guessed she didn't consider it, since the color was slightly off to the actual dirt road. She growled lunging at me, but I merely stepped back to see her being bitch slap by an unknown force.
"You can come out, Jesse!" I called out.
Jesse came out walking over with the holy water. The crossroads demoness eyes widen in seeing him. Guess because Jesse was supposed to be on the forces of evil side. If not being the offspring of a very powerful demon.
"So we can do this the easy way or the hard way?" I asked holding the holy water.
"You can't break a deal." The demon growled.
"No, but you can be an excellent little birdy." I said, and then nodded to Jesse.
"Tell me your name?" Jesse ordered. "Your real name?"
The demoness struggled to not say her name, but she cried out. "Samantha Johnson."
"When were you born, when did you die, and where are you buried." Jesse ordered.
The demoness struggled in not telling us hew previous human life. I wrote this down as Jesse ordered the demoness to forget everything what has been asked. She blinked as her red eyes went back to the human shade of brown. After a while of interrogating, we can only assume Bobby can do his magic.
Jesse teleported to grab the demoness human remains while I stood there watching her.
"I can get you a free deal if you let me go," she offered.
"Sorry, but no deal can ever undo what your kind has done." I said.
"You don't know what you're getting yourself into." She seethed.
"I do, I have known since the devil gates were open." I said.
After ten minutes, Jesse returned with a sack filled with bones. However, the crossroads demon did not know this. So taking the bones, Jesse ordered the demoness to follow her as we teleported to Sioux Fall on the doorsteps of Bobby's house. I banged the door countless times until Bobby answered it. His eyes widen in seeing us.
"Delivery," I sang.
"Well shucks." Bobby said. "I owe you both."
"How about twenty dollars?" Jesse suggested.
I couldn't help but laugh at that. Anyway, Bobby told us to take the demon downstairs into the basement. Down there, there was a metal chair with a Devils trap. Bobby and I forced the demoness into the chair, handcuffing her then pulled back. She hissed at us, but she shrugged to get it off before we went upstairs.
"I don't know what to say," Bobby started.
"A thank you would suffice." I said.
"Well, thanks…I appreciate it." He said,
"No problem, Bobby." I said. "You're like a dad to me."
Bobby nodded as he placed his hand on my shoulder and gave a squeeze. It's understandable that Bobby doesn't know how to express himself. So the gesture right here is enough for me.
"Can we go now," Jesse asked with a yawn.
I chuckled, "Alright."
"And the twenty?" Jesse added, holding his hand out.
Bobby grumbled something incoherent as he pulled out his wallet to give Jesse a twenty. With a few words exchange with Bobby, wishing him a nice weekend, Jesse and I teleported back to Columbus Ohio, back in my apartment as Jesse and I crashed on my bed. The moment Jesse's head hit the pillow he was out cold. I chuckled as I laid there looking at the alarm clock to find it three in the morning.
I sighed, looking at the ceiling thinking about the offer the crossroads demon made. If I had said yes, I would have Jo back here. It has been nearly three years since Jo and Ellen passed away. Castiel assured their souls are in heaven…but the thought did not satisfy the longing to have my family. Let alone twenty years of living before becoming one of them.
With a sigh, I lay on my side and went to sleep. I'm going to need all the energy I'm going to get since I'm taking Jesse to an amusement park tomorrow.
I'm sorry for the long absence of this story. I have been busy and there was a lot going on with writers block. I hope you enjoy this chapter. It's a bit short, but the next one would be longer with lots of drama.
