Teaching Henry
Cameron Greg House asked for a oneshot of Snowing spending some quality time with Henry.
In all the rush of realising Emma was their daughter, there had been something Snow and David had been guilty of almost forgetting: Henry was their grandson. They were grandparents. They had been so busy trying to form a relationship with Emma they had neglected to form a proper family relationship with him. Well that changed now. It was time they spent some proper quality time with their grandson. They knew how into the Enchanted Forest way of life Henry was, so they decided that's how they'd spend their day together. Snow and David were going to teach Henry how to ride properly.
Together, they brought him to the stables that Saturday morning. He'd kept his promise and had been mucking out the pony David had selected for him whenever he got the chance (what with trips to Neverland and school to fit in). Henry was so excited. He'd been waiting for this moment for what felt like years.
"So are we gonna trot today?" He asked as David selected a good sized helmet for him. He chuckled at his eagerness.
"Not today kid. Gotta learn to walk before we can run. Literally. We'll just start the basics today." He explained. Once Henry was all kitted out, they brought him over to the steps and taught him how to saddle the horse. Then, finally, showed him how to get on. Henry didn't feel so brave up on the horse.
"It's pretty high up here." He commented quietly. Snow gave him an encouraging smile.
"You'll get used to it. We'll be right beside you today." Snow promised him. Henry nodded, clinging to the reins tightly. David and Snow shared a look. He was going to be fine.
By the end of the hour, Henry was already begging for his grandparents to let him go by himself. They knew he'd catch on quick. It was just nice for them to see him so happy and carefree. Hopefully now the family's troubles were behind them and they could continue to have sweet moments like this with their only grandchild.
