Lucky was sleeping on Chloe's lap while she was stroking her. Lucky wasn't really a loving cat, she usually hid from visitors but she was always relaxed when Chloe was around.

Evan was making a cup of tea for them. Green tea due to the health kick. Chloe's phone buzzed twice in quick succession the first message was from her mother I'm sad you couldn't stay, How's lucky? Mum x

She texted back that Lucky seemed ok and she was sad she couldn't have stayed too. The second message was from her best friend Fiona Chloe, I'm coming home for Alice's graduation, next week, i know that it's short notice I wasn't sure if I was coming but I found cheap flights. I'd love to see you if you can get time off. I can come down to holby if you can't but I know my family would love to see you back home in Scotland. Love you loads girl. Fi xxx

"Who texted you?" Even asked passing Chloe a green tea, which she didn't really like. "Just mum checking up on Lucky, and Fiona, she's coming back next week. I might try and take a few days off to go and visit her in Scotland." She smiled. "But what about your research, and doesn't Jac have some operation you wanted to get in on?" Evan asked

"Yeah I know but I haven't seen Fiona for years and Spain is a long way away."

Chloe and Fiona had been best friends ever since Chloe had moved to Aberdeen when she was 10. They were inseparable until they finished school, when Chloe went to university and Fiona moved to Germany to teach English. She'd moved from Germany to Indonesia then Spain where she seemed pretty settled.

"Not that far Chloe. She could have got cheap flights. You've had the worst and craziest few weeks of your life and she's not even phoned you, she hasn't been there for you." Evan put a movie on and Chloe thought about the past.

Fiona had always been there for Chloe, Chloe remembered the first time Fi had seen her self harm cuts a few days after her mother had told her how she was conceived. They had been getting changed at school after a pre-lunch PE lesson. Chloe was messing around taking forever to get changed, she wanted everyone to go so she could get changed in peace. "Go grab us a spot in the cafeteria Fi, I'll be there in a minute." Chloe said. "Nah, I'll wait for you. We both have lunchboxes today so we can eat in the classroom. What are you hiding Chloe?"

"Nothing." Chloe said and started to change she faced the wall so all the cuts on her thigh were hidden. Fiona was stood waiting for her then before Chloe put her skirt back on she pushed Chloe backwards so she could see the top of her legs. "What the hell Chloe?! What happened to your leg."

"Next doors cat scratched me."

"In perfectly straight lines?" Fiona questioned "Chlo-bow Why didn't you tell me?"Fiona continued calling Chloe her childhood nickname because of the headbands she used to love with bows on them. "I know what those cuts are, what's happened?" Chloe burst into tears and pulled her skirt on. Chloe told Fiona everything, about how she was conceived and how she felt so horrendous about it and she'd cut herself to calm down. Fi hugged Chloe as she cried and cried and talked and cried. A PE teacher came in. "Chloe what's happened, why don't you come to my office." The teacher led them out of the changing room to her office. "You can't tell her." Chloe whispered to Fiona "she'll ring my mum."

"Take a seat" Miss Mullins the kind PE teacher said "what's upset you Chloe?" Chloe stayed silent "Fiona?"

"Chloe's boyfriend, well ex-boyfriend now I guess just dumped her by text." Fiona lied.

"That's rough," the young teacher said "if he can dump you like that then he's not worth it Chloe." The teacher gave Chloe and Fi a pep talk about how being dumped at 15 feels like the end of the world but it really isn't and there were plenty more boys who would be perfect for Chloe.

"How can you lie like that?" Chloe asked Fiona when Miss Mullins had finally let them go. "I am rubbish at lying."

"This is why I take drama while you do art." Fi smiled. "Look Chloe, I won't tell your mum so long as you promise me you'll stop, ring me whenever you feel like you want to hurt yourself. I don't care if it's the middle of the night. I'm here for you, always and forever! OK."

"Chloe, Fiona's not been there for you. She's moved on and you should too. Tell her your busy." Evan said. Maybe he was right Chloe thought. She had texted a lot but not rang let alone Skyped or visited. "You've got me Chloe, I'm here, you don't need Fiona!"
