I parted CJ's hair down the middle and began working on a Dutch braid. After we delivered Ben, Harry had dragged me back to the Jolly Roger. I was currently in CJ's room trying to ignore the shouting that we could hear coming from Harry and James.
I sighed. "Do they always argue like this?"
CJ considered it. "No, sometimes they throw things." We both winced hearing a crash.
Chuckling a bit, I said. "I think they've started throwing things." I finished one braid for CJ and started on the other side. The shouting did not diminish, but luckily we didn't hear anymore crashes. That is until we heard a door slam. Fearing the worse, I quickly tied CJ's hair, and we both stepped out of her room to find the two that had been arguing.
We were greeted with the sight of James and Harry shouting at each other still with a very annoyed Harriet in the corner. When did she get here? Harriet rarely comes to the Jolly Roger anymore.
"If ya weren't such a disappointment, ya'd be a captain. Ya wouldn't take orders from that little sea witch!" James yelled.
Harry gritted his teeth but didn't say anything.
"That's it!" Harriet snapped throwing her jacket and hat off. "I've heard enough, Dad!"
James looked shocked and upset by his daughter's outburst. Harry looked to Harriet in surprise.
"Do tell me Dad did ya start as a captain!? Just because Harry isn't there yet you're gonna yell at him!? For having friends!? For working to get his own boat!? Dad! He's fucking 17! And while I'm at it! Stop being so hard on CJ! She's 15! And she's doing damn well!! In fact, why the fuck do I let them live here with you!? If they need to go somewhere, they've got a place on Valkyrie now!" Harriet glared into her father's eyes daring him to challenge her.
James smirked. "So you're finally going to act like you care about your siblings?"
Harriet pointed towards the door. "Get out."
"It's me ship, Harriet." James Hook said smirking at his oldest child.
"Then we'll go," Harriet said.
James Hook glared shoving his hook into her neck drawing a bit of blood. "You'll do nothing of the sort!"
Harry snapped out of his daze marching over and shoving their father off his older sister.
"Oh, the two of you are finally going to do something?" James snapped laughing cruelly.
I looked to CJ. She was frozen in terror. Her older siblings didn't seem to be winning their struggle with their father. I swallowed my fear whistling for Vitani, who had been lounging in CJ's room.
"They won't have to do anything, Captain." I spat the word Captain like it was poison in my mouth. "Because I will."
James Hook laughed even harder at this. "What are you going to do, Princess?"
I smirked. "Oh Hook... Didn't they tell you to never underestimate your opponent? You think you would've learned." I whistled again. Vitani stalked past me cornering the old man. "Every pirate captain should fear the desert and what she has to offer." Vitani growled leaning closer. "Harry, Cal go get your stuff."
Harriet smiled at me. I returned one not taking my eyes off their father cowering in the corner. CJ rushed off towards her room. Harry gave me an unreadable look before slowly heading towards his room.
Within a few minutes, they both had a bag packed. The four of us headed towards the door Vitani not letting James Hook move until all 3 Hook children were out the door.
"You'll regret this, Ababwa," James Hook growled.
"Oh, sir," I feigned being upset. "I'd have to actually be scared of you for that to have any effect." I stepped out the door and headed upstairs to the deck.
The three Hook children greeted me on the deck. Harriet smiled widely throwing an arm around my shoulder. "That's my desert flower!"
"That was kind of great," CJ added smiling and throwing an arm around my shoulder as well.
Harry looked at me. He was upset, probably from what his dad said. He broke out into a smile. "That was brilliant, Sultan!"
"It's official," CJ said. "You're an honorary Hook now!"
I chuckled nervously. "I- I um..."
"Nope," Harriet said cutting me off. "You're a Hook. It's official! Right, Harry?"
Harry smiled at me. "Yep, you're a Hook."
The four of us walked down the streets causing people to cower away from us. We made our way towards Valkyrie.
"Loser," Uma snaps. "Party of one. Right this way." Uma kicks a chair towards Mal which she catches causing Uma to chuckle.
I see Kamal and my sister slide off to the back not wanting to be spotted by Mal. Léo, Ani, and Mai follow them, but I stay to watch the scene before me.
"Where is he?" Mal snapped.
As Uma spoke I felt a hand grab the back of my vest pulling me out of the Shop.
"What the fuck!?" I snapped before laying eyes on a girl I'd never seen before. She had long blonde hair pulled into double Dutch braids. She wore a long red jacket, black shorts with fishnet tights, and a white blouse.
"You're Quinn, right?" She asked in a Scottish accent.
I crossed my arms. "Who's asking?"
The girl smirked. "CJ Hook at your service."
I looked her up and down. She fit the description that Dia had given me of CJ. She was very pretty. Are all the Hooks hot!?
"Nadia told me to come find you," CJ said smiling. "Come on, Quinn."
I peered at her. "How do I know I can trust you?"
CJ pulled out a hand mirror. I looked down at the compact mirror in my satchel. I opened it to see a reflection of myself from CJ's mirror. Whether the Hook is trustworthy or not she has been in contact with Nadia.
"Fine," I sighed. "Let's go."
CJ smiled leading me through the streets towards a dock.
We boarded a beautiful ship to be greeted by a women in a black coat and red hat. "You must be Quinn," she said with a flourish of her hat and a Scottish lilt too. "I'm Harriet Hook, captain of this fine vessel, and welcome aboard Valkyrie."
I nodded. "Nice to be here. Where's Dia?"
"I'm right here," Nadia's voice came from behind me causing me to jump. Nadia chuckled. "Good to see you, Q."
"Dia!" I ran up to her wrapping her in a hug. "It's so good to see you in person."
"It's nice to finally meet you, Rider." I stiffened. I know that voice. I turned to be met with the blue eyes of Harry Hook. He was even more attractive in person. All of the Hooks are attractive. What have I gotten myself into?
I smiled smoothly crossing the way. "Harry, right? Good uh umm... Cool to meet you." I cringed. Cool? Nice one, Quentin. He's going to think you're a total dork.
Harry smirked.
He probably doesn't even like guys.
Nadia stepped closer to me. "Quinn, just a heads up. The answer to your question..." She bit her lip giving a quick glance to the Hook children. "Is yes."
The answer to my question? Oh. Oh! Oh... I swallowed nervously looking Harry in the eye.
His smirk widened as he stepped closer to me. "You know," he grazed my neck with his hook. "That mirror communication device," he moved his lips to my ear whispering. "Doesn't do you justice."
Did he just... Oh my God this is going to be the death of me.
"Okay," Nadia said rolling her eyes and pulling me away from Harry. Wait! I don't want to be away from him!
"Harry that's enough flirting," CJ snapped.
"Don't do that on my ship," Harriet added looking at her brother annoyed.
Harry rolled his eyes.
"Oh Harriet give him a break," a dark haired person said walking up behind her.
"And you are?" I asked.
"Taylor Smee, they, them because people usually get it wrong." They said sticking out their hand.
I smiled shaking their hand. "Quinn Rider, he, him or-"
"Idiot," Nadia finished for me.
I snickered. "Have I used that one too often?"
Nadia smiled. "Not too often, I'm just your childhood best friend."
"Oh so you two are like Riet and I," Taylor said wrapping their arms around Harriet in a back hug.
"You can ignore my first mate," Harriet said shoving Taylor's face away from her. "I do."
Taylor snickered. Despite her words, they both looked very comfortable with each other. I smiled. It really does remind me of Dia and myself.
"Oh Dia and I will most definitely beat you out for best childhood friends," I smiled widely throwing my arm around Dia's shoulder.
Dia gave me a look. "I didn't know it was a competition."
"Yep, totally a competition," I said smiling.
Nadia rolled her eyes grabbing my hand. "Come on!" She pulled me towards the docks. "We'll be right back."
CJ waved, Taylor nodded, and Harry sent me a smirk.
Harriet smiled. "If he gives you trouble?" We stopped walking and looked back at her. "Cut what's below the belt."
With a slight laugh, Nadia led me off the ship.
I led Quentin through the streets of the Isle towards the little cove we had arranged to meet at.
"You remember the plan, right?" I asked looking to Quinn.
Quinn nodded. "Yeah, I've got your back."
I nodded grimly.
"Hey," Quinn put a hand on my shoulder. "It's going to be okay. We've both dealt with him before."
"Yeah," I sighed stopping and turning to my friend. "But he's always unpredictable. And..." I hesitated looking down. "And I still sometimes consider running away with him."
Quentin lifted my chin up. "Hey, I've seen him, I'd consider it too." Quinn smiled chuckling at his own joke.
I laughed slightly. "That's not what I meant. I just meant I want to run." I gave a weak smile. "From like marriage and responsibility."
Quinn pulled me into a hug. "Hey, it's okay. We're all running from responsibility. And if I was in your shoes., I'd run from marriage too." Quinn looked at me wiping the small tears that had formed. "In your shoes, being in a relationship."
I laughed shoving him away from me. I looked to the small cove and headed towards it to wait for him to show up. Quinn hid behind a rock formation prepared to step in if he had to.
I picked up a rock skipping it across the ocean. "Hello Princess."
I jumped slightly turning around to greet him. "Peter Pan."
"In the flesh, love," he smirked. "How has life on this shit-hole been treating you?"
I smiled. "Well, I've made good friends. I started wearing my hijab again which makes me happy. I'm still worried about getting married before like... 13 months is up. Oh my..." I stopped my list panicking slightly. "I'm going to be 18 in like a year. I'm going to be ruling Agrabah in like a year!"
Peter was watching me carefully. "You know, Nadia, you don't have to stay here. I've offered you this since you were little."
"And I've told you," I said. "I can't leave Kami. And I guess now I can't leave Carlos."
Peter rolled his eyes but didn't say anything more.
"Now back to the task at hand, Peter," I said delighting in the cringe he showed at the use of his first name. "We're a lot alike. And since you're like me, you never travel alone." I smirked calling over his shoulder. "So Felix! Sweetie! Why don't you come out?"
Peter smirked. "Quentin! How 'bout you come out too? Make it a goddamn party."
They both came out of their hiding spots to where Peter and I stood.
"Now, Peter-"
"No one calls me that," he snapped.
I rolled my eyes. "But I'm not just anyone, Peter." He glared but didn't protest. "Now, do you have the dreamshade I asked for?"
Peter smirked grabbing a large bottle from thin air and displaying it before me.
I reached towards the bottle only for him to pull it off my reach. I rolled my eyes. "Peter, give it!"
"And if I don't, love?" He snickered.
"Harriet told me to cut off your balls," I said simply smiling.
Peter chuckled. "Right to the point, eh?"
I smiled. "Always."
"One question," Peter said. "Why do you need so much dreamshade?"
I looked to Quinn. He gave a little nod of approval. "Most of it's for Harriet which I'm sure she'll use it for death and destruction. But Quinn and I want it to make a statement." I looked to Quinn again. "I've also been wondering if Quinn's magic can save someone who has been poisoned by dreamshade."
"Oh my God..." Quinn exclaimed. "I hadn't even considered that! What if it can? We have to find someone expendable to test this out on. Or at least someone that's okay with staying in Neverland if it doesn't."
Felix snorted.
"I've been thinking the same thing! I'm like super curious! I know it brought your dad back to life but like... Dreamshade has very specific rules." I said ignoring the two in front of us.
"Only one way to find out," Peter smirked holding out the bottle of dreamshade.
I rolled my eyes. "Yeah, yeah, I know." I stepped forward hitting Quinn's arm. "Quentin where's those dimensional coordinates?"
Quinn jumped slightly digging through his satchel. He threw an iron frying pan into my hands. He dug further into the bag.
"Why do you carry around a frying pan?" Felix asked.
"Because it's a weapon that doesn't look like a weapon," Quinn pulled a folded slip of paper out of the satchel victoriously. "Besides this way I'm prepared if we need to cook something."
I rolled my eyes. I slammed the pan back into his hands taking the paper.
I turned to Peter smiling. "The boy you're looking for is named Henry. He's the person of the prophecy. He lives in a different dimension. I have to warn you that his family will put up a fight." I held out the paper. "These are the dimensional coordinates you need to find him."
Peter went to take it, but I pulled it out of his reach. Rolling his eyes, Peter held out the bottle of dreamshade. We exchanged.
Peter smirked pressing his tongue against his cheek. "You know, love, you're probably the most intelligent person to have ever made a deal with me."
I smirked leaning closer to him. "Like I said, we're a lot alike. It's like dealing with myself." I tapped his nose. "You're not the first demon I've made deals with, and you won't be the last."
Peter chuckled slightly looking at me with a look I was unable to decipher. "Love, you've got fire-"
"Find your fire somewhere else," I snapped.
He looked me up and down evaluating me. "Dia, you know the offer is still on the table."
I ran up to Peter Pan hugging him. He didn't return it, but I don't care. "I know you're a demon and all, but you're a demon that was there when I had no one else." He slowly returned the hug awkwardly. "So thank you." I stepped away from him looking to his shocked expression. I stepped back to where I had been standing with Quinn.
With a nod, he and Felix turned from us to walk off.
It's now or never. "Wait!" I stepped forward reaching out to them. They stopped Peter looking back to me with a curious eyebrow raise. I could feel Quinn's stare burning into my back. "One question," Peter nodded for me to continue. "From Neverland, in what direction would Mecca be?"
Peter smirked turning around fully to answer me.
A/N: Fun Fact: I don't even watch OUAT I just liked the way they set up Peter Pan as a villain.
