Chapter 52: We need to talk about Kevin

Skylar's POV

It was the fall season of 2012. Sam had decided we were going out on a date tonight. He says to dress up and go to the hair salon and everything. I have my suspicions… Even when it has been over a year since my clairvoyance has been out of whack, a girl has her hopes. So, I did just that, went to the store first to by a new dress, then went to the salon to get my hair and makeup done. When I got home, Sam was out walking the dog giving me time to dress up.

"Skylar!" Sam called.

"Upstairs!" I replied.

Sam came upstairs and smiled. He was wearing a nice suit and everything. "Hey, you look beautiful."

I smiled at him. I was wearing a fit and flair metallic navy-blue dress that has a V-neck. He came over and kissed me. Afterward, we left the house in the Impala going towards an excellent dining steakhouse.

We had the strangest conversation in the car.

"So, if you were in a scary movie or TV what would it be?" I asked.

"What brought this on?" Sam replied.

"Just being random," I said.

Sam chuckled, "I don't know, what do you think I would be?"

I thought about it, "I would say Friday the 13th remake, where your character is trying to find their sibling being held hostage by Jason."

Sam burst out laughing, "I could see that."

"Now, what about me?" I asked.

Sam paused thinking about the scenario, "I'm crossed between you being a vampire tv series who gets kills off the first season, and your spirit helps your other monster friends or a mental hallucination of a girl who tricks her to kill her dad's mistress. Oh, or maybe in the Grudge sequel as you try to help your friends solve the mystery but end up being killed."

I scoffed, "In the end I'm dead."

We both were laughing. I thought about Dean and would imagine him in a remake of My Bloody Valentine. Come on, it's violent, and Dean would play the protagonist who turns out to be the antagonist because of split personality disordered from the past. And knowing Dean…he would try to get down with the ladies.

Our laughter continued until we reached the restaurant. I couldn't help but smile, as the waiter escorted us to a table in the corner away from the busy crowd. It held a classic country vibe to it. We have been to Antebellum once; it was terrific although by far expensive. We looked at the menus ordering some wine and meal.

"This place is…amazing," I said gazing at the historical paintings.

"It's alright, but You're more amazing," Sam said, which caused me to blush.

"Okay, so—why are we here," I asked.

"Well, it's our two - Maybe three-year anniversary since you and I have been dating." He said.

"Has it been that long?" I asked.

Sam nodded, "And through all the madness we had stick together."

We continued to talk about the past and our crazy adventures. When dinner arrived, we settled down enjoying the steaks. Time seemed to go one till all our food was practically gone.

"Ugh, I'm stuck," I said. "I don't think I have room for dessert."

"I doubt it," Sam chuckled, as he reached forward taking my hand. "Skylar, you have been my best friend the moment you aimed your rifle at the Roadhouse."

I chuckled at that memory.

Flashback:

Footsteps walked over to the kitchen and entered. The intruder looked like in his early twenties, tall, lean, and a mess of brown hair. Knowing looks could be deceiving, from the possibility of him of being possessed by a demon, I waited. He wanders about till getting close. The moment he passed me, I stepped behind him aiming the barrel against his head, cocking the latch. Instantly the man froze.

"The sign says close," I murmured.

"I don't mean any harm." The guy said, arms in the air with his hands on his head.

"Sure," I sarcastically said.

"Sam!" the first guy's voice exclaimed. "I need some help in here."

Jo must be handling her intruder fine. I gestured this Sam fellow out of the kitchen. The revolver still aimed at his head. One wrong move and it's officially lights out. At the bar, a bulker guy bent over holding his nose while Jo pointed a rifle at him.

"Sorry, Dean," Sam said. "I can't right now. I um, I'm a little tied up."

End Flashback

"Ever since then, you have been there for me when I was lost. My voice of reason within the darkness. You have stood by my side through thick and thin, from fighting against tricksters to leviathans. And I- "

Suddenly my cell phone rang causing both of us to stop. The ringtone wasn't your typical generic ringtone. No, it was a custom picked song for an individual who hasn't called me in over a year. The song Ramble on by Led Zeppelin echoed over the music of the Restaurant.

Only one person was assigned to that ringtone, "Dean…"

Immediately I tried to grab my phone out of my purse, however the moment I caught it the call was skipped. Quickly I tried to call the number however the single was dropped. A moment later Sam and I got a notification from the security system that we installed in Rufus's Cabin in Whitefish Montana. No should know of the place other than Rufus, Bobby, Dean, Castiel, Sam, and I. Sam informed the security company lying saying it was a family friend and forgotten to give his friend the password. Afterward, Sam ordered the check and paid on the spot.

.o0o.

"Are you sure you don't want me to come?" I asked Sam, as he was packing his bag.

"Yeah, if this isn't Dean I don't want you to get hurt," Sam explained. "I promise, once I know for sure I'll give you call. Maybe it's one of Rufus's friends who used the old cell phone."

"Maybe," I sighed.

There is a possible chance it could be another hunter. Maybe Rufus knew someone and told them about the Cabin long ago. The old hunter did own several cabins, before retiring…then came back out of retirement. Also, we left some of Dean's belongings there from cell phones to clothing. So hopefully Sam going to the Cabin could figure this out. If only my abilities weren't out of whack!

Sam came over and kissed me, "I'm sorry tonight didn't go as planned."

"It's alright," I assured.

"When I get back, I promise to make it up to you."

I nodded.

We shared another kiss before we walked out to the Impala. I went through the list to make sure Sam had his wallet, gun, and tools he needed. As usual, he had everything. With a final kiss, I stood by the driveway watching the black Impala driving down into the darkness where a miracle would be waiting after a year of lost hope may resign.

Dean…We spent months searching for him and Castiel. Had hunter's and researchers keep an open eye out if they ever caught a whiff of the oldest Winchester. All this time, all of a sudden, I can finally sense he was alive. Whatever that was hiding him from my abilities was finally lifted. He was alive.

.o0o.

It was by noon when my computer announced an incoming video chat. Immediately I ran over, almost tripping on Riot before accepting the video chat. In a blink, Sam and Dean were on the couch.

"Oh my God, Dean…you're alive!" I said in shock.

"What…you thought I was dead?" Dean teased, though it sounded forced.

"Sam and I tried looking for you, Castiel, and Kevin for months." I sighed. "You just vanished out of nowhere as if you didn't excite in this world. Where have you been?"

" Well, I guess standing too close to exploding Dick sends your ass straight to Purgatory," Dean answered.

My eyes widen, "You were in purgatory?"

Dean nodded.

"Is Dick…"

"Don't worry. That fucker will remain there, I assure."

I nodded relieved. Even if Dick is dead in our world, at least he shall suffer in purgatory.

"Sam says you two stopped hunting?" Dean noted.

"Well, going out and hunting yes, I still help other hunters in research now and then through the books I inherited from Bobby." I said. "The leviathans messed up my clairvoyance and after Crowley goon stabbed me in the back…some complication. Though, had hunters keep a look out for you and Castiel."

Dean nodded, "And Kevin?"

I looked down sadly, "As we were searching for you we tried searching for Kevin with the hunter community involved. Unfortunately, a hunter name Tara told us she saw Kevin getting killed and possessed. So, what I could be sensing is the vessel being alive.

Dean gave a strange look, "Tara you say?"

"Yeah, Sam says she's a family friend of yours," I answered.

"That she is," Dean assured.

Something was off. You could see the tension on the screen between Sam and Dean. I assumed their happy reunion didn't go to a plan. I would ask what was wrong but decided not to get involve and wait until they settle this out.

"Well, I'm glad you are back Dean," I said.

"Yeah, same here." He said then took a deep breath. "Skylar, I'm sorry what I said last year about what happened to Bobby. It was uncalled for. You're like a sister to me."

I gave him a gentle smile, "And you're like a brother to me. You two take care now, and I hope to see you both home soon."

"We will," Sam assured.

"Home?" Dean asked.

"Yeah, Sam and I own a house in Texas."

"Yippy-Ki-ya," Dean muttered at Sam.

Sam gave a quick goodbye before disconnecting the video message. Something was not right. I just hoped it doesn't lead to a heated argument with one of them dead.

I know it is short

Can you guess what movie/show Sam was preferring Skylar to?
