Tonight was the night. It was finally here, they were going on their first date together. Sara knew Catherine had been nervous in the lead up to it and rightly so, she had never been in a relationship with another woman. She just hoped she had helped to ease Catherine's nerves some. When they had kissed, and almost took things a little too far, Catherine had seemed a very willing participant. She had even admitted she hadn't wanted Sara to stop but Sara knew that was just the heat of the moment. She knew that if things had gone any further Catherine's nerves would have kicked in again, that she would have stopped Sara before they had...well she knew it wouldn't have happened. And as much as she desired Catherine. Wanted to touch her and kiss her. Wanted to hear her breathing rapidly while soft moans left her lips and her hands grasped at her body while she brought such sweet sweat pleasure she had meant what she said. She wanted Catherine's first time to be special, something they both wanted. She wanted to lay her down and take her time showing Catherine how good it could be, how wonderful she could feel while Sara worshipped her body. She had vowed to herself that tonight she would be on her best behaviour. She would show Catherine that she wanted more than just sex from her.
Catherine skipped down the stairs of her modest home and paused to look in the mirror in the hallway.
"Linds, I'm going!" she called through the house. Receiving no reply she made her way to the door of the lounge. "Did you hear me?"
Lindsey shifted on the couch and looked over the back at her mother. "Yeah. You're going."
"Right, well you know the drill. No boys, lock the d..."
"Lock the door, don't answer it for anyone, don't stay up too late. I know mom, I'm not 12 anymore."
"I know you're not, I just worry." Catherine approached her daughter and ran her fingers through the teens long blonde hair.
Lindsey rolled her eyes. "I'm not going to burn the house down mom, just go and have fun."
"Speaking of, there's money on the kitchen counter for takeout."
"But how will I get the food if I'm not allowed to open the door." Lindsey quipped with a smirk.
Catherine lightly smacked her shoulder. "Don't be a smartass." She looked out the window to check if Sara had arrived yet before turning back to her daughter. "How do I look?" She ran her hands self consciously over the black dress.
"You look fine."
"That's it? Fine." Catherine let out a sigh of frustration and went back to the mirror, quickly followed by Lindsey who leant on the doorframe and watched her mother fiddle with her hair.
"I thought you were just going for drinks with Sara? Why the fuss?"
Feeling a slight warmth spread through her chest at the little white lie she had told her daughter, something she had promised she would never do, she continued to move tendrils of hair. "It is but I want to look nice."
Walking over and batting her mothers hands away Lindsey fixed the piece of hair that Catherine was quickly getting frustrated with. "Mom, you look great. Just chill out and have fun, its been ages since you went out."
"I know," Catherine let out a sigh and turned to face her daughter. "I won't be too late."
"Be as late as you want mom. Besides, you might meet someone." She winked and ducked as Catherine swatted at her arm again.
Before Catherine had a chance to respond verbally the doorbell rang, they both turned towards the sound. Catherine's heartbeat picked up rapidly as her earlier nerves started to present themselves again, she stood rooted to the spot just staring at the door. She could feel her hands were getting sweaty with the prospect of what she was about to do.
"Aren't you going to answer it?" Lindsey asked, wondering what on earth had gotten into her mother. "Jeez mom." She rolled her eyes and made her way to the door to answer it herself.
Lindsey's movements snapped Catherine out of her stupor. "Lindsey no!" the older woman shot forward and grabbed at her daughters hand. She didn't want to risk Lindsey opening the door and Sara being there with flowers, that would be a sure fire way to let her daughter know this was more than just drinks with a friend. "I'll get it." She smiled at her confused daughter and kissed her head softly. "I've got my cell, call if you need anything."
With that she turned and made her way to the door.
Opening the door just enough to slip through she stepped outside and pulled it closed behind her, turning she smiled at Sara who looked amused at her exit. "What?" she queried as she slipped her purse under her arm.
"You look like you're sneaking out of your parents house," Sara's mouth quirked up at one side.
Catherine rolled her eyes and started to descend down the few steps leading from the porch to the walkway. "Don't be ridiculous."
Sara jogged to catch up to the retreating form, reaching her side she extended her hand and placed it on the small of Catherine's back, walking side by side to the car. The warmth of Sara's hand seeped through the fabric of the dress to her skin, radiating out from that single point she felt her entire body warming. She just hoped Lindsey wasn't watching out of one of the windows. Reaching the car she opened the door for Catherine, which amused the older woman as she quirked an eyebrow and commented on thinking chivalry was dead making Sara laugh.
Sara climbed into the drivers seat and started the engine, pulling away from the kerb.
"So you're a muscle car kind of gal then?" Catherine asked as she ran her hand over the interior of the car.
"What can I say? I like to hear things scream." her eyes cast sideways to Catherine catching the slight red tint to her cheeks as she realised the double meaning of the statement making Sara smirk yet again. "I have a few indulgences. Engines and music are my weaknesses."
Catherine watched Sara as she spoke, not missing the way she had mentioned screaming and felt that all too familiar burning in her cheeks. Something only Sara managed to achieve. She turned to the window to try and conceal it from Sara but when the other woman continued talking she turned back to her. Sara's face lit up as she spoke about her passions making Catherine marvel at just how pretty Sara was. Sure she had known she was easy on the eyes but right now she was glowing, her whole being seemed to be buzzing which made her beauty truly show.
Shaking her head to bring her back from her wandering thoughts Catherine smiled softly. "And here I thought you were a save the earth eco type."
Sara glanced at Catherine, still sporting a smile, and shrugged her shoulders. "I do my bit but like I say, I have a few indulgences."
Catherine settled back into the leather seat and once again admired the interior of the car, Sara had obviously taken great care of the machine. Everything was perfect, not a speck of dust or dirt in sight. There were some obvious modern modifications, she noticed the stereo had been upgraded from the original and judging by the slight warmth on her backside she had added heated seats. Not that they were needed much in the Vegas heat.
Sara had been driving for a while when Catherine noticed the buildings were thinning out as they headed towards the outskirts of the city. "erm, Sar..."
"Yeah?" Sara glanced at her again.
"Where are we going?" Catherine looked out the windows at the scenery passing by.
"Relax and trust me."
Catherine turned to face the brunette. "Okay but just so you know, my mother warned me about what happens when people take you out into the desert." Sara laughed at Catherine's teasing tone.
"Oh did she? And what exactly is that?"
Licking her lips and shifting her body so it was angled towards Sara her voice took on a teasing tone. "That their intentions aren't pure."
Sara laughed out loud at that and risked another glance to her companion, the darkness casting shadows over Catherine's face. "Maybe you should take your mothers advice."
Feeling those familiar tingles in her stomach, the ones that signified she enjoyed when Sara flirted with her, she replied in a much lower voice. "Maybe I don't want them to be pure." She noticed as Sara's fingers visibly flexed and tightened around the wheel. Smiling to herself that she had finally managed to affect Sara the way she had done to her so many times she settled back into her seat.
"I've got to say Sar, this is a sweet ride."
"Damn right it is," Sara leant forward and patted the dash. "She's my baby."
"She?"
"Yes, she. Didn't you know every car is a girl?" Sara was entirely serious in her statement.
Catherine's musical laughter filled the car, the sound of it delighting Sara. "Can't say I did but I don't really know much about cars."
They chatted back and forth for the remainder of the journey until Sara turned off the road into a dusty carpark in the middle of nowhere. Turning off the engine she climbed out and walked around to meet Catherine as she climbed out. Looking around Catherine again questioned where they were. With a smile Sara rested her arm around her waist, her hand on her hip, and guided her towards the building.
Entering through the wooden doors they were greeted in a small seating area before being led downstairs to a larger room with rows of tables. A bar situated at one end of the room and a stage at the other. Sara kept her arm around Catherine's waist as they were led through the fairly busy room and shown to their table. Once they had taken their seats, with Sara helping Catherine with hers, the waiter handed them both a menu each and left.
"What is this place Sara?" Catherine enquired as she looked around the dimly lit room, soft music played through the sound system.
Offering nothing but a smirk and a wink Sara perused the menu. Choosing their meals they each placed their orders before facing each other again.
"How's Lindsey?" Sara questioned as she took a sip of the drink the waiter placed in front of her.
"She's fine. Doing better in school." Everyone at the lab knew about her troubles with Lindsey growing up.
"That's good." Sara paused a moment and studied the other woman's face. "I take it she doesn't know you're here with me. That's why the quick escape earlier." She wasn't anything other than curious. She had no expectations of Catherine announcing their date to anyone.
Catherine looked down at her own drink and ran her finger around the glass. "She knows I'm with you," looking up she met Sara's brown eyes. "But she doesn't know why." Nodding Sara took another drink. "I want to see what this is before I tell her."
"I get it Catherine, its alright." Sara smiled hoping to alleviate some of her concerns.
"It's not just because its you, a woman, I don't involve Lindsey in any of my romantic relationships. She doesn't need men coming and going from her life."
Sara remained silent letting the other woman talk.
"She knows I go on dates and if I've got a boyfriend but I keep them away from the house. No overnight stays. No meeting the kid until I know its serious, which hasn't been the case in a lot of them." Looking over the table she could see Sara was listening intently, taking it all in. "The last man I had in my house was Eddie, after that I went to their place."
"That must be hard work, keeping it all separate."
"Its easier than you think when most of them are just after a quick jump." Catherine shrugged one shoulder and took a sip of her wine.
Reaching over the table Sara covered Catherine's hand with her own, once Catherine raised her eyes to meet hers she spoke. "Like I said before we'll go at your pace. I don't want to do anything to jeopardise whatever we might have and if that means we keep it shtum then so be it."
Catherine smiled in thanks. "so, how come we didn't know you were a motor head?"
Sara laughed and sat back in her chair. "There's a lot about me you don't know. Seriously though, I keep my personal and work life separate." Catherine quirked a brow at the obvious. "Obviously that went out the window when I got the hots for you."
Forty five minutes later they had both finished their meals and were enjoying their drinks and some light small talk when the water reappeared and attached a metal crate to the end of their table, Catherine watched in utter confusion while Sara continued to grin.
"Are you ready for the best part?" Sara leant across the table smiling before she stood and made her way around to Catherine, she took her hand in her slightly larger one and helped her to her feet.
As they stood there the lights dropped, the beat of the music changed and table were cleared of drinks. The waiters loading them into the metal crates on the end of the tables.
"Okay gals and guys, let the fun commence." A guy whom Catherine assumed must be the DJ called over the sound system and suddenly everyone was climbing onto the tables and dancing to the loud thumping music.
"what the...?" Catherine span around in circles looking at all the people who had only a moment ago been sat at their tables eating a lovely meal and enjoying civilised conversation now dancing on the tables, between the tables and in front of the small stage.
She turned to face Sara with a questioning look on her face only to be met with the classic Sidle grin as Sara gripped her hand and pulled her to join the group gathered near the stage.
Never in a thousand years would Catherine have bet any amount of money on Sara Sidle willingly dancing in front of loads of people but here she was, busting some serious moves without a care in the world. Throwing her head back and laughing Catherine joined in with the dancing, their bodies moving to the upbeat rhythm.
A few songs passed with them dancing together, their bodies moving closely, before Sara signalled she was going to get a drink. Leaving Catherine dancing she made her way back to their table and picked up her beer. Taking a deep swig she watched as Catherine swayed and moved her body to the music. She looked totally in her element, her golden hair was swaying with the movements of her body. The way she moved her body had Sara utterly entranced. She had to laugh moments later as Catherine and a group of other women jumped up onto the stage all dancing together. She was perfectly content to watch Catherine as she danced. Her eyes were sparkling and she had a huge smile on her face as she danced the night away.
After watching for a while Sara made her way back over to the group and signalled Catherine to come closer. She watched Catherine approach the front of the stage and crouch down so she could hear her, the position offering Sara a lovely view of her cleavage.
She rested her hand on Catherine bent knee and placed her lips next to her ear. "I'm going to get a drink, do you want one?"
Pulling back Catherine smiled and nodded mouthing. "I'll come with." And leant forward towards Sara.
Instantly Sara placed her hands on either side of Catherine's waist and lifted her down from the stage, the movement causing their bodies to press together and their eyes to meet at the sensation. She thought she would drown in those sparkling blue pools when she noticed Catherine's lips were moving.
"Sorry, what was that?" she moved so her ear was next to Catherine's mouth as Catherine repeated what she had said.
"I said thank you."
"For what?" Sara frowned.
"For tonight. The dinner, the dancing. Its perfect." As Catherine spoke her breath blew across the skin of Sara's neck causing a shudder to run through her.
Turning to face her again Sara smiled at Catherine and softly brushed her lips against the enticing pink ones before her. She felt Catherine respond instantly, her lips opening slightly to welcome Sara's kiss. However Sara was sure to keep her word and broke the kiss off before it became anything heavy. Taking a step back she let her hands fall from Catherine's waist and instead laced their fingers together. Hand in hand they made their way to the bar, only breaking off when Catherine said she was going to the restroom.
Sara had just ordered their drinks when she felt fingertips trail across the bare skin between her top and jeans, turning her head she was met with Catherine's smile. She smiled back and willed her body to maintain its composure as the realisation that for the first time Catherine had initiated contact hit her, composure that almost slipped as her hand flattened against the skin and Catherine leaned into her side to speak into her ear again. A move that caused her breasts to brush against Sara's bicep.
"I just got asked out."
"What?" Sara turned to face her. "I thought you went to the restroom." Smirking Catherine nodded. "but...who?"
"It doesn't matter, I told them I was here with someone." Catherine's smirk stayed firmly in place, although her fingers had started moving against Sara's skin again.
Catherine seemed extremely happy at the moment and Sara didn't want to ruin that with jealousy so she let the matter drop, choosing instead to ask Catherine to dance again.
Two hours later as they exited the venue laughing and leaning into each other with Sara's arm wrapped around Catherine's waist once again they made their way to the car.
"Oh no. Can you drive?" Catherine recalled Sara drinking earlier.
"I'm fine Cath, it was non-alcoholic beer."
As they drove back towards the city Catherine didn't stop talking about how great the night had been, how much she had enjoyed it. She sat in her chair with her body angled towards Sara's, her eyes were dancing and her hair had started to come out of place. But she looked happy.
Arriving back at Catherine's Sara walked her up to the front door. Catherine fished in her purse for her keys, as she pulled them out she looked up at Sara suddenly nervous again. Her fingers ran over the keys.
"Thank you again for a wonderful night." Her voice was barely audible despite the silent night.
Sara smiled. "It was my pleasure."
Still fiddling with her keys Catherine looked down, feeling shy all of a sudden. "Well...night then."
She made to turn towards the door but was stopped by Sara's hand taking hold of her arm, turning her around and pushing her against one of the posts supporting the porch. Her lips attached themselves to Catherine's. Behaving be damned. Her kiss was bruising in its intensity as her hands moved to grip Catherine's waist, lifting her up off the floor slightly as she pressed her body into the smaller one now pressed roughly against the wooden beam. She felt Catherine moan softly as her tongue swirled around hers, she felt the manicured nails dig into her bicep and she felt the way Catherine arched into her slightly causing her breasts to brush against her own.
With a groan of her own she slowed the kiss to light pecks then rested her forehead against Catherine's.
"Night." Her voice had dropped to a husky whisper.
Her fingers ghosted up Catherine's sides before she moved away, pushed her hands into her pockets and skipped down the steps. Whistling as she made her way back to the car.
Catherine pushed herself off of the post, feeling breathless and incredibly aroused as she watched Sara climb into her car and drive off like she hadn't just had her pinned while she kissed her senseless.
Smiling she ran her fingers over her lips and made her way into her house thinking how tonight had truly been perfect, even the goodnight kiss.
The venue Sara took Catherine too is an actual place close to my hometown. Everything from the eating to the dancing on tables is what happens there.
