Chapter 57: A Little Slice of Kevin

Skylar's POV

I spend a few more weeks in Australia. After spending a few days with Tanika and Sienna, I started to feel better. Or at least spiritually, after spending time in the outback listening to nature. Just having time to clear my mind. All thoughts have been storming inside my head had started to calm down. A storm turning into a sprinkling of rain. I know I am not cured of my trauma, but I'm taking control.

The rest of the week was spent with the kids. Jesse and BJ stealing my time. Along with taking trips with the kids to locations of Australia. Eating a lot of food and exploring what this country/continent has to offer. But I knew I needed to face the real world. Especially when it comes to finding Alfie. I need to find Alfie before I can officially move on.

"I think I can help," Sienna offered.

"With what?" I asked.

"In finding your friend," Sienna said. "All we need is a few pictures of Alfie and a map of the united states."

So that is what we did. I went on Facebook printing some portraits of Alfie. Jesse helped as he teleported, getting a map of the United States and fifty maps, one for each state. Tony took the kids out, not to disrupt the ritual. Sienna took some chalk, drawing some runes on the ground, followed by candles and a crystal.

Jesse and Donnie remained, as Sienna would need a bit of help in tracking a celestial being. Once the ritual was set, I placed Alfie's portrait on the Map of the United States.

"Everyone holds hands," Sienna instructed.

We did so.

Sienna started chanting the spell. I felt numbness, close to pins and needles in my hands and a small headache pulsing at the temple. Based on Donnie and Jesse's expression, they felt it, too, as Sienna borrowed our abilities. She chanted in the languages of Western Witches how to track. The incantation being in a mantra, until the paper map was set ablaze along with the picture as the spell tracked down Alfie. The fire burned, then extinguish, leaving a portion of the map.

Sienna stopped as I went over to see what the state remained. Just as I got closer, the rest of the map burned in flames. Unable to see what state it was. All I got was the central part of the United States.

"Damn it," I cursed.

"I'm sorry," Sienna apologized.

I sighed, facing her, "It's not your fault. Angels are as stubborn as hell."

Sienna nodded.

I took a deep breath, "I better head back."

"Are you sure?" Jesse asked.

"Yeah, I got my job to do and search another way to find Alfie," I said. I turned to Sienna. "Thank you so much for helping me."

Sienna came over and gave me a hug, "You're welcome."

I hugged her back.

The rest of the day was spent packing. Gathering all my things and got ready to head back to Texas. The kids got their final chance to play with Riot when evening came. I gave Bobby John one final bear hug and received a sloppy kiss.

"You be good, stinker," I told him. "And no bursting into goo."

BJ giggled at that and nodded. Although I think he only understands the goo part. Tony came over and collected BJ.

"You're doing a good job, Tony," I assured. "Keep it up."

"Thanks," Tony said. "Hope you find your friend."

I nodded, "I hope so too."

"I'll try to find another spell," Sienna said.

"I appreciate it," I replied. Then whistle for Riot.

The Australian Shepard barked and made his way over to me. I placed the leash on him, then looked at Jesse, "Ready to go?"

Jesse nodded as he took my hand and knelt to place a hand on Riot. Saying goodbye, Jesse teleported us back to Texas. Although we left Australia at five in the afternoon, making it morning around 8:00 in Texas or so.

Jesse stood up with a smile.

"Thanks for the trip," I told him.

"No problem," Jesse said. "You deserve a vacation."

I nodded.

"If you ever need help finding your friend. Let me know, and I can be your chauffeur." He offered.

"I'll take you up on that offer," I promised. "Now, you better get going. It's a school night."

Jesse nodded, giving me a hug before teleporting.

I smiled then looked at Riot. Riot looked up at me, panting slightly as he stood with his tongue out. I walked outside to the porch, sat down on the swing, and stared out onto the property. Riot came over and sat by my feet. Tomorrow I will start my search for Alfie. Doing more research.

.o0o.

In the following weeks, I continued to do my research about tracking angels despite the fact that Naomi promised to bring Alfie back to me once Samandriel is found. I can't take any chances. My trust with angels is limited. With my clairvoyants slightly improving, I know Samandriel is being held hostage. Whoever is holding him hostage is using robust hex bags and warding sigils that are blocking my sight. All I could get was that Samandriel and Alfie are in the central US.

I made a few phone calls to hunters who roam the central region to keep a lookout for a gathering of demons. Something tells me this was demon work. And I am not going to summon Crowley for answers. As the days go by, the phone has been silent on the Winchesters. At first, I thought they were giving me space, especially when I headed to Australia. I left a text for Dean when I was gone if they need to use the house and when I was back. Dean gave a few responses and let me know Sam was still alive.

I sighed, since the autumn season, we did stuff together. It brought back memories of when we went to a haunted house, going to the fairs, pumpkin carving. How we would drink hot cider while watching movies. And spending thanksgiving together. I chuckled since Sam was in charge of the turkey and accidentally burned it. So, we ended up having thanksgiving with roasted chicken breast and a lot of sides.

A picture of us on the porch with Riot was on the wall, and I stared at it. A part of me was still angry at Sam for lying to me and how it put Kevin at risk. While another part of me wanted to forgive him and take him back. Now Sam is back to hunting because I pushed him away. I've started to accept and move on from the trauma of losing loved ones and the harsh encounters. I can't rely on the past to make me stronger. I need to accept, acknowledge, and continue onward with my life. For that is what my family would have wanted.

Sam, Dean, and Bobby became my family when Ellen and Jo died. Bobby, a surrogate father, Dean the older brother figure, and Sam…a possible future. When Bobby died, we struggled. Our moment of weakness allowed the leviathans to take advantage of us and damaged us. Dean stood too close to an exploding Dick, and that left Sam and me alone. I understood where Sam was coming from after Crowley betrayed him and literally stabbed me in the back. He was trying to protect me. How I almost died in his arms. The promise the Winchesters made to one another when one kicks the bucket. The problem was, Sam gave up so early instead of waiting. The moment I checked out of the hospital, Sam disconnected all his phones and stayed by my side.

Abandoning Kevin, assuming the prophet was already dead. Let alone not putting the effort in finding Dean. Yes, Sam would help me in my research. But as I recall, I was doing all the work while he acted as the supportive parents for their kid studying for finals.

I hated Sam, and at the same time, I love him.

Suddenly my phone ding indicating a text. It was a notification from the bank about a strange purchase of a crystal that cost three hundred dollars. Seeing which bank, it was, I realized it was from the card I gave to Kevin. Going to my laptop and pulling out my bank account; usually, the Trans purchases food, gas, and lodging. As well as a few toys, which I assume are water guns.

I also noticed some purchases at a tea shop. Stores that sell organic dry teas and herbal remedies. Including stores in selected Chinatowns.

Kevin gave me a text now and then. Grabbing my phone, I gave him a rang. The phone rang a few times until sent to a company's voicemail answering machine, giving the number. I've sent a text to answer his phone. After a moment, I called again. This time he actually picked up.

"Oh, hey Skylar, sorry for missing your call," Kevin replied.

"Hey, Kevin," I greeted. "How's it goin'?"

"Um, well, things are going well," he replied.

"Really," I said casually. "Mind telling me why I am getting a bank notification for a three-hundred-dollar crystal."

"Mom," he groaned. "I am so sorry. I told her that the card is for the necessities, not for special ingredients."

"Kevin, what are you guys making?" I asked.

"We're making demon bombs. Although the ingredients are hard to find," he answered. "We were at the store yesterday, and it had the crystal. It was a bit pricy. Mom must have used your card by mistake."

"All right," I chuckled softly. "I just want to make sure. Where are you guys at?"

"We're in Salina, Kansas," he answered. "Staying at an abandoned diner."

"Kevin," I sighed.

"Mom didn't want the maids walking in on the ingredients." He explained.

"Could have rented," I reminded.

"If we just keep moving, we will be fine," he assured.

I sighed, rolling my eyes, "Kansas is not far from Texas. How about you send me the address, and I'll stop by to get some of the ingredients I might have. And fresh supplies. You know, I got two extra bedrooms you can rest at."

"Really?" Kevin asked.

"Yeah, five acres of land, building completely warded with hex bags. And also, as an added bonus, I had iron train tracks around the property. You guys need some stability." I explained.

"Why do you have iron train tracks around your property?" he asked.

"Somethin' I learned from Samuel Colt. Long story short, demons can't cross iron." I said.

"Are you sure?" he asked.

"Yeah, I should have offered it to you sooner. I just wasn't thinking straight at the time." I assured.

"I'll talk to mom about it," he said.

Kevin gave me the address as well as the ingredients to make a demon bomb. I told him I'll see him in two days. After hanging up and confirming the purchase with the bank. I went downstairs to see what ingredients I do have. Basically, I have become Bobby. My basement was not lined with salt coated iron, for a panic room. Still, it contains all the inheritance I got from Bobby of the books that have survived and the usual strange ingredients. I had some of them, along with West Bank Witch Hazel. However, an Egyptian calf's skull and the tail of an endangered newt will be a problem.

The following day, I packed the jeep, securing all my weapons and ingredients before calling Riot over. Riot zoomed into the Jeep Wagoneer and took his place in the back seat. I chuckled, locking the doors, before getting into the driver seat. Pulling out the GPS and typing the address in, it will roughly be a twelve-hour drive.

I turn to Riot, "You let me know if you got to go."

Riot gave a bark.

"Good," I told him before starting the Wagoneer and drove off to Kansas.

.o0o.

It would be afternoon when I arrived at the diner in Salina. I saw Mrs. Tran's car in the parking lot. All of a sudden Riot gave a growl, one I never heard him make. When I turned to look at Riot, he was defensive, causing his furs to stick out. That was when my clairvoyants caught on that there were demons on the premise.

I cursed, going into the glove draw and pulled out the Colt. Never thought I had to use this sucker. However, the Winchesters insisted I kept it. Making sure the barrels had bullets, I walked out and made my way into the diner. Once I entered, I found Mrs. Tran shooting a water gun at two demons who were screaming. No doubt holy water inside the plastic toy. Making it easy, I fired the Colt killing one of the demons. As the demon sparked from the inside and dropped dead.

This startled Mrs. Tran as she glanced at me. The other demon, the tall black one, was still screaming. His face trying to recover from the holy water. I was about to shoot the other demon until Mrs. Tran shouted, "No, we need him."

I was confused before Mrs. Tran did a martial arts kick, shoving the demon into a devil's trap on the ceiling.

Mrs. Tran panted before turning to me, "Sorry, they took Kevin."

"Fuck," I muttered, lowering the Colt. "What happened?"

"Oh, I hired a witch name Delta, and she ratted us out to Crowley," Mrs. Tran panted.

I took a deep breath, "Did you ask what type of witches she was?"

She paused, "There are different types of witches?"

I took a deep breath, "Yes, four that I'm aware of. And seeing a demon here, you encountered a borrow witch."

"A borrow witch?" she asked.

"A witch who borrows magic from demons," I answered and faced the demon.

Mrs. Tran nodded and turned to the demon, "What should we do to him."

"Where's Kevin?" I asked.

"As if I'm gonna tell you, bitches." The demon sneered.

I cocked the Colt, "I'll ask again. Where's Kevin?"

"Fuck you," he sneered.

I sighed and turned to Mrs. Tran, "Apologies in advance."

She was confused as I twirl the Colt and pistol smack the demon. This stunned the demon, as I tackled him down on the ground. With the Devil's Trap on the ceiling, he became immobilize, screaming out in pain. I pulled out Bill's Iron knife, ripping the shirt open, and carve the sigil to trap the demon inside the vessel. My clairvoyance confirmed the soul inside was long dead. Afterward, I got off and watch the demon cry in pain.

"What's happening to him?" Mrs. Tran asked.

"A Devil's trap keeps a demon inside the trap. However, when forced out, they become immobilized, feeling their limbs severed. A tip I got from a hunter." I answered.

"And the mark on his chest?" she asked.

"It's a sigil, traps the demon to the vessel," I answered. "The host has since been long dead."

Mrs. Tran nodded.

"Nice work on the water gun," I complimented. "And the kick."

Mrs. Tran nodded with a smile, then she got serious, "We need to find Kevin."

"We will, but we need backup," I told her.

"Are you sure?" Mrs. Tran asked.

I rubbed my lower back feeling some pain, "Yeah, I'm sure. I'm not as good as I once was. Call the Winchesters."

Mrs. Tran nodded as she pulled out her phone and called them. When we get Kevin, I seriously need to teach both him and his mother about the supernatural world. All they know were Angels, demons, and leviathans. So not being aware of the different types of witches caused them this risk. I went outside going into my car, still seeing Riot on the defense. I pull out a treat to calm him before grabbing a pair of handcuffs that have runes to bind a demon.

When I got back, I walked over to the demon and handcuffed him.

"Bitch," he growls.

"I know you are, but what am I?" I countered.

He glared at me.

I continue to stand there, glaring at the demon until Mrs. Tran was done with her call. "Dean told me where to meet."

"Good," I said.

"Before we go, we need to make a bomb first." She added.

I nodded as we went over to the bar to make the demon bomb. Although, I got Riot out of the jeep. He submitted to enter but spent the time keeping a distance while growling at the demon. It was shocking to see an animal showing instincts towards a demon. Then again, if birds avoid the area, then animals fall into instincts as well. Riot is probably staying close because of me.

"He's such a good boy," Mrs. Tran complimented, then sighed. "Kevin always wanted a dog. However, I told him no. The closes he got to playing with a dog is volunteer work at an animal shelter."

"We will get him back," I assured her. "Your son is valuable, and Crowley won't kill him."

Mrs. Tran nodded; she still felt guilty for her mistake. As Mrs. Tran finished making the bomb while I took some paint spray to do a demon trap to her trunk. When we were done, we waited for it to be dark to shove the demon in the trunk of her car. We would have put the demon in my jeep. However, there was a chance someone would spot it and called the cop. With a quick gag, we secured the demon.

"You lead, and I'll follow," I told Mrs. Tran.

Mrs. Tran nodded as she got in her car.

I called for Riot, helping him get into the car before following Mrs. Tran.

.o0o.

We met the Winchesters at an abandoned campsite. This allowed us to be covered, so no civilians can see us. As I pulled over, I've noticed there were three people there. Two I recognized being Sam and Dean. But the third person I saw was none other than Castiel.

The last time I had seen the angel was during the rescue at SucroCorp for a brief moment until Dick exploded. Otherwise, the last time I truly saw the angel was almost two years, helping him fix his problems when becoming a god and the souls of purgatory were destroying his vessel. Let alone the leviathans having control and firing the Colt. Many emotions filled me, for it feels like every bad thing that has happened to me is because of Castiel. I took a deep breath and got out of the car, putting on a mask.

"Well, if it ain't the three stooges," I greeted.

"Surprise to see you," Dean replied back.

Mrs. Tran came out of the car, still worry as she moved to the trunk, "You can do this, can't you? You can get him back?"

"How did Crowley find you?" Dean asked.

"Oh, I hired a witch, and she ratted us out," Mrs. Tran explained casually.

All three males looked at her dumbfounded.

"A witch?" Sam asked in disbelief. "Why'd you hire a witch?"

"To make demon bombs, of course!" she answered, pulling out a black notebook handing it to Sam. "These are Kevin's notes."

"You have any idea where Crowley took him?" Dean asked.

"No. But, uh…" She pulled out her keys and used the clicker to pop the trunk with a proud smile. "This guy might.

The three came closer to see a demon in the trunk.

"She got some skill," I complimented.

Dean, slightly impressed, pulled out a demon blade, "Oh. Let's talk."

The demon stared at Dean, then Mrs. Tran, who crossed her arms with a smile.

Sam, Castiel, and I stepped away to let Dean do his business. I went over to my jeep and let Riot out. The dog barked, hopping out, and immediately ran towards Sam. Sam laughed as he knelt down and began to rub the Australian Shepard, which Riot barked, enjoying the love.

"He misses you," I said with a slight smile.

"I missed him too," Sam said, then glanced at me. "Um…how are you?"

"I'm doing well," I replied.

Sam nodded as he stared at me, "And how did you get involved?"

"A bank notification and calling Kevin about it," I said. "Along with helping to make the demon bombs. Although I was not aware of the witch until after I arrived."

Sam only nodded again until Riot was satisfied from the rub before walking over to a tree to relieve himself. There was still tension between Sam and me. I was still mad at him for what he did, and it will take some time before I can forgive him.

I then turned to Castiel, "Hey, Columbo."

"I don't know who that is," Castiel replied.

I chuckled slightly, "You've never changed."

Castiel paused as he stared at me. I can see it in his angelic blue eyes the guilt. He opened his mouth to speak; however, Riot came over and started sniffing the angel. Castiel paused, not sure what to do with the dog.

"You pet him," I instructed. "Hold your hand out and let him sniff."

Castiel did as instructed. Riot paused, sniffing the hand to see if the angel is a threat or not. Smelling nothing that seemed hostile, the dog sat down and wag his tail. Castiel hesitantly petted Riot's head.

"Such a handsome canine," Castiel noted.

"Indeed," I agreed.

All of a sudden, I felt an intense pain in my left pinky. As if someone had cut it off. I screamed, grabbing my hand, feeling the knuckle pulse and burn while the rest of my pinky felt numb, unable to feel it. Sam rushed to my side, his hand on my shoulder as he took my left hand to check. We looked at it, seeing my knuckle was red while the pinky finger was utterly white as if there was no blood on it.

Mrs. Tran and Dean came over.

"What happens?" Dean asked.

"My clairvoyance happened," I ground out, taking deep breaths to alleviate the pain. "As if someone cut my pinky off."

Castiel came over and took my hand. His hand glowed as all the pain vanished, going back to its original state. I took a few more deep breaths and looked at the angel.

"Thanks," I said.

"You're welcome," Castiel replied.

"Damn, I hate that," I growled.

"What just happen?" Mrs. Tran asked concern.

"Skylar is clairvoyant. More specifically, she has claircognizance," Sam explained. "She has the ability to know things."

"However, when she is connected to someone personal, she experiences the trauma they are going through," Dean added.

"And it is not fun," I grumbled, then took a deep breath allowing my ability to inform me who it was. "We need to hurry. Kevin needs us."

"Is he being tortured?" Mrs. Tran panicked.

"More like a warning," I said softly.

Everyone nodded.

"Has the demon say anything?" I asked.

"Atlantic, Iowa," Dean answered.

"Let's go," I said.

Before we went, Sam informed us that Crowley had kidnapped the current prophets. I was confused until Castiel explains, if a prophet were to die, there are those out there ready to be selected. However, they don't have the gift from god yet. Taking that information in, we secured our things. Sam offered to drive Mrs. Tran's car, while Dean and Castiel took the Impala. I got Riot, and both of us were in the Wagoneer. We drove nonstop through Nebraska and Iowa, as Dean leads the way. By morning we were at an abandoned factory.

Riot gave a growl then whimper.

I petted his neck, "You sense them, can ya?"

Riot whimpered again.

"Stay," I told him as I got out of the jeep as grabbing a bag with hunting gear.

As I got out, Sam had handcuffed Mrs. Tran to the driver seat. As much as we respect the tiger mom. Going inside a factory filled with demons isn't safe. I came over to the boys as Dean held the Demon knife. The demon glanced around from the trunk and nodded.

"Yes," he confirmed.

Dean pulled out Ruby's Knife and stabbed the demon in the chest. The demon cried out as his body sparked from the inside. He yanked the dagger out and then closed the trunk.

"Oh, come on!" Mrs. Tran yelled as Sam joined us.

"What's the plan?" I asked.

"We go in and get Kevin," Dean explained.

I sighed, "still haven't changed knucklehead."

"Sam, you and Skylar find the prophets," Dean said. "Castiel and I will find Kevin."

We all nodded.

I pulled out the Colt, making sure the barrel is full of killing bullets and nodded. Dean, Sam, Castiel, and I headed inside. Dean taking the lead as he held Ruby's knife. We enter the facilities, listening carefully. However, Dean pulled us to the side as a demon with a ponytail came by. Quietly Dean snuck up and stabbed the demon in the back.

"All right," Sam said. "Skylar and I'll check that way."

Dean nodded, gesturing Castiel to follow.

Not arguing, I followed Sam as we made our way inside. We descended down some steps though stop seeing a gathering of demons. Sam gestured me to follow as he pulled out the demon bomb. I kept a firm hold on the Colt in case Plan A doesn't work out.

When we reached the ground level, the demons stared at us, amused as all their eyes turned black.

"Winchester. Harvelle," one demon said.

"Looks like you guys got us," Sam greeted hesitantly.

They started approaching us, as Sam pulled out the bomb and smashed it on the floor. As Sam covered me, there was a bright light, turning us around to not stare into the light. There was a hot gust of wind, followed by the screams of the demons. When the light diminished, along the wall, were five shadow silhouettes of the demons.

"Wow, that had a kick," I commented.

"Yeah," Sam agreed.

We continued searching until finding a table covered in blood.

"Oh, no," Sam mumbled, covering his mouth.

I moved around until seeing several people huddle behind the table covered in blood.

"Hey," I murmured. "We're here to help you."

"You're not aliens…are you?" An older man in a bus driver's uniform asked.

"No," I assured.

The people nodded as we helped them up. Sam collected the boy name Aaron off the ground. We carefully got everyone outside the factory and back to the cars. Opening the passenger side of the jeep, Sam put Aaron down. I examined the preschooler, making sure the blood is not his. One of the hostages said the demon with the English accent exploded a woman to threaten an Asian kid.

I sighed in relief before going to the back seat, pulling out water bottles for them. They kindly accepted, using it to wash the blood off their faces. As we waited, there was a shot of lightning that struck the building. Something happened. Sam thinking quickly, escorted the hostages away from the sight and will probably call the police.

Several minutes later, Dean and Castiel came out with Kevin. Immediately, I removed the cuffs from Mrs. Tran as she got out and embraced her son. From what I can see, Kevin was traumatized. Probably after seeing an innocent woman being exploded. I pulled out a first aid kit and let Mrs. Tran treat her son. Although Kevin seemed numbed as he held a partial of the Demon Tablet.

I stood by, giving them some space while keeping a lookout for any more demons.

"Cops are on their way," Sam said as he came back. "They're gonna pick up the prophets. Um, they'll all be heading home."

"What about us?" Mrs. Tran asked.

"You'll be staying with me in Texas," I answered. "My place is warded and has an Iron fence."

"I called a friend of ours, Garth," Sam added. "He does what we do. Well…in his own way. He'll keep an eye on you guys. No more going off on your own."

Mrs. Tran rolled her eyes, then hugged her son.

Sam became serious, "You get that it was hiring that witch that got you into all this, right?"

Mrs. Tran nodded before going back to cleaning her son.

"How you holding up, Kev?" Sam asked.

"You kidding? I want to seal those bastards up forever." Kevin replied, lifting his wrapped hand. "Took my finger."

"Cass thinks he might be able to fix that," Sam said. "In the meantime, just lay low till we get back to you, okay?"

Kevin nodded.

"Skylar, can I have a word?" Sam asked.

I nodded as we made our way to the jeep, where Riot was still asleep.

"How are you doing?" Sam asked.

"I'm fine," I answered. "Just tired of all this demon bullshit."

Sam nodded in agreement, "I got the word you are looking for someone?"

"You remember Alfie?" I asked.

"The guy who used to work at Weiner-hut?" Sam asked.

I nodded, "The angel Samandriel used his body as a vessel. He thought using him can earn my trust. Back at the auction, he promised to let Alfie go. However, he didn't. I try praying for him, but no response. Only another angel saying Samandriel has gone missing. When I was in Australia, Sienna tried doing a locator spell, but it didn't work. And my clairvoyance only tells me both are still alive and being tortured."

"Skylar," Sam sighed. "I'm sorry."

"Alfie should not be a part of this. Hell, Cheryl is worried sick," I said.

"Well, Dean and Cass didn't see anyone else in there," he said.

I sighed with disappointment.

"Dean and I will keep a lookout," he assured.

"Thanks, Sam," I said with a small smile.

He nodded, opening his mouth to say something but stopped. There was a wall between us now. A wall he created from lying to me and giving up on finding Kevin and Dean. It will take some time before we rekindle. I've been hurt before when Sam chose Ruby over me. I gave him a second chance. Now what he did over a year ago, although he held good intentions, happened too soon.

Sam took a deep breath and patted my shoulder.

"I'm still mad," I murmured.

"I know," he sighed.

"I need time," I added. "Just give me some time to think about it."

Sam nodded. He leaned down and pecked me on the forehead. I breathed, for it brought back memories of when we were younger. With nothing else to say, Sam walked away to join Dean and Castiel. While I stood by debating what our future would be.

Funny story. I thought I posted this chapter before the Holidays and discover I didn't. Oops. Hope everyone enjoys it.
