Hey- Normal talking
Hey- Kazuto's inner monologue
'Hey'- People thinking
(Hey)- Inner circles mean places or time skips
~Flashback~
[Disclaimer: I don't own MHA or Sword Art Online]
The revving of a motorcycle was heard as an all black-clothed figure whooped in excitement. Increasing the speed on his Yamaha YZF-R1 M, the figure let the wind caress his raven locks. With a smirk, he spun around in a flourish as children looked on with glee. One lucky child was able to receive a high five by the dark clothed figure as he looked at his two sisters with a huge grin.
"When I grow up, I'll buy a motorcycle!" was what the person was able to hear as he increased the speed.
'Man...' Kazuto thought with a grin. "This feels great!'
He and Kai had been able to locate UA Highschool with the help of Present Mic. The guy at least had the decency to pick up his calls, unlike some cat-loving loner he knew. To say they had freaked out when they met the principal would be an understatement. Seriously! The principal, the greatest mastermind behind the founding of a hero school, had been a chimera! Was he a mouse? A bear? A dog? No one knew. It sent shivers down his spine every time he saw his maddening gleam when they made eye contact.
Not all was bad in these three weeks thought. Kai had been given a spare room in their small building which, he might add, was as big as his home back...well home. Who wouldn't be able to see a three-story styled Japanese home and not be awed by it? As soon as they had unpacked, Kazuto went to call his friends and family and assured them that he and Kai had made it safely. It's not like they can't defend themselves. Quirks really were a convenience.
All that aside, he had been giddy to see a black colored Yamaha motorcycle in the garage of their mansion. Apparently, the missions to capture Gin Haru carried a huge bounty. Who knew? Kai, being the ever-caring friend he was, hogged most of the money though. The douche...
Anyway, he and the bluenette had caught glimpses of their greenette acquaintance working out in the beach with the skeletal blond from time to time. It wasn't easy to build all that muscle mass in the weeks preparing for the exams, that's for sure. They had to commend his will power for that. Within those three weeks, Kai's curiosity had been peaked to the point that he asked the teen who the blond was. He wasn't subtle either! As soon as their backs were turned, the bluenette shouted to the green-eyed teen. This, in turn, caused the ravenette to sigh and go join his friend. Izuku ended up being all flustered and quickly denied that the man was All Might. The funny thing is that they never asked if he was All Might or not. This only made the teen apologize frantically to the fidgeting blond.
"I was just curious about your power." the bluenette stated matter of factly. "I saw your punch part the clouds and cause the weather to change. I just want to see where I stack up."
Widening his stance, the teen went to attack the man. Just as 'All Might' was about to tell him to stop, he ended up spewing blood just as Kai's fist was mere inches from his face. It was kind of funny seeing the once composed bluenette panic at the thought that he had killed this "All Might".
"I'm fine kid." the man had reassured him as he covered his mouth. "It just happens from time to time."
I know what you're thinking. What type of number one hero would just give their name so freely to a couple of teens? Weren't secret identities a major part of the Hero Society? Well, when your apprentice is friends with his two saviors, logic would dictate that they could be essential in helping Izuku understand the fundamentals of physical fitness and quirk usage. Never had the young Midoriya been so giddy about recording mutations of new quirks. He was practically bouncing in his seat...er shoes?
So yeah. Kai and himself had ended up meeting the teen for the first week of physical training in order to help All Might generate a balanced schedule for the green-haired teen. Other than that, they hadn't been able to see him as often.
And so, here Kazuto was, in his speedy escapade, relieving his boredom. Shouta had been too busy doing,...whatever he was doing, to properly train him. Kai had been watching Suguha and Eugeo's favorite show up to the point in which both the rouge Uchiha and the emotional Uzumaki fought for their righteous beliefs. Interestingly enough, the bluenette had paid more attention to the lightning jutsus that both the Uchiha and the Raikage had used, if his smirk was anything to go by.
Hizashi on the other hand...
"I can't do this Rose! Not anymore..." the man whispered softly as the woman looked on with a glare.
"All I've done had been for us! We should have been the ones leading! We should have been the ones watching our child grow up without any grievances!" the woman shouted with ferocity as the man looked at her solemnly.
Hizashi started eating his popcorn at a fast rate as his eyes were glued to the TV.
"Come on Eduardo..." Hizashi muttered pleadingly. "Don't fall for her trap! She's the bad guy!"
"Is that your final answer then?" Eduardo asked his once-wife with a whisper.
"And what if it is?" the woman asked with a nigh-invincible air around her.
"Then you're too presumptuous to assume that I had ever loved my child." the man smirked as Rose and Hizashi looked at him with a startled gasp.
"You don't mean..." she recoiled as she heard the sound of a gun loading, aiming towards her figure.
"This is goodbye my love." the man smiled serenely. "At least, you'll be able to join that accursed child in the afterlife. Amid all this madness, I decree your love to be my last sanctuary as I give you my own feelings in the form of a bullet. This bullet to the heart that is."
With that, three resounding shots were heard as Hizashi dropped his popcorn in shock.
"No way..." Hizashi muttered. "All along, it was you, Eduardo? Why?"
"I may be seen as an evil menace, but I will still be the fallen angel that had freed you. Remember that all I had done, the blood I had spilled, had been for your safety," Eduardo muttered at the two tombstones he had carved out by his own home. "This is...goodbye."
"My heart!" Hizashi exclaimed as he started crying loudly.
"Oi! Shut up down there! I'm trying to sleep!"
...yeah, he wouldn't want to go there.
"How about we go and have some fun?" was what he heard as he parked by a gas station near the city.
"I'm sorry, but I'm not interested in dating." the orange-haired teen bowed as she tried to walk away.
"Oh? And why's that?" another voice asked as he took a menacing step forward. The teen didn't look so impressed. In fact, she may have seemed...bored? Huh, you don't see that every day.
"Well, unlike you, I seem to have a future ahead of me." she smiled cheerfully as the middle school thugs looked appalled.
"Oi! What's that supposed to mean!?" the first voice he had heard shouted in indignation.
Having enough of this squabbling, Kazuto sighed and walked forward.
"It means she doesn't want you. Now scram" he exclaimed with a shooing motion as the girl looked at him with a raised brow.
"I have this under control you know?" she glared lightly as the ravenette only looked amused.
"I know. I'm just passing by and decided to see what happens." he shrugs as the girl's glare lessened slightly.
"Whatever" she huffed as the 'thugs' gritted their teeth at being ignored.
The leader showed his annoyance by starting to light up.
"Woah! It's a human night light!" Kazuto exclaimed as the leader in question stumbled back in shock. "Where have you been all my life!? I seriously needed that as a kid!"
The orange-haired girl's giggling only made him get angrier.
"I'm not a night light you idiot! My quirk will be able to blind you if completely charged!"
"You're right." the orange-haired teen snickered. "He is a night light."
"I'm not a night light, damn it!" he ran forward with his fist wound back as he went to attack the ravenette.
"Oh?" he muttered calmly as he made eye contact with the 'leader'. "Using a quirk to try to harm others? I've heard that it's a no-no in this place. I think it'd be wise for you to calm down, wouldn't you think?" he asked with a charming smile as a murder of crows started to surround the attacker.
"W-what is this!?" he shouted in alarm as he tried to smack the crows away but to no avail.
His other goons only looked on in confusion as their boss started waving his arms around like an idiot. Honestly, there was nothing there! Only when they made eye contact with the teen did they find out why. With a startled yelp, the goons ran away from the crows not caring if they left their leader to fend for himself.
"Huh" the girl muttered. "What did you do?"
"Me? Nothing," the teen beside her shrugged carelessly as he walked back to his motorcycle. "it's just all in his head." he finished with a smirk.
"Mhm." she looked at him in suspicion for a second before shrugging. "By the way. what's your name?"
"Wouldn't it be common courtesy to give your name before asking for someone else's" the teen teased her with a knowing smirk.
This only made her huff with a pout. "Itsuka Kendo. And you?"
"The name's Kazuto, Kazuto Kirigaya. See ya around." he waved as he started revving the engine once more.
"Sure." Kendo waved back lamely as she started walking away.
'What a weird day...' they both thought with a sigh. Neither had noticed that the 'thug' was still waving his arms around as the illusions of the crows kept pecking him. A weird day indeed...
(With Kai)
"Come on..." he muttered with a frown as he looked at his right arm. He had been concentrating on his lightning manipulation for the whole day and had yet to see the results he wanted.
"I've gotten one of the attacks down. Why can't this one be the same!?" he sighed in annoyance as small sparks gather at the palm of his hand.
As he let the small current of lightning dissipate, he got in a lotus position and let his mind be at rest. His quirk had come so naturally to him. It had, however, come with a price. The same as that day.
'The day where everything went to shit.' he thought bitterly as he exhaled.
~Flashback~
{Queue Song: "Someone you loved" - Lewis Capaldi (Connor Maynard version)}
Fire littered the streets as men and women, young and old, started to run away. Yellow eyes, as dulled as their owner, walked aimlessly. Lost within the flaming sea of carcasses and gore that would leave many scarred.
'W-where's Tamaki?' was the child's only thought as he went to look for his guardian.
Just then, he hid behind a wall as a flood of soldiers marched towards the capital with wicked grins that promised pain. In between their units, there stood their commander that was covered head to toe with a white armor that had blood dripping like droplets of rain.
"For power!" one of the soldiers shouted as he killed a fearful guard.
"For unity!" another shouted as he torched nearby houses.
"For a new standing in the clan!" the leader shouted with passion as he cut down the guards left and right without remorse.
"What's the meaning of this!?" the past Ryuuji clan head demanded with a scowl as he walked in front of the courtyard. His white robes would have looked regal and composed if not for the sadness hidden within his form as he looked at the events stiffly.
"We've had enough of your oppression! We, who had been used as cattle in your past wars, demand your repentance!"
"What nonsense!" the man shouted in disgust and sadness. "I would never do such things to my people! Who had dared to spread such lies!?"
"Lies? I believe not. It is nothing but the truth." the leader walked forward without any fear for his life. "We've had enough of your reign, my lord. I thought it was time for a change."
"Z-zeoticus...you would dare raise your sword against your own kin!?" the man whispered in rage as he saw the white knight take off his helmet.
"Indeed," the man smirked as he told one of his soldiers to move forward with their prisoner. "And I wouldn't be scared to kill one if you don't resign your position to me."
"Such madness! What makes you think I'd do such a thing!? This land had only prospered under my reign! Unity, power, your own lies had consumed you entirely! Look at the carnage you had all left behind! The death that had befallen our people!" the man shouted with a broken voice that had some of the weaker-willed soldiers falter in their steps.
"You call it lies, I call them truths within consternation." the man smirked as the clan head looked baffled at what laid in front of him.
"F-father..." their prisoner smiled weakly.
"T-tamaki" he whispered. "What have you done to your cousin, Zeoticus?" he asked in hushed whispers of a broken man.
"He is but a small sacrifice for our salvation! You should rejoice, for he would be the key to peace!" Zeoticus shouted as the men behind him cheered.
"Y-you can't call it peace if you only want power" Tamaki smirked weakly until a foot landed on his broken ribs.
"Do not speak, cousin. This is our last step for our coup d'état to bring fruition!"
"Tamaki?" the yellow-eyed child mumbled in shock behind the wall. 'Why is he here!?'
"T-this isn't peace...this is a dictatorship." Tamaki continued on as he ignored the pain and spat blood at the man's boots in an act of defiance.
"if you want peace prepare for war" Zeoticus stated blandly as he looked at the fallen man. "Isn't that what we were taught? It matters little how much blood we had spilled if the results stayed the same. Whether the glory and gratification come with such acts could also be debated."
"Stop this at once!" the clan head's shout was more of a plea. "Leave my son alone! I'll give you the position! Just please, leave him alone!"
"It seems blood runs thicker than water..." Zeoticus smirked viciously as he ignored the cheers of his soldiers behind him. His keen eyes glancing at a mop of blue hidden by a wall.
"Y-you wouldn't understand why." Tamaki smiled slightly in a wince. "What leads us to tears would only lead us to grace along the line. O-our pain is never wasted."
"Now why is that?" Zeoticus looked amused as he twisted his foot in the man's ribs, further cracking bones. Seeing the clan head submit had only been a bonus.
"B-because no matter how you want to disguise it...evil will always be evil. B-be it lesser, greater, or a soliloquy of good intentions, it makes no difference. The degree is arbitrary. A-a world without conflict is a utopia that will be out of your reach, no matter how hard you try to grasp it..." he smiled weakly as a mop of blue blurred between his vision.
"That's just it." Zeoticus laughed cruelly as his soldiers backed off. "This world doesn't need a visionary philosopher. Oh no! It needs stability!"
"A-and you think you'd be that which will keep it together?" Tamaki questioned in small gasps.
"Of course! For I hold your heart within my grasp!" he smiled as a blue blur tried to pry him off.
"Get off him!" the child shouted fiercely.
"I-it's okay Kai. Everything will be fine." Tamaki smiled as the yellow eyes he had been so fond of shed tears of sorrow.
"But why!?" the child shouted. "Why does it have to be you!? I don't want you to die! I don't!"
"Because child..." Zeoticus smirked. "He who shall rule deserves the crown. As the oldest, it should have been me!"
"Still mad about that huh?" Tamaki tried to joke as he heard the child being restraint by Zeoticus' loyalists.
"It matters little now that you're at my mercy." Zeoticus scowled as he pointed his sword at his kin. "Any last words?"
"It's better for me to die on my feet than to live on my knees, Zeoticus." Tamaki grinned cheekily one last time. "But, if I were to ask for one request, would you do it?" he asked weakly as the man pondered his question.
"I see why not." Zeoticus muttered as he looked at his cousin's brown eyes with amusement.
"Let Kai live. Let him experience what little of life you can offer during your reign. That is my only request." Tamaki pleaded.
"Very well then, consider it done." the new would-be leader nodded as he got his sword ready to pierce his heart.
"T-thank you, Zeoticus."
With that, the elder clan head shouted in rage as the sword touched his son's heart and ripped it asunder. Yellow eyes only constricted at seeing the only person he considered a father die in front of him. He tried to free himself from the loyalist's grasp but to no avail. He could only look on as the man responsible walked up to him and rubbed his father's blood into his two cheeks. As he rubbed his hands, the man had been satisfied in seeing him with two triangular tribal marks.
"As for you, child. Even though I can be all-forgiving, I feel that you deserve a punishment for trying to save that oh so noble cousin of mine. Can you believe that he had been the first person to try and defend the old king up to his very last breath? Preposterous! His punishment deserved anything less than subservience. However, I think his spawn should just be discarded" Zeoticus looked at the motionless child with a cruel smirk.
"As of right now I, the new head of the Ryuuji clan, hereby discard your last name and give you the status of a Ryuuji clan member." his smirk widened even more as he saw the pleading look on the child's face. "Not just as any Ryuuji, oh no! I hereby give you the status as my heir. Isn't that right, my son?"
Kai could only grit his teeth in frustration to try and keep his tears at bay. What a cruel world it was.
~Flashback End~
Throughout his younger years, he had been nothing but Zeoticus' obedient lapdog. Whenever the man wanted him to be good at something, he had to master it. When the man heard of kendo tournaments that gave out a huge sum of money, the man had been sold. Kai had been a rebellious child that tried anything in his power to lash out at the man. He couldn't do it politically as he had no affiliation, but he had become distant to his 'father' to the point of driving the clan head mad.
"You will do as I say!" was what he'd always tell him. How long did it take the man to notice that all his words had fallen on deaf ears? Only when he had found a wife and had kids of his own did he finally take notice of what he had done. The man wanting to uphold his variation of 'peace' had wanted to repent. A little too late for that.
Moving forward, on the day of the first tournament, Kai chose to discard the Ryuuji name and went by Asmotheos as a memento to his late father figure. Tamaki Asmotheos had been a kind and gentle soul. Many in the main family resented the man who took him away. It just hurt Kai to see that children his own age walked away from him as soon as he got close just like they had done when he was still a kid with no family to hold him. They didn't want to be with 'the tyrant's son' even though he was never guilty. As far as the newer generation was concerned, he was not the son of Tamaki Asmotheos, but the son of Zeoticus Ryuuji.
It was only thanks to a certain raven-haired child that was just as broken as him that he held onto a smile. He would never tell him about it, but Kai had been thankful. They were both lost in misery so deep that the only way to walk forward was to lash out. He was finally free. "Forgiveness only liberates the victim. It's a gift you give yourself." He had followed those words and let it all leave his mind. His frustrations, his anger, and his vengeance. However, never did his hatred waver. He still hated the man that had caused him such grief. So had the elders to a lesser extent as they sang praises of his late father even though they used to be the warmongers that wanted a new 'utopia'. Righteous bastards was all that they were.
Kazuto Kirigaya had been the victor in their match. The ravenette, no matter how shackled he still was, had let his grief dissipate and allow a smile to mar his face. In that single moment, they had connected. He would never tell him, but he had saved him from himself and he was thankful for it.
Walking away with a new sense of purpose, he had bumped into a man with unruly pitch black hair with strands sticking out like wolf ears. Finishing his look was a scar on his left eye that gave an exotic vibe to his red eyes.
"Who are you?" he asked coldly as he tried to leave.
Not being deterred by his voice, the man only smirked.
"The name's Izaya kid. I saw the match and I was quite impressed by it. Especially when you enhanced your speed at an abnormal rate." he finished with his smirk still in place as he ignored the kid's stiffening at his hint.
Looking back, it was foolish for him to use his quirk in plain sight no matter how minuscule it had been. Lightning had been a fascinating function that he had discovered when he was forced to learn kendo. Through his meditation, he discovered the usage of blue fire. He had kept it a secret from his father and the leaders in order to live a normal life. This man saw right through him. Was it shock that led him to follow the man to this profession? Or was it his foolish notion of wanting to save others? Even so, at the end of the day, he had chosen to follow, with his two feet, the light with only one thought.
"I don't want anyone to suffer like I once did" he stated clearly as Izaya, now Ares, trained him personally to control his quirk.
The next two years had been a blur. Now at fourteen years of age, he had participated in the tourney once more for a single purpose: to test himself and take back what he had lost long before. Funny how life worked. He had met his rival in the same tournament. The only difference was that he had an aura of an assassin and yet that of a hero. It baffled him. How can one choose a path in the dark to try and give way for the light? When they had made eye contact, he found out the reason. The people in the tournament were precious to him the same way Tamaki had been to him. His once broken morale had grown to that of determination. Kai had to give him credit for his tenacity.
Meeting little miss Yuuki Konno had just been a bonus. A cute bonus he might add.
In their fight, he had been awed by her movement. So fluid and yet quick, it gave her the grace of an empress. Her exotic purple hair and ruby-red eyes had only cemented that fact. The match that followed only made him gleeful. Not only was Kazuto stronger, but so was that friend of his. Somewhere along the lines, they were no longer there. There was only a snake, a crow, and a dragon fighting for dominance. The crow had been the victor once more. Even so, they each saw glimpses of their sorrow, their sadness, and their hopes for the future.
Now, with his hands in his lap and his body staying steady through the ins and outs of his breath, Kai Asmotheos pondered on the time he walked out of the Ryuuji clan for good. No longer was he a puppet, but a soon to be hero. He really couldn't thank his raven-haired friend enough. Maybe, just maybe, he'll give him ten percent of their earnings with their capture of Gin Haru. That is if his friend in question stops getting into trouble either intentionally or not.
Feeling a sigh escape his lips, he felt his sixth sense kick in and he knew for sure that the idiot had indeed been in another troublesome situation. And Midori wanted him to help her son stay out of trouble? He could try, but there will be no guarantees.
He got up and grabbed ahold of the tanto given to him by Ares. Like his namesake, he twirled it around in a flurry of motion and, like an ocean, stabbed the tanto onto the floor as he saw the lightning currents touch the wooden floor.
"Nagashi" he muttered with his eyes closed as the lightning discharge flew from his entire body and towards the point of impact where his sword stabbed the ground.
Letting a smile grace his lips, he sat down with a tired sigh. By no means was he a weeb like Eugeo and Suguha, but the ideas he had used from the show were pretty awesome. It was just a pain for him to analyze the lightning aspect and its function for him to truly understand how to recreate it. A traitor he might be, but when it came to jutsu creation, Uchiha Sasuke was truly a genius. If only his friend was like that though...stupid Kazuto.
Said person sneezed as he parked his motorcycle in the garage. Turning off the engine, he walked into the house to see his blue-haired friend sprawled on the ground reading a book. Except...the book had a picture of a woman in a...swimsuit? The hell was Icha-Icha Paradise anyway?
Shrugging carelessly, the teen went to put on an apron as he started to cook dinner. If he didn't the yellow-eyed teen would likely burn down the water again. How he managed to do that Kazuto never knew...
"Hey Kai?"
"Hm?" the teen answered lamely as he kept on reading.
"Why is there a hole in the gym floor?"
"Fuck..." the bluenette muttered as the book he was reading fell on his face.
Not even a month in their new home and there was a hole in the wall. What a weird day indeed...
