We have finally reached the end of the line! This is from Angel season 4 episode 13, titled Salvage. This whole story has been about Faith in prison, so it felt right to finish it off with her leaving.
Faith was told her lawyer was there, which was surprising. Angel hadn't visited since last spring, and with what was going on in LA, she figured he wouldn't stop by anytime soon. She wasn't exactly in the mood for any special guests after her attack earlier in the day. Her surprise continued as she saw Wesley sitting on the other side of the glass.
This couldn't be good.
Faith sat in the chair opposite Wesley. "They told me my lawyer was here to see me. You my lawyer now, Wes?" She couldn't help be a little sarcastic toward her former Watcher. Old habits die hard, atonement be damned.
"Hello, Faith. How are you?" Wesley asked. His tone was monotone, his face hard. She couldn't exactly blame him considering how things went down the last time they met.
"Still alive. Never thought I'd live long enough to see you paying me a visit," she said, making her suspicion obvious in her tone. Whatever Wesley was here for, it couldn't be good.
"A lot's happened," he said which felt like an understatement to Faith.
"Whatever it is suits you. I mean, you're looking…" She took a moment to look him up and down. He certainly didn't resemble the awkward goof she'd first met in Sunnydale "...good."
"You know what's going on in L.A.?" Wesley asked, straight to business.
"Seen the news, sure. Never-ending night, rain of fire. Team Angel must really have their hands full," Faith said. She had admittedly been worried about Angel, but she knew he could handle himself. He always did.
"You don't know the half of it." Wesley said.
Faith leaned forward. "But you're here to fill in the blanks for me. Why?"
"We need you," Wesley said, leaning in as well.
"Well, uh, I hate to wet the paper for you, Wes, but I'm kinda unavailable right now. Maybe you want to check back in a few decades when my parole comes up," she said sarcastically. Wesley made it sound as though it'd be as easy as walking her out the door. She was done focusing on the weight of the world. She had to take it a day at a time, for her sake.
"You need to know—" Wesley started, before being interrupted by Faith.
"It's Armageddon again. I dig. The last thing you need is me in the mix. Besides, Angel'll come shining through in the end like he always does." It was always the same old story. Something tries to end the world, Angel or B, or Angel and B step up and deal with the big bad. After so many ends of the world, it feels repetitive.
"Angel's gone, Faith." This made Faith freeze. What the hell did that mean? "Angelus is back."
Oh no. Oh no. This was...This was beyond bad. She'd never had the privilege of meeting Angelus, not really, but if Angel's acting job from her evil days told her anything, it's that they were all screwed. She stared at Wesley worryingly for a moment, but a moment was all she needed.
"Step away from the glass," Faith said in a deadpan tone.
She hung up the phone. Wesley stared at her before he hung up his phone and stepped back quickly. Good. He had an idea of what she was planning. She had to help Angel, so she promptly ran through the glass headfirst. She tumbled and stood, fighting off multiple guards. She promptly grabbed Wesley and jumped through a window. She'd go to LA, she'd find Angelus and she'd shove Angel's soul back where it belonged. It was the least she owed him. After all, redemption was a rocky path, and he'd helped her make it this far. So, as far as she was concerned, doing this was five by five.
You all know what happens after this if you watched Angel season 4 and Buffy season 7. Thanks for the read, and please review.
