Last time on 'Chronomancer's Games', after Erasa and Angela discovered Gohan's Gold Fighter alter ego, he took Trunks and Logan to search for them to explain the origins of their Saiyan fathers, which resulted in Logan's reunion with the Bushinryu master Zeku, who had disposed of several Soldiers of the Silver Empire and Mercenary Tao, an old enemy of Goku's. Logan got a call from Gill, who requested that he and his friends meet up with him, desiring a match with Tomita, who has yet to fight since her arrival on Earth. But it does bring the question: What is the Super Saiyan God?

Divinity Discovered! Tomita the Goddess!

The air was still as the humans and Saiyans learned about Gill's desire to battle a divine power as well as the fabled Super Saiyan God. However, the shock of the discovery wasn't as impactful for Logan and Tomita as was the Emperor's desire to challenge the latter to a battle. Needless to say, Logan was also irate, only growing more so the longer he looked at Kolin. Videl observed this and figured out that the Assassin had some history with the secretary. "You want to challenge the Super Saiyan God? And you feel that Tomita's the best candidate?" Logan asked. "She hasn't even been in a fight since she got here!"

"I am aware of your concerns, Logan, but I made my wishes clear," said Gill "She is the best candidate for the Super Saiyan God ritual. I figured a full-blooded Saiyan with a noble heart would be the best bet."

"How do you even know the traits of a Saiyan in the first place?"

"I did some learning about these beings and even learned about the Super Saiyan God ritual. I can tell by looking at several of these faces that you have enough noble Saiyans to complete the ritual, but the noblest is the girl."

"Logan," Tomita said as Logan got ready to attack. "Let me do this. Bardock, Gohan, Trunks, Goten, and Little Trunks, I'm going to need your help with this." As the said Saiyans gathered around, everyone found that Tomita was a good judge of character. She did shoot a glare at Kid Trunks, though, so he wouldn't try anything. "I hope you have the patience to wait, Gill. I don't know how long this ritual would take."

"Take your time." Nodding her head, Tomita calmed down as Bardock and the hybrids circled around Tomita holding hands. They each transformed into their Super Saiyan forms and transferred their energy to the Saiyan girl, giving her a red aura that was unlike the gold one that surrounded them. Suddenly, a bright red light shone on everyone, forcing them, except for Logan, Abel, and Gill, to cover their eyes. When it cleared, Tomita was slightly taller, her frame a little slimmer, and her eyes and hair red. Her energy couldn't be picked up either. "Ah, such power. It's oozing out of you. Beautiful divinity."

Tomita had a good look at herself and started to freak out. "Um, Logan? What happened to me?"

"Tomita, calm down! You were simply transformed, that's all," Logan explained.

"But...I've never transformed before. Not even into a giant ape."

"As far as you know," Vegeta commented.

"Vegeta, I didn't even look at the full moon!"

"Just get to the fight! I've been dying to see you in action anyway." Tomita took a deep breath and turned to face Gill, who got in his battle stance. The Emperor made the first move, sending a blast of fire her way. Tomita responded with an energy blast of her own, causing a dust cloud to form. Gill tried a surprise attack, but Tomita's Saiyan instincts kicked in, allowing her to grab his arm and throw him into the air.

"Oh, that's a bad idea," Logan said as the Super Saiyan Goddess fired a shot at the airborne Emperor. Six wings formed from Gill's back and fired several light beams on the ground as he dodged, forcing the others to take cover. Tomita charged towards Gill, a punch ready to strike him. She tried bluffing him by spinning and kicking him, but the Emperor grabbed her ankle and tossed her down before firing more light rays. When the dust cleared, Tomita stumbled to her feet, still in her Goddess form, much to everyone's amazement. However, she was badly bruised up. "Tomita!"

"I'm fine, Logan!" said the Saiyan Goddess. "I've got one more trick up my sleeve!" She then gathered her energy into her hands before aiming it at Gill, who was flying around. She then fired her blast, but it was deflected away and left Tomita open for another attack, prompting Gill to fire a blast that was a combination of his fire and ice abilities. The attack hit Tomita head-on and knocked her down towards the group and right into Logan's arms. They saw that she was back in her normal state out cold as well.

"You know, for what it was worth," Gill said as he landed, prompting Logan to look angrily at him. "She did put up a good fight. Unfortunately, it was unfulfilling."

"Hold it, Gill," Logan said, getting his enemy's attention. "I have a proposition."

"Then let's hear it."

"The next time you face a Super Saiyan God, they'll be much more powerful. They'll give you a real challenge."

"I will look forward to it...and to that one's progress." With that, the two parties separated, with Logan giving one last glare to Kolin. "You miss his touch, don't you, Kolin?"

"I cannot lie, My Lord," the beautiful blonde said. "His eyes used to be so warm, even towards me. Now, it's a glare colder than your powers and mine put together."

"I agree. I can tell he's going to be a little disgruntled at seeing us again."

Back at Capsule Corp., Logan had put Tomita in the hospital bed per Bulma's orders. Naturally, he was worried for her, but Bulma reassured him that Tomita would receive the best care possible, putting his mind at ease. He did remember that Saiyans did possess a Zenkai, which increased their power by the amount of injury they received in battle. "Thinking about the outcome of the battle won't put your mind at ease, will it?" Vegeta asked as he entered the room. Logan merely stayed silent. "She'll be fine. Typically, what doesn't kill a Saiyan only makes them stronger. Unless the opponent is a complete weakling like Videl's father. She did very well. Her instincts as a Saiyan served her when needed and she stood her ground even against a tougher opponent. There's no shame in that."

"Maybe," Logan said. "But she wasn't at her full potential. I couldn't sense even her Spirit Signature because of the divine aura, but I could tell that she was still scared of the power. That's why she lost. Would she have won against Gill if she had a better grasp of that power? No guarantees, but she would've stood a better chance."

"Bardock and I came to a conclusion about that. We felt that one thing that could've helped her was a Super Saiyan transformation. If trained properly with that, it could help stabilize the Super Saiyan God form and increase her ability with it. That said, there is one other individual that Gill could never beat. No doubt he's got the Ascended Saiyan form right about now."

"Are you talking about Goku?"

"That's right. You, his son, Trunks, that old ninja, and the girls did speak to him, right?"

"Correct. He's a nice guy."

"Of course. He's got no monkeys on his back. He doesn't even have his tail anymore. Kakarot's an idiot when it comes to a lot of things, but when it comes to combat, his battle genius and creativity rival my own, with his power even eclipsing that. I had no need to train that hard until after Namek once I saw him as a Super Saiyan. I would've loved to see his battle against Frieza right to the end."

"Why didn't you?" Logan asked.

"Unfortunately, Kakarot, King Kai, and the at-the-moment Guardian Kami had a plan to evacuate everyone from Earth except Kakarot and Frieza. The Earth Dragon Shenron revived Frieza's victims including myself and Namek's Grand Elder Guru. After that, Dende, who was a child at the time, made the wish that allowed Kakarot not to hold back. Porunga, Namek's Dragon, sent the Namekians, Gohan, Bulma, Captain Ginyu, and myself back to Earth while they got to finish their battle. That battle against Frieza marked my death, Krillin's second death, and Kakarot's first Super Saiyan transformation. Kakarot's noble heart is what makes him perfect for the Super Saiyan God form. Between that and his battle experience, he'd have Gill on the ropes."

"Let's hope Goku's got energy to spare since Gill can revive himself." Vegeta scoffed at that in disbelief, feeling that Logan was bluffing when it came to Gill's powers. The Saiyan Prince left the room as Videl entered. "What's up, Videl?"

"I was going to bring up Tomita, but it looks like you and Ms. Bulma's husband talked about that already," said the false champion's daughter.

"We also spoke about Gohan's dad. If there was a way to bring Goku back, he'd be a perfect candidate for the Super Saiyan God form. Chances are, like Gohan, Goku's also got the Super Saiyan 2 form."

"I don't doubt it. Gohan did say that his dad was a lean mean training machine. In fact, he said that most full-blooded Saiyans are."

"It's true. I fought the past versions of Vegeta and his former comrades Nappa and Raditz and even combined together, they all paled in comparison to the current one. Of course, Vegeta trains to surpass Goku, but knowing what I know from Gohan, the Saiyan Prince still has quite a ways to go."

"Yep. Now, as for the reason why I came here, you kept glaring at that blonde girl that was with Gill. Was she an ex that left you for him?"

"In a way, yes," Logan answered. "You know that guy that's in the holding cell, right? Charlie Nash?"

"Of course."

"Well, he and I were part of a small group dedicated to taking down this organization called Shadaloo and its leader M. Bison. That girl, Kolin, led the group, which consisted of me, Nash, an outlaw named Juri Han, and a wind master named Rashid. Kolin was going under the alias 'Helen' at the time. Like the rest of us, we utterly despised Bison. However, Kolin had no idea that I was merely infiltrating the group to get to the Secret Society. This was after my friends and I discovered some plans for a 'Project: Frankenstein', which turned out to be Nash. I gave up on the mission when Cammy got hurt. Kolin tried to comfort me, not knowing that it was Nash who landed her in the hospital. After Bison was destroyed, Kolin immediately disbanded the group. I saw what Gill was capable of. It hurt me that Kolin would side with him so willingly. I haven't spoken to her since."

"You're still kicking yourself in the butt, aren't you?" Videl asked, getting a nod from the Assassin.

"Yeah. I can't believe I took down one tyrant and put another one in power. I also can't believe he has the nerve to ask my help after all he's done."

"What has he done to tick you off?"

"Stole a British Boxer's car, defeated my buddy Alex's friend Tom, kidnapped a little girl Chun-Li was looking after, DNA manipulation, and has even resorted to murder. Kolin thinks he's a Messianic figure, but the true Messiah wouldn't resort to any of those."

"So that's why you don't like Gill. Not because he stole a girl of yours."

"I should've known that Kolin wasn't loyal to anyone but him."

"I'm sorry, Logan," Videl said. "Hey, I have to get back with the others. Gohan and I are resting up for now. We got school tomorrow."

"If I were you, I wouldn't let everyone in on Gohan's secret," Logan said. "You don't want his mother breathing down your neck, do you?" Videl smiled and shared a chuckle with him as she left. The Assassin got a blanket, put it on Tomita, and took one more look at her. 'She's strong, a real fighter, but she could really use a Senzu Bean right about now,' he thought as he turned the lights off and closed the door.

"So, how is she?" Chun-Li asked, approaching her lover.

"She's stabilized, but I was thinking that she could really use a Senzu Bean at this moment. The problem is, I don't know where Gohan gets them or if he even has any right now."

"She'll heal. I don't know a thing about Saiyan physiology, but from what I've seen with Tomita in the fight against Gill, they're warriors to their very souls." As they spoke, they took the conversation to the balcony, where they could speak in private while the Assassin could sense for other fighters. "But enough about that. How do you suppose we get to the bottom of this and get back home?"

"You're asking me? I only went to another dimension once before this. I'm still not used to it."

"It's still more than we could say for the rest of us."

"Hold that thought," Logan said before looking around. "No need to keep hiding! I can sense you pretty clearly! You're neither Saiyan nor Earthling!"

"A good way to use your mind," said a figure who floated a few feet in front of the balcony. He was green with pink on his biceps, pointed ears, a purple gi, blue sash, and orange shoes. He had on a turban and cape as well, the latter with shoulder pads. "You're not from around here either from what I can tell. Who are you?"

"Just some folks trying to get back to our world. We're friends of a Saiyan/human hybrid named Gohan." The green man took a good look at the two of them, making them nervous.

"So far, you're not giving off any bad vibes. But how can I be sure?" Logan answered the stranger's question by jumping down into the courtyard, prompting him to land. Logan merely outstretched his fist. "What is this? What kind of game are you playing?"

"No game. I share a belief with a friend of mine and Chun-Li's named Ryu. We believe that one's soul and intentions can be read through their fists. If I'm not mistaken, Gohan's dad Goku follows the same philosophy. So what do you say, friend?"

"That sounds like something Goku would say. Okay then. We'll spar, but I'm not pulling any punches." Logan smiled as the two bumped fists and got ready. The green man was the first to make his move, sending an energy blast Logan's way. Logan responded in kind, but the stranger rushed in and readied a punch. The Assassin blocked it, grabbed his arm, and spun around multiple times before sending the stranger into the air. The green fighter stopped himself and surged down with a kick, which Logan dodged this time. He then felt something grab his ankle, so he looked down and saw a green hand tightening its grip. He looked and saw his opponent with his left arm stretched into the ground while he was charging electrical energy in his right index and middle fingers. "Not bad, kid," the stranger said. "How about I show you one of my favorite moves? Don't worry. It won't be enough to kill you. Special Beam Cannon!" From the stranger's fingertips came an orange blast with a spiral around it.

The attack hit Logan dead-on, much to Chun-Li's horror, but the stranger was in for a surprise when the dust settled. Logan put up a 'Chidori Shield' just in time. "Man, you're really good," Logan said, praising his opponent. "But I thought you said you weren't pulling any punches. It feels like you're holding back." The stranger merely smiled at the Assassin's perceptiveness.

"I hate to say it, but you're holding back as well." All he got was a smirk from Logan, which prompted him to take off the turban and cape, revealing a pair of antennae. "How about we go all in?"

"Bad idea. If I go at full power, I'll lose control. Just ask Vegeta and Gohan."

"What I meant was, go all in to the point where you're still in control. I know about that little quirk of yours, kid."

"What?" Chun-Li asked. "You know about Logan's dark side?"

"Yeah," came the answer from the stranger. "I'll tell you how if he beats me." This prompted Logan to switch to his 'Chidori Discharge' state. He charged for the stranger, who got ready to counter. Logan made like he was going to punch, but when the green fighter went to block it, we wound up blocking an afterimage. Logan then tripped him up, causing the stranger to jump backwards. He then charged Logan by jumping in the air and using a moonsault kick on him. Logan was sent back, but he recovered, firing an electrified 'Sonic Boom' at high speeds. The stranger tried to dodge, but his right arm got cut off by it.

"Ah! I'm so sorry, sir!" Logan exclaimed, offering his apologies. "I didn't mean to..."

"It's alright," the stranger said in reassurance. He then let out a shout as he regenerated his arm, freaking out both Logan and Chun-Li.

'He reminds me of Dhalsim,' Chun-Li thought. 'But Dhalsim can't do that.'

"That's the third time that's happened. The first one was against Gohan's evil uncle. The second was against Cell."

"You have quite the battle history," said Logan.

"You have no idea." The two fighters clashed again, trading punches and kicks with neither one letting up. The stranger then jumped into the air and raised a hand above his head. "Masenko!" The name of the attack surprised Logan, who grabbed and absorbed the attack with his left hand.

"That was one of Gohan's attacks. You wouldn't happen to be Gohan's mentor Piccolo, would you?"

"The 'Masenko' must've gave it away," Piccolo said, getting a nod from Logan. "I trained him since he was four years old. He also got some training from Goku in preparation for the Androids and again in preparation for an unofficial tournament called the Cell Games."

"It sounds a lot like the S.I.N. Tournament my friends and I participated in. We had to fight our way to win the finals before getting to face the tournament's host Seth."

"Seth? Was he a machine without originality?"

"Well, I wouldn't say completely without, Piccolo," said Logan. "He did have four moves that were his own, but for the most part, his moveset consisted of attacks from other fighters, which makes him a dangerous opponent. Luckily, our friends Ichigo, Ryu, and I destroyed him."

"Well, it's a good thing that Gohan destroyed Cell."

"Why was he called Cell?"

"He was created by Dr. Gero's computer from the cells of Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Frieza, King Cold, Krillin, and myself. While none of his attacks were original, he used them in original ways, much like your 'Seth'."

"It sounds like the cells of this 'Frieza' character, Goku, Gohan, and Vegeta would make him powerful enough," said Chun-Li. "Add you to the mix and there's your monster."

"You caught on," Piccolo observed, noting Chun-Li's deduction skills.

"That's because Seth also had my signature 'Lightning Legs Kick'."

"Cell had my 'Special Beam Cannon', Goku and Gohan's 'Kamehameha Wave', Frieza and King Cold's immense power, Krillin's 'Destructo Disk', and Vegeta's 'Galick Gun'. He also got the 'Solar Flare' escape tactic from Goku and Krillin since they have a history of using it."

"Did they originally create the technique?" asked Logan.

"No. Tien Shinhan did. But it was simple enough for them to learn it, especially for Goku. I wouldn't quite know how to teach it to you since I've never used it."

"So what's your backstory, Piccolo?"

"It's a long one, so take a seat."

The next day, Gohan flew to Hercule City wearing his Saiyaman costume on his way to school. He knew he was early, even without learning a certain technique from his father, but he didn't want to take any chances. He landed on the building of the school after seeing no crimes in progress and noted that Videl was just arriving at the same time. He greeted her with a smile as he pressed a button on his watch to put the costume back in, changing him back into his school clothes. "You remember the plan, right?" he asked.

"Of course," she responded. "Act as usual and don't bring up your Saiyan heritage, right?" Gohan chuckled and nodded. "By the way, didn't you tell me your dad knew a technique that allowed him to teleport anywhere as long as he sensed an energy signal there?"

"Yeah. It's called 'Instant Transmission'. Unfortunately, he never taught it to me in case I needed it." He then looked outside and spotted Future Trunks sitting on a bench outside the campus. "What's Trunks doing here?"

After the school day, the two teenagers went to see if the older Trunks was still there. Instead of at the bench, however, he was at an ice cream vendor buying a kid a sundae that he wanted that his parents couldn't afford. He heard someone clear their throat, so he looked and saw Gohan and Videl, the latter tapping her foot with her arms crossed. "Sorry if I was creeping you guys out," said the future Saiyan. "I was just wondering what Gohan does on a daily basis after he beat Cell."

"A bit of training, but also a lot of schoolwork," said the original hybrid. "Nothing new. Why do you ask?"

"Well, your future self was my mentor and like an older brother to me. With him killed by the 17 and 18 in my world, I wound up on my own."

"So our Gohan's the nearest thing you have to a brother now?" Videl asked, getting a nod from Future Trunks. "I guess that makes Goku like an uncle."

"Well, he and my mom were like brother and sister, so I guess so."

"Family ties, huh?" a voice asked. They all looked and saw Gill and Kolin, the former having spoken the words. "I was wondering who would be the next Super Saiyan God I'd be facing."

"Unless you settle for an Ascended Saiyan, Gill, it'll be a while until you fight a Super Saiyan God again," Gohan said, getting into his fighting pose. "And believe me, my Saiyan blood is boiling."

"Ascended Saiyan?" Gill asked with a chuckle. "What is an Ascended Saiyan?" In response, Gohan and Trunks both transformed into said forms.

"This is an Ascended Saiyan, or as we call it, Super Saiyan 2."

"Impressive. Your father must have the same form, Gohan." Gill then turned to Kolin. "Would you like to try this one out, Kolin?"

"Yes, my Lord," Kolin answered as she got ready for battle. She thought she'd be battling Gohan, but Trunks stepped in.

"Let me handle this one, Gohan," said the future Saiyan. "Blur was just a warm-up."

"O-Okay, Trunks," Gohan said. "If you insist." Future Trunks got ready to battle against Kolin, who got on the defensive. He took this cue to fire an energy blast at her, only to have her dodge it by jumping and pushing off of an icicle. She then tried one of her icy knife-hand strikes, which Trunks didn't block, showing the physical stamina of the Saiyan body. He then grabbed her by the lapels on her jacket and tossed her back. As Gill was shown to be impressed with Trunks' abilities, he knew the young Saiyan wasn't even warmed up yet. Kolin jumped up for a kick, but Trunks grabbed her ankle and threw her like a javelin to a tree, surprising the Emperor and shocking Videl, who just stood wide-eyed.

"That was too easy," Trunks said. "Maybe I should've been in my base form."

"No," said Videl. "I should've fought her. Then she'd give someone a challenge. You're strong enough in your base form, Trunks. You and Gohan both."

"Are you alright, Kolin?" Gill asked.

"I...I may have a concussion," said the secretary. "Perhaps I should've challenged the girl. I'm not ready to face a Saiyan yet."

"Until next time. Let me know of Tomita's progress." With that, Gill and Kolin left for their neck of the woods, the latter holding her head.

"We should get to Bulma's," said Gohan, getting a nod from Videl and Future Trunks. "That was some nice fighting, Trunks."

"Thanks, but I normally wouldn't harm a woman," Trunks said.

"She asked for it," Videl said. "Logan did say she broke his heart."

"Then it should've been Cammy fighting her, not me."

"I agree, Trunks, but she'll fight Kolin when the time comes," said Gohan. He looked in the direction that Gill and Kolin took off in before taking off towards Capsule Corp.

CHAPTER 8 END

And so, the Illuminati Emperor Gill got his challenge from the Super Saiyan God in the form of Tomita, while Logan met Piccolo and Future Trunks fought Kolin. What will come next for the Z Fighters and Logan's team? Stay tuned for the next chapter of 'Chronomancer's Games'!
