A/N: HAPPY BIRTHDAY OLIVIA BENSON! But I'm so mean, I made a whole chapter about Kathy. lolz

2014

Kathy was sitting on the couch when Elliot came home, he then grabbed a beer and sat beside her, "Kids?"

"Upstairs. Watching a movie inside Maureen's room. How's Olivia?"

"She's going to make it through," He said as he drinks his beer.

"I can't imagine what she went through. How could your former squad didn't notice she's missing?" She said. "You say she had a boyfriend? Does he not live with her?"

"Why do you care?" Elliot said. "You didn't seem to care about her when we were partners."

Kathy just looked at him, "I…I guess I'm not paying attention to her that much when you were together."

"Brian's living with her, he's on duty when that man broke into their–her apartment."

"Does she know you helped them find her, Elliot?"

"No," He said. Kathy nodded and stared up at the ceiling.

"Olivia's a saint, you know?" She said. "When we were separated, I thought you're going to make a move on her. I guess my first impression on her was wrong."

"I guess so," Elliot said emptying his bottle. He was about to stand up when Kathy spoke up.

"Do you even fall in love with her?"

Elliot sighed, "Should I lie to you?"

"I guess so."

"It's been long buried, Kathy. Besides, she doesn't like me." Lie.

I love you.

"But if you get a chance, you gonna tell her right?"

Elliot fell silent, He got that chance before he left Olivia. It'll pass "I'm not taking any chances. I'm not her type." He added trying to lighten the mood

"I don't know how much time I've left here, Elliot. And all I ask before I die is for you to be happy with someone else."

"And you think that someone else is Olivia? Come on, Kath," He said.

"She knows you better than I am, El. You need to tell her, express what you feel for her."

Elliot shook his head, "I think it's too late."

2015

"Mornin' Fin." Olivia said as she enters the squadroom, Fin looked up and smiled at her "Morning "

"Got something for me?" She asked.

"Oh, yeah. There's mail I put in your desk." The then-detective said.

"Great, Thanks." She said as she entered her office. She placed her bag on the couch then shredded her coat and jacket. She then fixes herself a cup of coffee before sitting in her chair to check the plethora of mails when Nick knocks on her door "Come in."

"Hey have you read the paper today?" He asked. Olivia looks up on him "I haven't why?"

Nick walked towards her and unrolled the newspaper, "saw it on the obituary, that's your former partner's wife, right?"

Olivia took a deep breath and read every word in the paper, Our deepest condolences to Fmr. Detective Stabler's family as his wife, Kathy Stabler sadly passed away last monday.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday for those who want to pay respect.

Her mind immediately goes to Elliot. It must be so hard to lose someone you loved for a very long time.

"You coming? Fin is thinking also." the detective said.

"I-I don't know, maybe it's best for me not to come." She said "We're not on good terms."

"That's what not I heard." Nick said.

"It's complicated, Nick. And it was the truth."

"Okay."

After she put Noah to bed that night, her mind goes back to Kathy. The woman she envied so much because she had a man like Elliot and had a family she always dreamed of.

She also remembers the time she agreed to meet with her, only to tell her to convince Elliot to sign the divorce papers.

You want me to try to convince him to sign the divorce papers.

You're his partner. You give him stability. Elliot can't move on until he feels like he's on solid ground.

The truth is you know things about him I will never understand.

Then, Eli happened and everything went back into normal. But sometimes, she thinks what Kathy said to her and realized Elliot never opened up to his wife the way he always did to her.

He never did.

She looked at the obituary once more and sighed, may her soul rest in peace.

"I thought it's complicated," Nick said as they stood a few feet away from the place where Kathy is going to be buried. There, she saw the older kids comforting each other and then, there's Elliot carrying Eli whose cries can be heard from where she is.

"It's still complicated." She answered. "I just want to pay respect, that's all."

"From here? If my abuelita saw you, you probably got a smack in the head." Nick joked.

"Good thing your abuela wasn't here. Let's go." She said as she walked away from the scene.

"You and Stabler? Do you…"

"He was married, Amaro."

"But if you got a chance, would you?"

Olivia let out a breath, "No." Lie "His kids wouldn't like me."

Nick nodded, "Okay."

PRESENT DAY

On a chilly February morning he finds himself standing at his late wife's grave. "Hey, hope you like it there." He said as he placed the flowers "Liv's awake now. but something happened… she couldn't remember me."

"Maureen said it's reversible, with therapy and memory exercise her memories will come back. But I don't think when."

Silence.

"When I put my papers in, I texted her to meet me in Central Park. I don't know how many hours she's been waiting for me during that day but when I walked in on her, I saw the pure sadness in her eyes and I felt guilty. Guilty of leaving her." He said.

"I sat beside her and she asked me why I decided to leave the unit. I just told her it was time and she…" He trailed off.

"She told me that she loved me that day, Kathy and you once asked me if I fell in love with her during the course of our partnership, the answer is yes I am and I'm really sorry if I lied to you. I tried to dissolve those feelings but I can't, I just can't." He continued. "I don't know if I was able to tell her that I love her too."

As if his late wife sent a request to the higher ups, Elliot receives messages from Kyle and Maureen.

Captain Stabler? Where are you? - Kyle.

Dad, Olivia wants to talk to you. - Mau.

Elliot couldn't help himself to smile and look at Kathy grave once again, "Thank you."

Yo be nice, Review.
