I'm back with the next chapter. I don't really have much to say so i will keep it brief. Thanks to the people who wrote a review, it really means a lot to me. Once again the chapters are getting longer, and if anyone has any ideas for me or something please write it to me.

Thank you.

Chapter 6

"..93.."

I had woken up early once again,

"..94.."

it wasn't unusual for me to have multiple sleepless nights

"..95.."

Didn't make it any more fun though.

"..96.."

I didn't want to just lay in bed, so I got a small workout going.

"..97.."

I was currently on the floor, wearing only shorts and a tank top.

"..98.."

I was almost done with my pushups by now.

"..99.."

At least I wasn't sleepy anymore.

"..and 100.."

I sat down cross-legged, while trying to catch my breath I look out the window to see the sun was starting to rise. The hotel room I had been given was fairly nice, a good double bed with a table on each side, some chairs near the large window, and a television hanging on the wall opposite of the bed. I pick up my watch that was laid beside me and look at the time. 06:49 me and Jas had promised to meet up 07:10 for breakfast, afterwards we would leave our hotel and get down to the bullhead that would be waiting for us.

After taking a short shower to wash of the sweat I had accumulated during my workout, I quickly get dressed. We were told to leave our uniforms at our rooms as we were given new "civilian clothes" to better blend in. I was now wearing a pair of dark green cargo pants, a light brown trench coat with a white t-shirt underneath, a beanie to help keep my owl ears and bright white hair from attracting to much attention, and lastly a pair of brown hiker boots.

A short check in the mirror to make sure everything sat as it should and I leave the room I had spent the night in.

Stepping out into the corridor, I just see Jasmine's door open to reveal her new undercover clothes.

She was wearing a pair of black jeans, a simple dark blue jacket with a vest underneath, she had let her hair down, and had a pair of brown boots similar to my own. She looks at me before greeting.

"Morning Fair, you've been up for a while as well?" Jas asks me, implying that she had trouble sleeping like myself.

"Yeah, couldn't really get comfortable, you ready for some breakfast?" I respond as we start walking down the hall towards the elevator that would take us to the restaurant that served breakfast on the 1'st floor.

"Sounds good, though we shouldn't take too long, we want to be there in good time, you know to look professional and all that" Jasmine says with a smile.

I chuckle at her words "yeah let's see how far you get with that" I respond jokingly. She simply huffs at me before we step into the elevator.

After eating a decent size meal, we leave the hotel and start walking towards the landing platforms where we were supposed to be sent out from. We were about fifteen minutes early when we arrived to see the woman from yesterday.

I remembered her name was Winter. She seemed like the typical no-nonsense kind of boss, the type that wanted results over everything else, and if you failed them you would have your ass handed to you.

But maybe I was being too harsh, I mean we had only spoken once, though she did call me a cadet… but she wasn't the first person to mistake my rank, so I didn't mind too much. As me and Jas walks towards her, the specialist spotted us and walk to meet us.

"You're in good time" she stated rather than anything else.

"Agent Judgement reporting for duty" I answer her with Jasmine following.

"Agent Shine reporting for duty" Jas says clearly. Winter looked almost slightly impressed at us, but quickly got serious again.

"The general had commissioned some new gear for the both of you to take along with you, come with me and I will show you what you will be working with" winter says before turning around and walking back to where the bullhead stood. We follow behind her, now defiantly fully awake, I certainly hadn't expected the general to have something custom ordered for us.

Walking towards the bullhead, I spot a crate siting next to it getting closer I saw multiple sorts of equipment inside, some stuff I could recognize, but some of the stuff I had never seen before.

Winter took one of the items out of the crate and started explaining.

"First up are these earpieces, you will each get one and they are to help both of you to stay in contact" winter told us while handing me a very small white earpiece, winter signaled for me to put in on my ear, I did so and I was surprised to feel it almost clamp completely down on the back of the ear flop.

"these earpieces are made to fit the users ear so much that its almost not visible to the naked eye" Winter explained while handing Jasmine her own.

What Winter pulled out next I was able to recognize on my own.

"Small binoculars with built in night vision, easy to carry but still has great range" Winter said as she gave us both one. "also has a small flashlight built in just in-case" winter also mentioned. She probably knew that I didn't need them with my Faunas vision, but you never knew when a flashlight could be useful so I accepted the hybrid.

Winter continued "you were already given new scrolls to contact me so the last things you will need are weapons" now this really got my attention. I did wonder what we would be given, but I didn't expect custom weapons.

"Agent Shine, you have been given a modified M110 semi-automatic sniper rifle with removable scope, 12 rounds mag, and collapsible bipod. The weapon is able to be transformed on command via a small button near the stock" Winter demonstrated by pushing the small button on the side of the rifle. The weapon almost collapsed on itself, minimizing to about half its original size, resembling more something you would use as a baton instead of a high caliber rifle. "the weapon also supports dust rounds" the specialist finished, giving the weapon to Jas who looked to have about a hundred stars in her eyes. But before she could say anything Winter had already begun talking again

"You have also been given a fully automatic Glock. 18" Winter pulled the handgun out "this weapon is also transformable" she demonstrated by flicking her wrist, resulting in the handgun to turn into something resembling a standard combat knife. Jasmine's eyes were about to fall out of her skull upon seeing this, but before that could happen Winter turned the weapon back into its gun form and handed it to the girl.

Turning her attention to me, Winter pulled a new weapon out from what had quickly become the best crate in the history of remnant.

"Agent Judgement, you have been given a modified M4 with a removable M203 grenade launcher, 30 round magazines, though unlike agent Shine's weapon, yours cannot collapse, but you have been given a special carrying pack made to not look out of place when traveling in cities and such" Winter explained handing the weapon to me and pulling out small shoulder bag that could be slung over my shoulder to resemble a normal bag.

"Along with that, you also been given a .500 Magnum, this weapon is able to transform itself into an expandable baton, capable of delivering a high amounts of volts. The amount of volts it delivers is depended on how much force you swing it with" Winter demonstrated by swinging the baton with enough power to make the weapon spark with electricity. "a light touch should only deliver about a 100 volts, but it can go all the way up to 50.000 if swung with enough force, this is not recommended on non-aura users" Winter sternly warned me. While giving me the gun/baton.

Getting ahold of the revolver I weigh it in my hand, I had tried using one a couple of times before, but I would still need practice before I would be completely comfortable with using such a weapon.

"That is all you will need and remember, you're acting outside of the Atlas government so you will need to make sure not to attract any trouble with the locals you come across, is that clear?" She asked us clearly not taking a no as an answer.

"Yes Mam" we both respond clearly, I was honestly just excited to get some time to look over my new gear, I had never had anything this expensive to call my own, so this was pretty big for me.

"Thank you so much mam" Jas almost beamed happiness when she spoke those words.

"Don't thank me, thank the general by completing this mission. It seems very important to him" she seemed to have a distant look on her face when she said that. "anyway you can make a full check trough while in the air, it's about time for you to leave" Winter says nodding her head at the bullhead.

We give Winter one last salute and step onto our flight. Leaving Atlas without knowing when or if we would be back.

We had been in the air for about an hour at this point, we had been informed by our pilot that this kind of aircraft was actually a new type, meant to deploy special ops soldiers as fast as possible, so we would be arriving a lot sooner than first expected, though it would still be about until the sun was setting before we would arrive.

Jas and I had barely talked to each other, we had been too busy looking over all the new stuff we had been given. Jasmine had already taken apart her sniper and was in the middle of putting it back together, I don't think a have ever seen her so happy about a weapon, but I completely understood her happiness because I was feeling very similarly.

I had spent an entire hour just looking over my equipment, I was excited at just the thought of getting to try my new weapons in action.

We've been in the air for about five hours now, while not that exciting, we had managed to pass the time by talking, and playing with a deck of cards that Jasmine had smuggled in her pocket, she was always smart like that.

We were above the ocean and would soon be at the coast of Sanus, our pilot had informed that we'd be landing in the city of Vale for a short re-fueling and said we were allowed roam a bit of the city in the meantime to stretch our legs.

Neither Jasmine nor myself had actually been inside of the city before, so we looked forward to see how it differed from Atlas.

It had been about seven hours in the air straight before we finally had the chance to leave the small aircraft. After landing on a local platform, we stepped out, and met with the pilot to make sure everything was clear.

"Alright, it's going to be about an hour before we leave again, you can do whatever you want just make sure to be back before the time is up, I don't want anymore delays than necessary" the pilot told us. "I would suggest you get some lunch. This part of Vale has a lot of café's" he suggested to us. We gave him confirmation and left the platform, excited to finally see some of the famous Vale city. "Oh, by the way, specialist Winter told me to tell you to check your scroll when we landed" he shouted after us. We nodded at him and continued walking.

"What do think Winter would need us for already?" Jasmine ask's, i just shrug my shoulders.

"I don't know, but il check now" I say to Jas. Pulling out the scroll we had been given I unlock the front screen and was met with a message from our superior. I read it out loud so Jas could hear as well.

"Agents, if you're reading this you have likely arrived at your first stop. I'm writing to inform you that this scroll is also capable of making transactions. You will have the money that you will need here, but remember that you're acting as civilians, so under no circumstance are you to use these funds irresponsible or in a way that would attract unwanted attention to you. Remember I want frequent updates from you. That is all" I read out loud. I look at Jas who is smiling at me.

"Guess we won't need to worry about cash" I say to her.

"Damn right" Jas responds gleefully.

"Remember she said that we're not allowed to use them on anything unnecessary" I point out quickly before Jasmine got any weird ideas.

"Bah, you're boring. Who gets to decide what important huh" she states with a small smirk "maybe I find some cute clothing that I'm going to die if I don't get" she says jokingly. I simply roll my eyes at her and we continue walking into what seemed to be some kind of a main street.

"Wow, this place is so colorful!" Jas exclaims. I saw what she meant, in Atlas everything was always meant to be clean and proper, that meant a lot of the color white. While pretty, it would quickly bore anyone to only see one color all the time.

We continue walking down the street, there were lot's of people walking all around us, almost to the point where you constantly needed to watch out so as to not bump into anyone. I look down at my watch to see it had taken us about seven minutes to get here from our ride. It was important to keep these things in check, so you would know how much time we had left before we had to leave.

"Jas, we should probably start looking for a place to get some food" i look at her and say.

"Got it, do you care where we eat?" Jas ask's me

"Nah, not really, why?" I tell her.

"Because then I get to pick" she responds gleefully. I see her take a quick look around the street we're on before pointing somewhere. "there, let's eat over there" she says, already walking in the direction she was pointing at.

As we get a bit closer I take a look at the place Jasmine had decided that she would eat. It was a rather small place, it only seemed to have two tables outside. The Café did look nice enough though, small yet in a way it looked comfortable.

We walk further towards it until we are at the door where something caught my eye. Jasmine was just about to open the door when I stopped her.

"Jas" I tell her, my voice having lost a bit of strength.

"What's up, you do know the food is served inside right" she asked in a jokingly manner. I simply nod to the door, or more specifically the sign on the door.

Jas followed my line of sight before realizing what the sign I looked at said.

"NO FAUNAS ALLOWED"

The sign had been written with big red letters. I could only sigh, coming from Atlas I was very much used to see such signs in a lot of places. But everyone always talked about how Atlas was the worst when it came to such things, so seeing it here, and on the first place we tried no less was just really disheartening.

"I'm sorry" was all I could tell her, but she wasn't having any of it, not today.

"Don't EVER apologize for who you are, is that clear" Jas said to me very sternly, her eyes flashing anger. She always hated seeing discrimination, especially when it involved me.

"Come on, this place is full of places to eat, let's just go right over there" Jasmine says, pointing at another place just a dozen meters away.

"Of course" I respond having found some of my strength back to smile at the girl.

"Welcome to the Silverstein diner, where all food is served on a silver platter" an older woman who stood behind bar says as we walk in, "would you to like a table?" she asks us, I wasn't sure if my hearing was a bit off or if the woman had some kind of southern accent.

"Yeah, that would be nice" Jas responds to woman. The woman points to the end of the room. "there's room down at the end" she says and goes to another customer with what appeared to be some coffee.

As we walk towards the table the woman had pointed at, I get a look at the place we had walked into. The Silverstein diner was fairly big and also decently packed, with about twenty people in here in various places, the place was set up with about a dozen booths you could sit in and some stools up at the bar where some also sat to eat.

As we sit down, we take a look at the menu's that were already laid before us.

"Pretty wild that some of the things on the menu are things I didn't even know existed" Jas says, she sat on the opposite side of our table.

"I know what you mean" I had skimmed through it myself. There were almost more dishes that I didn't recognize than ones that I did.

In the end Jasmine had decided on a normal burger whilst I choose a salad, to be clear I'm not a vegan or anything but I just really like salads.

We continued talking while waiting on our food. Jasmine was telling me about some of the things she wished we could go and do here in Vale, but I ensured her that we would come back to the city again sometime and do some of the things she wanted. At this point I have just accepted that Jasmine would be the one to choose what activities we could do, as I wasn't confident in knowing where to go or what to do myself.

When the food arrived we were meet with pretty much what you would expect, but I still think Jasmine was hoping that Vale had some new crazy ways to make their food. We continued talking whilst we ate about Vale and also about some of the things we were hoping to encounter whilst searching for Amber.

"Meh, I mean better than the cafeteria, but I was still hoping for something more exciting than just a burger" Jas says after eating the last of her meal.

"Only yourself to blame, I really don't understand what exactly you were expecting" I simply answer also having finished my meal.

"A girl's allowed to dream" Jas only says with a sigh. I just smile at her, knowing the girl would say something like that.

"Anyways it's about time for us to head back" I say as I look at my watch. We were expected back in about fifteen minutes, so we should get going just to be sure.

"Yeah, hey do you mind if I pay? I want to try that thing with the scroll" Jasmine ask me.

"Sure, go ahead" I respond as we get up to pay at the counter.

Jasmine took her scroll and put it on the machine that usually only accepted credit cards. The woman behind the counter was about to say something, probably about how stupid it looked, but was silenced when the machine accepted the scroll and confirmed the payment. I just smile at the woman, slightly liking the look of confusion on her face before leaving the diner.

As we step outside we walk in the direction that we had come from. We simply walk in silence, just enjoying the sights when my second pair of ears heard something unusual.

"You Faunas bitch, I'm going to enjoy beating the shit out of you"

A voice in the distant had said. I immediately stop in my place and look towards where the voice was coming from, I spot an alley and determine that must be the source. Jas looks at me, apparently recognizing the look on my face from the times we had worked together in the field.

"Where do you hear it from" she asks, I simply nod towards the alley before we both walk towards it. As we got closer, we both heard laughing and when we got to the corner we saw the source.

Three men were staring down a young woman, the woman looked very uncomfortable as the men kept walking closer and closer to her. Me and Jas simply looks at each other before walking into the alley, i signal for Jas to make me take the lead.

Alright that's it for now. this chapter was meant to go up yesterday, but i got distracted so i could only post it now, good thing about that though is that i've already gotten started on the next chapter, so that should be out in only a few days. I hope you're enjoying this story so long, and again if you have any ideas or advise i would really appreciate it.

Thank you.
