A/N- So while I put my other long fanfiction on hold I started writing this. This is a supernatural type story though it isn't based after the show in any way since I have never seen it also this one is short and doesn't have much character development since I just wanted to write Natsu and Lucy meeting each other. I hope you enjoy ? Disclaimer I have dyslexia so If something doesn't make sense I most likely read it right even if it wasn't so bare with me
Dad decided to up and move us to a small town the other day but something was off. Not the sudden choice to leave our home in Colorado to move to a rural part of Maine but the town. The moment we entered I felt like everything had eyes and that it was always watching me but I just brushed it off as the animals in the woods. But there is always this sense of fear and longing as I walk through town. What could be watching me? Or what could be calling me?
I made my way down a dirt road that ran through the middle of the woods. I pulled on my jacket as the November air tried to get through the gaps as I treaded through the snow that covered the ground of the forest.
As I went deeper into the forest, following the road that I was told would lead me to the store I felt uneasy.
Something was watching me.
'No Lucy it is probably just a deer' I thought.
Right?
I looked around in every direction.
Nothing was there.
'Great Lucy you are losing your mind'
I kept walking and soon I came across a log cabin. As I got closer to it I saw the sign that was hung up outside that told me that I was in fact in the right place.
With each step up the stairs of the porch the wood creaked and I felt more uneasy but I knew it would be better to keep walking than to stop and risk whatever it could be being dangerous and getting me.
As I opened the wooden door a bell rang through the home and I was greeted by a boy with messy pink hair that looked to be around my age
"Hi welcome to Fire Dragon's Fire Wood" he snorted "how may I help you today" he had a goofy grin on his face that made my heart ache. I happily let it sooth the uneasy feelings that had taken control of me in the woods. I felt... safe.
"Um, my dad said he needed firewood," I looked at my snow covered boots, feeling awkward. I assumed that It might be that I have never done this before, our old fireplace was gas burning so there was no need for wood. A las things have changed now…. and now this guy is looking at me like I am crazy "what?"
"Where is your dad?"
"He is busy, why?"
"That's very foolish of him" he shook his head as he grabbed a piece of paper and a pen
"How is he foolish?!" I made my way over to the counter he stood behind
"You must not be from around here" he tapped the black pen against the dark wood
"No, I'm not" I replied
"Where ya from?" He dropped the pen to go and grab the wood
"Colorado" I watched as his strong arms picked up the wood and carried it to the counter.
"Damn" his voice didn't get above a whisper but I still heard him "got any family around here
"No"
"Then how the hell did you get here?!" The look came back
"Can you just answer me?" I tapped my foot on the floor, starting to get impatient
"Those woods are dangerous," he bent down and grabbed more wood, "can I just give you some advice?"
"Hm?" I whipped my head away from him, looking back down at my snowy boots
"Don't stay out past midnight" a loud bang could be heard as he dropped the last of the wood onto the counter
"What happens past midnight?" He made his way back behind the counter and grabbed the pen again.
"That will be $120" I searched through my wallet for the cash. It seemed cheep for the amount of wood he had given me but I didn't ask no questions "how did you get here?"
"I walked"
"Ah your dad is more foolish than I thought" He chuckled "I'll be right back" he sighed before walking into another room. 3 minutes later he came back and ushered me to help him get the wood.
It took us a few trips back and forth from his car but we managed to get all the wood in the bed of his truck
"So you never answered me. Why can't we stay out past 12?" The truck was old, maybe a 1960s something Ford, but it was in surprisingly good condition. Though that was probably all thanks to the owner
He let out a sigh gripping the steering wheel tighter "Well less than 100 years ago there was this young girl. I'm not exactly sure how old she was but she believed that the supernatural lived in these woods. She mainly believed in Fairies and all her life she went chasing after them. She even founded a restaurant here called Fairy Tail but not long after she disappeared. No one knows what happened here. Some people say, whether it was good or bad, she found the fairies. Others say that she was just killed by a bear or something. But everyone seems to agree that she is still out there in the woods. But the reason we aren't allowed to go out past midnight is that ever since she disappeared all the people who have gone missing in this town were out past midnight"
"Do you think it is connected?" Why was in even invested into his story I mean it sounded insane
"Well her friends said they all saw her before 12 on the night she disappeared so they think her ghost is luring people to the woods."
"Neat story" I mean what was I supposed to say? This guy sounds absolutely insane but all at the same time he made sense. I mean I feel a sense of wanting every time I see the forest "Now that you are done, what is your name?"
"Oh I am Natsu Dragneel" he reached out one of his hands so I could shake it
"Dragneel...ha it kinda similar to Dragon. Is that where 'Fire Dragon' came from? Anyway my name is Lucy Heartfilia it is a pleasure to meet you"
"Uh...yeah sure" he mumbled as I shook his hand
