Sorry...I'm a couple days late. This just totally slipped my mind on Stephen's Day. But it's here now. I still haven't made much progress on episode 6 yet, so expect a hiatus after the first election.
Drama Nation - Episode 3, Part 2 - Basically a Package Holiday
Duncan, 14, Manitoba: I was meant to be guarding the jail last night, but I got lazy and took a nap under one of the trees. When I got back, it was too late…
The 39 pioneers gathered before Chris on a cliff. Amy smirked as she stood beside Sammy, who sported a black eye.
"Welcome to the next showdown!" Chris announced. "District members will take turns bungee jumping off this cliff and plummeting to the bottom."
Beth and Zoey hugged each other and gasped.
"Once there, you'll try and grab one of the 100 lambs in the enclosure below. Ten lambs have a star tattooed underneath their wool in each district colour. The first district to successfully catch and shear three of their own will become the upper class. Not every member has to jump, but no district can make the same person jump twice in a row. And of course, if you finish in under an hour, your team gets a reward."
Trent, Leshawna, Izzy and Lightning were harnessed up as Chris counted down.
"Three…two...one…GO!"
The four of them immediately leapt off the cliff and into the unknown below.
"Gotcha," Trent said as he grabbed one of the sheep.
"Darn it," Leshawna groaned as she bounced back up. She was the only one that didn't catch one. The other three unharnessed themselves and lead their sheep to the rest of the district for shearing.
"Who wants a go now?" Leshawna asked.
Ezekiel ran over and took the harness from her. He put it around himself, but found that it was too loose.
"You need to tighten it," Leshawna said, going to help him with it.
"Why?" Ezekiel asked. "Oh, I guess because you're a lot fatter than me."
"Excuse me!?" Leshawna snapped as she pulled hard on one of the straps.
"Ack! No! I didn't mean that in a bad way," Ezekiel said quickly.
"Just jump before I smack your ass!" Leshawna yelled. The home-schooled boy gulped and jumped.
At this point, the other three districts had already chosen their next jumpers, and Courtney, Sugar and Eva bobbed back onto the cliff.
"Any luck?" Courtney asked as she brought another sheep over.
"We're not finished yet," Heather said as she sheared the side of the first one.
"Okay," Courtney replied. Her heels dug into the ground as she tried to keep control. "Can someone make sure this one doesn't get away?"
"Do your thing, Rodney," Scott said, and the stocky boy ran over to the sheep and bopped it on the head. The animal fell over, unconscious.
"Is that allowed?" Bridgette asked, pointing at him.
"No rule against it," Chris shrugged with a smirk.
"Yes! A red star!" Sammy cheered, picking off some more wool.
"The red district have found a red star. They earn their first point!" Chris announced.
"Hey, I found it. Not you!" Amy protested.
Ezekiel popped back up with one of the lambs. As Harold came over with the razor, Dawn rushed up to it and got down on her knees.
"Hey there, little guy," she said. "Do you happen to know what colour star is underneath your wool?"
"Maa," the sheep responded.
"He said he has a green star," Dawn told them.
"How do you know this?" Harold asked sceptically.
"Every animal has a voice of their own," Dawn said, stroking the top of the lamb's head.
"Maybe we should still shear it. Just in case," Harold said. "Who wants to jump next?"
When nobody immediately responded, Harold said, "Beth, you do it."
"What? Why me?" Beth protested.
"No arguments. Jump," Harold hissed.
"Fine," Beth said irritably, stomping off.
Katie, Cody and Jasmine were next to pop back up. Cody was screaming his head off because he had accidentally picked up a pile of sheep poop.
"Haha. For once you made my day," Gwen smirked.
Zeke's face lit up as he continued shearing the sheep.
"It's a green star," he said. "Dawn was right."
"Lucky guess," Harold shrugged.
"But it was a 10% chance," Ezekiel pointed out.
"Got one," Beth said, dragging over another lamb.
"I'm next," Shawn said quickly, dashing off.
Dawn immediately went over and put her ear to its mouth.
"Maa," it said.
"Another green one," Dawn announced.
"Well we never know…" Harold said.
"We should keep it unsheared," Leshawna said. "Then we can give it to the green district later to get the reward."
"Good idea," Bridgette agreed.
"I'm not sure about this…" Harold said uncertainly.
"Harold, why do you keep disagreeing with us?" Bridgette snapped.
"I am not!" Harold protested.
"Dawn just proved yourself. Why are you being so stubborn!?" she yelled back.
"Guys, stop fighting!" Dawn pled, popping up between them.
Bridgette, 13, British Columbia: Harold just doesn't get it. Being a leader doesn't mean you can be a dictator.
"I got another live one," Duncan said, pushing a sheep over to Rodney, who once again knocked it out with one fist.
"Any luck?" Courtney asked as she walked around her team-mates, who were busy shearing the other three sheep.
"Nope. This one's almost done," Sadie sighed, sweat visible on her brow.
"Okay, that's alright," Courtney said, taking deep breaths. "Who wants to…no! Tyler, get back here!"
The tracksuit-wearing teen had run over to the bungee cord and tied it around himself.
"Cowabunga!" he cheered, leaping off.
But it wasn't long before he got tangled up, and he hit his head against the side of the cliff.
"Tyler is out of today's challenge!" Chris announced. "Man, two showdowns in a row someone gets knocked out."
Courtney slapped herself in the face.
Courtney, 14, Town Council: Like I said. Useless.
"Comin' through. Comin' through," Geoff said as he dragged over a fourth sheep for his district.
"I got it," Brick said, throwing himself onto its back, razor in hand.
"Why don't you go next, DJ?" Geoff asked his buddy, who was almost done the first sheep.
"Me? Oh…uh…I dunno," DJ stuttered. "I'm sort of in the middle shaving here."
"You're basically done," Geoff shrugged. "Come on, man, it'll be awesome, man."
"If he says 'man' one more time, I'm gonna puke," Gwen said from nearby.
"What about Jo? She hasn't gone yet," DJ suggested.
"Ugh, finally," the younger girl said, walking off.
DJ, 14, British Columbia: I'm not the biggest fan of heights. It brings back some bad memories.
Quiet Kid inaudibly sighed as he popped back up on the cliff.
"Another failure for red," Chris narrated. "You guys really need to up your game."
"Can someone be ready at the ledge when the other person comes back up!?" Noah asked, clapping his hands.
"Why don't you shut up and actually do something?" Gwen scowled, holding up some clippers.
"I am doing something. Giving orders. Action is not my forte," Noah shrugged. "You on the other hand – you've got the divers' body."
"You should know from Cody that flattering me doesn't work," Gwen said angrily, but she went over to the bungee cord anyway.
Noah, 12, Town Council: Gwen is so out of it. You have to use reverse-reverse psychology on her.
"Yellow," Dawn said, holding her ear up to Shawn's sheep.
Harold sighed, "Fine. But if we lose you're cleaning the toilets."
"Better her than me," Shawn chuckled.
"I know you guys hate me, but I'm still gonna do stuff for you," Jo bragged as she brought the green district their sixth sheep.
"Could we slow it down? We have too many at once," Sky said as she and Ella were in the early stages of shearing the last one.
"Maybe we could try what the yellow district did," Eva suggested, going up to Jo's lamb and pounding it in the neck.
Everyone stood back in shock as the sheep go on its hind legs and said "Debo salvar las fresas bailando."
And it galloped off.
"You guys all saw that, right?" Eva said, scratching her head.
Lucio the Lamb, 6 months, Alberta: Los niños deben ir acompañados de papas fritas.
"Got one," Gwen smirked, carrying the red district their second sheep.
"Finally, someone besides Izzy," Noah sighed.
Meanwhile, Bridgette popped back up, and Dawn did her thing once again.
"No star on this one," she said.
"Well then there's nothing to lose if we shear it," Harold said.
"How can you still not believe?" Bridgette complained, her hands in the air.
"I have to side with Harold," Leshawna said. "We're all just standing around and doing nothing."
"I think it's a great idea," Dawn grinned. "We could use the wool to make clothes later."
"Ooh, I'm great at knitting," Beth squealed. "But how do we make it into yarn?"
"We could get B to build us a spindle," Dawn suggested.
"Who's B?" Bridgette asked.
"Quiet Kid. That's his name," Dawn told them.
"How do you know?" Beth asked.
"I can talk to mute animals. No matter their species," Dawn shrugged.
Beth, 12, Alberta: Dawn is my friend and all, but it's creepy how much stuff she knows.
Owen stuck out his tongue in determination as he and Cody sheared another sheep.
"Yes!" Owen cheered. "Another red star!"
"Upper class, here we come again!" Cody exclaimed.
"The red district have found their second star!" Chris announced.
"Oh yeah!" Scott cheered from the other side of the ledge. "We've got one too."
"And the yellow district have found their first sheep," Chris said. "While the blue and green districts are still on zero."
"Come on guys! We're not losing again!" Jo shouted.
"DJ, I know you're scared, but…" Geoff pleaded as he and DJ continued to shear.
"Scared? I'm not scared," DJ said in a high-pitched tone. "I just think I'm needed up here."
"I'd love to have a turn," Ella said, raising her hand.
"Yeah, see. Little Ella wants a go," DJ said.
He watched as Ella delicately went over to the ledge, and then she jumped off without the cord.
Several of the green-district members let out screams, but DJ was the loudest and the shrillest.
"Ella!" Sky shouted in panic, running over to the edge.
Suddenly, Ella flew up while sitting on the lap of an Alberta bald eagle. She was carrying a lamb on her lap.
"Woah," Jo said, visibly impressed.
"Birds of a feather. Every shape and size.
Carry me upwards so we may win the prize."
Eva, 13, British Columbia: Just when I thought a sheep speaking Spanish would be the weirdest thing I saw today…
"Yeah!" Courtney and Heather double high-fived after spotting a yellow star on the sheep they were shearing.
"The yellow district have found a second sheep in their colour!" Chris announced. "One more and they become the upper class."
"Great, a red star," Eva groaned as she also sheared.
"Yes!" Izzy cheered as she landed on deck with yet another sheep.
"Okay, Gwen, you're up next," Noah said.
"I've already done it three times," Gwen protested. "Some people haven't gone yet. What about Owen?"
"He'll snap the cord in half," Noah hissed at her.
"Cameron?"
"He'll snap himself in half," Noah said.
"Well, there's one other option we can try…" Gwen smirked.
Noah screamed his head off as he was thrown off the cliff by Izzy. He didn't come back up straight away, so Gwen sighed and pulled the cord up manually.
"I told you that was a waste of time," Noah scowled.
"You didn't even try!" Gwen yelled.
"Whatever," Noah said with an eye roll. "We've got one lamb left. Don't screw it up."
Gwen, 14, British Columbia: [facepalms] Noah is worse than my brother.
"The star! It's the magic star!" Leonard squawked as he watched Leshawna shear. The rest of the team cheered.
"Nice one, Dawn," Bridgette said, giving the younger girl a hug.
"The blue district have found their first star!" Chris announced.
"Wo-hoo!" Owen cheered.
"…but nobody cares because the red district just found their third star. You guys are the upper class!"
The red district all jumped up and down screaming.
Noah, 12, Town Council: [pumps fist] Upper-class three times in a row! At this point, it's basically a package holiday.
"Can I have another go?" Sadie asked Courtney.
"No, you missed last time," Courtney replied.
"But I'll be really careful," Sadie protested.
"We can't take any chances," Courtney told her. "Katie, you're up next."
Katie squealed as she harnessed herself up.
Katie, 14, Newfoundland and Sadie, 14, Newfoundland
Sadie: I just feel like the district appreciates you way more than me.
Katie: Oh come on. You're the funnest girl I know. And you're really smart. Remember when you helped me to study for history?
Sadie: Oh yeah.
Katie: [recites] Queen Victoria was monarch of the British Empire from 1836 to 1901. And she wore the cutest crinoline dresses.
"Alright!" Geoff cheered.
"Nice!" Trent exclaimed, fist-bumping Duncan.
"We did it!" Beth squealed, hugging Zoey.
"The yellow district have found three sheep!" Chris announced. "Blues have two, and greens have one. There are fifteen minutes remaining."
"I call the bar!" Duncan shouted.
Courtney, 14, Town Council: Darn it, we lost again! We'll get upper-class next time.
Tyler, 13, New Brunswick: As long as we're not selling chickens, I'm down.
"Three minutes left!" Chris announced.
"This is it. This is the one!" Dawn squealed as she and Leshawna sheared their final sheep.
"There it is!" Leshawna roared, shaking with excitement.
"Blue district are the cooks!" Chris announced. "Which means greens are the labourers again."
"Seriously? Can you guys try for once!?" Jo yelled at her team.
"It wasn't on purpose this time. We swear," DJ assured her.
"What are we going to do? We still need one more sheep to get the reward," Sky said with her hands on her head.
Dawn put her finger to her chin.
"Guys!" she said, waving her arms to the rest of her district. "We can give them one of our sheep. Then we'll get the reward."
"Do we have a green sheep?" Zoey asked.
"Yeah, there's been at least three," Dawn said. "Let's give them this one."
She whispered into one of the lamb's ears and lead it to the green district on the other side of the ledge.
"Shear this sheep. It has a green star," she told them.
"How do you know?" Sky asked.
"It told me," Dawn said.
"Sheep don't talk," Lightning interjected.
"Were you not there…" Eva asked. "Guys, let's not question it. Just shave it."
Brick and Jasmine immediately got to work as Chris announced, "Two minutes left!"
Eva, 13, British Columbia: Some people think Dawn is crazy. Well, we live in a crazy world.
Sky shut her eyes and crossed her fingers, while sweat poured down her face.
"It's okay, you've got it," Dawn assured her.
"One minute remaining!" Chris announced.
"We got it!" Brick and Jasmine shouted in unison.
The whole town jumped up and down and screamed.
"The green district have found a third sheep. You've won the reward!" Chris announced.
The green district all got into a big huddle, except Jo who stood to the side and folded her arms.
"Guys, we still lost," she pouted.
The 39 pioneers stood before Chris, who was in between two crates. One of them was a lot larger than the other.
"Congratulations, Gemini, you completed the challenge on time, so you're entitled to just one reward," he said. "Your first option…"
He opened a smaller crate.
"…a frontier microwave."
"That's just a microwave with wood glued to the front," Noah pointed out.
"And a barrel of hot cocoa," Chris added, opening the top of a nearby barrel.
Shawn, 9, Alberta: We need that microwave! We can re-heat all the leftover fish with that thing!
"Are you ready for option number two?" Chris asked rhetorically. "40 hot pizzas, with every topping you can imagine!"
The entire town went into hysterics. Owen brought the rest of the red district boys into a huge headlock.
Owen, 13, Prince Edward Island: Pizza! Pizza! I NEED PIZZA!
"Town council, I'll give you a moment to make your decision," Chris said.
The four council members went away from the rest of the group.
"I vote pizza. Owen will kill me otherwise," Noah said quickly.
"Definitely the microwave. The pizza will only last us one day," Harold said.
"What can we make in the microwave? Cocoa isn't going to feed a town," Noah interjected.
"We could cook much faster," Harold stated.
"There's only so much room in the microwave," Courtney pointed out. "And you can't fry or boil stuff with it. What do you think, Sky?"
"I don't know," Sky shrugged, scratching her head. "But I want the pizza."
"That's the thing. We want the pizza, but we need the microwave!" Harold exclaimed.
"Except we don't," Noah remarked, crossing his arms.
"I'm also concerned about the barrel of cocoa," Courtney said. "Some of the kids are already eating way too much sugar from the grocery. It's not healthy."
"But…"
"Harold, it's three against one! Get over it!" Noah yelled at him.
"Let's just go back," Sky said irritably.
Sam, 11, Saskatchewan: Heh, I really wanted that pizza. That stuff is my fuel.
"So council, have you made your decision?" Chris asked.
Many of the pioneers were yelling 'Pizza!', while a few yelled, 'Microwave!'
"Yes," Courtney nodded. "And we have decided to choose…the pizza."
The town went into hysterics once again.
Shawn, 9, Alberta: I wanted the microwave…but who cares? Pizza!
There was a warm atmosphere in the mess hall as the thirty-nine pioneers tucked into their pizzas.
The blue girls and Gwen sat at one table.
"I love pepperoni," Beth said between slices.
"You do know what that's made of, right?" Bridgette asked.
"No. What?"
Bridgette thought for a moment. "Never mind."
She turned to Dawn, who was eating a biscuit with squashed tomatoes.
"Are you sure you don't want any pizza? This one's vegetarian," Bridgette assured her.
"Hm? Oh no thanks," Dawn said politely. "I don't trust fast food. Did you know that McDonald's puts beef flavouring in their fries?"
"No!?" Bridgette exclaimed, her eyes going wide. "I feel awful now."
"It's okay," Dawn assured her. "Consumers are mislead in all sorts of ways."
Dawn turned around after getting a tap on her shoulder.
"Hey Dawn," DJ said, with Geoff behind him. "It was really awesome how you helped us in the show-down."
"Yeah, that rocked," Geoff added. "Even if I don't really get how it worked."
"Don't thank me. Thank the honesty of mother nature's creatures," Dawn beamed.
"Uh…yeah…" Geoff said awkwardly, looking at the ground.
Geoff, 13, British Columbia: I'm stoked that Dawn helped us get the pizza party…but I have so many questions.
It was early morning in Gemini. Six members of the blue district made their way to the mess hall.
"I do not want to clean up," Shawn complained.
"I know. The dining room's gonna be a mess after last night," Leonard agreed.
"Isn't it the labourer's job?" Sam asked.
"The labourers do enough as it is, honey. It won't hurt to pitch in," Leshawna said.
They went in through the double doors and were astonished to find that the place was sparkling clean.
"Woah!" Shawn exclaimed in awe.
Heather was using a rag to wipe one of the tables.
"Oh, hey guys," she said. "I thought I'd get up early and clean up the pizza party."
The members of the blue district all ran over and cheered. Except Dawn who stayed at the door with her arms folded.
Dawn, 11, Newfoundland: Heather's not telling the whole truth. I can see it in her aura. Someone is doing the work for her.
Harold, 13, Town Council: Heather really took one for the town. She definitely deserves a gold star.
Gwen walked over to the barbed fence, where Zoey, Beth and Bridgette were busy working.
"Need some help?" she asked.
"You're a lifesaver, Gwen," Bridgette chuckled, and the goth girl went inside the pen.
"It's really cool that you help out even though you're upper class," Beth said. "You should get a gold star."
"To be honest, I just want to get away from the rest of the red district," Gwen shrugged. "I've heard someone's name going around for the star. Dawn."
"Really?" Beth asked gleefully.
"Yeah," Gwen said as she washed her hands with a bar of soap. "Geoff said she helped the green district finish the showdown. He said she knew which sheep had the green stars, but he didn't really know how."
"She did the same thing with us. She got all of them right," Zoey said.
"Well, you or Dawn would be awesome," Beth told her. "Or any of us, really."
Sky, 9, Town Council: Everyone on my district has more work now that Brick and Jasmine are cops. So I'm trying to pitch in where needed.
Sky clenched her eyes as she plunged one of the outhouses with a scarf around her mouth.
"Do you want a hand?" Eva asked from behind her.
Sky shook her hand in response.
"Suit yourself. I'll go check on Ella," Eva said, and she walked off.
In the background, Jo and Geoff hauled a wagon of water-jars.
"…I'm telling you, it's like football, but without all the sissy parts," Jo explained.
"What's so sissy about football?" Geoff asked in confusion.
"In rugby, there's no helmets. No shoulder-pads, big sumo suits, nothing," Jo said.
"But…that could kill people," Geoff stated, his eyes wide. "Like, I've seen some awful stuff playing football. Once this guy Richard broke three ribs. It still hurts for him to laugh."
"I dunno, I guess the English are just smarter," Jo shrugged. "I've played it with my cousins – none of them are as fast as me."
"I can believe it," Geoff chuckled.
Jo, 10, Alberta: The green district still sucks. But some people suck less than others, I guess.
Rodney was in a trance as he watched Amy and Sugar walk around the grocery.
"Ooh, I could have this one," Amy said as they looked at the jars of sweets. "Or that one. Or this."
She took the lid off a jar of red gobstoppers and placed three in her skirt pocket.
"Freeze!" Owen yelled, running over. "You are under arrest for shoplifting!"
Amy sat on the ground and burst into tears.
"Woah, woah," Trent frowned, walking over. "There was no need for that."
"I-I…I was going to pay," Amy sobbed, holding out her left hand which was filled with nickels.
"See, Owen, she just put them in her pocket because her hands were full," Trent said.
Owen's face went red. He got down on his knees. "I'm sorry, Amy. Are you okay?"
Amy nodded with a sniff.
"I'll pay for the candy," Owen said, handing Scott three nickels.
"Candy, sweet…Amy like," Rodney drooled.
Amy shot him a raised eyebrow, then she walked off.
"You have an amazing imagination," Scott remarked.
Rodney, 10, British Columbia: Amy, Jasmine, Sky. Sky, Amy, Jasmine. How do I decide?
Sam and Leonard went over to the checkout to pay for a wooden cup-and-ball.
"Excuse me? Lindsay?" Sam said.
Visibly exhausted, Lindsay just looked at the ceiling.
"Hello? Earth to Lindsay," Heather said, poking her in the temple.
"Huh?" Lindsay gasped. "Oh, the food's not ready yet."
"We're the merchants, Lindsiot," Heather said with rolled eyes.
"Oh…right," Lindsay said, taking the toy from Sam's hands. "That's 10 cents."
Sam handed her two nickels, and then the boys left the store.
"Are you alright?" Tyler asked Lindsay.
"Yeah, just tired," Lindsay replied.
"Well you better do something about it. I got up at 5 to clean the pizza party and I'm doing fine," Heather hissed.
Lindsay let out a yawn and plopped her head back down on the counter.
Heather, 15, Ontario: It's important that Lindsay, Katie and Sadie remember who's boss. Hint: it's not Courtney.
The pioneers lined up in a single file outside the chapel
Courtney, 14, Town Council: The next town hall is coming up, and we think it's important that everyone gets a say in the next gold star.
The four council members sat at a table inside the chapel when Jasmine walked in, wearing her mounty hat.
"Hi, Jasmine," Sky greeted. "We want to make sure everyone's voice is heard. Who do you want to nominate for the gold star?"
"I want to nominate Dawn," Jasmine said. "She helped us win that pizza party. We all owe her one."
"Thank you," Courtney said.
"Dawn," Brick said. "She's honourable if I do say so myself."
"I want to nominate Heather," Sam said. "She cleaned the kitchen all by herself. It saved our district a lot of time."
"Heather," Katie and Sadie said at the same time.
"I would like to nominate Heather," said Leshawna. "She can be a little rude sometimes but she's a hard worker."
"Hi Beth," Harold and Sky greeted as the stout girl entered the chapel.
"Who do you think deserves the gold star?" Courtney asked.
"I don't know. There's so many good choices," Beth said. "Gwen, Heather, Bridgette, Dawn…I don't really mind as long as it's a girl."
"Thank you for your time," Courtney grinned.
Heather put on a smile as she strutted inside.
"Hello, Heather," Harold said, adjusting his glasses.
"Hey guys," Heather greeted with a wave.
"Who do you want to nominate for the gold star?" Noah asked.
"I want to nominate…Sky," Heather said. "She's a hard worker, and she does an amazing job at leading for her age."
Sky blushed at this.
"Well, we can't really give it to ourselves," Courtney told her.
"Chris said there was no rule against it," Noah shrugged.
"I know, but it's not good for our image," Courtney said.
"Nothing you do is good for your image!" Noah remarked, slamming his hand on the table.
"Guys, guys!" Heather exclaimed, clapping her hands. "Just saying. It's something to think about."
With that, she strutted back out.
Heather, 15, Ontario: Too easy. I know every trick in the book.
"It's time for another town hall meeting!" Chris announced as the pioneers poured inside and took their seats.
"So," Chris said, rubbing his hands. "How is life in Gemini?"
"Fine/Good," most of the town said in unison.
"Let's start this like we usually do," Chris said. "Who here approves of the job that the council is doing?"
Most of the pioneers raised their hands, including Gwen.
Gwen, 14, British Columbia: I'm still pissed that I can't change districts, but I can still hang out with my friends so it's fine. Plus, getting upper class three times in a row is nice.
"And who here does not approve of the job that the council is doing?" Chris asked.
Shawn, Jo and Trent raised their hands.
"…for reasons other than not letting you swap," Chris sighed with an eye roll.
Jo and Shawn scowled as they put their hands down.
"The floor is yours, Trent," Noah said.
Trent stood up.
"I don't think having police is such a good idea," he said.
Jasmine and Brick looked at each other in worry.
"And why do you say that?" Noah asked.
"I was in the candy store all day. Owen accused four people of shoplifting, and none of them actually were," Trent answered. "He even tried frisking Leshawna."
Owen sighed. His face was covered in scratches and he was missing one of his front teeth.
"And the prison. Samey got beat up!" Trent shouted, his arms in the air.
"She kicked me!" Amy protested.
"You really need to do something about this, because it's not working," Trent demanded.
"Permission to speak!" Brick exclaimed, standing up.
"Permission granted," Noah shrugged.
"I would like to object," Brick said. "In my opinion, the police have been doing a great job at keep this town in check. Jasmine and I stopped Izzy from treating the chickens like toys, and Duncan stopped Shawn from putting his hand in the gobstopper jar after picking his nose."
Several of the pioneers laughed.
"What? No he didn't," Shawn protested.
Duncan, 14, Manitoba: Okay, so I made that up. Brick asked me for a 'progress report', and it was the first thing I came up with.
"Next order of business," Chris continued. "It's still not too late to chicken out. Go out this door with your tail between your legs. Does anyone want to go home?"
A few seconds of tense silence passed.
"Then it's settled. You're all staying!"
The pioneers cheered.
"I love you all!" Sky shouted over the applause.
"And now for the part you've all been waiting for!" Chris announced. "Every three days, the town council awards a gold star worth 50,000 Canadian dollars! That's enough for 50,000 sodas. Or 200,000 jawbreakers!"
Cody drooled at this notion.
"So, council, who's it gonna be?"
The council got into a huddle for a moment, and then they parted.
The camera showed Heather, who had a smirk; Gwen, who was lounging in her chair without a care in the world; and Dawn, who had a look of uncertainty on her face.
"Okay, this was a really hard decision," Courtney said. "So many names came up in the nomination, and they all deserved it in their own way. But this person is level-headed, a loyal friend, and she goes out of her way to keep this town tidy. Congratulations Heather."
The rest of the town cheered as Heather got up. Except Dawn who was frowning.
"Don't worry. You'll get it next time," Zoey said beside her.
Heather grabbed her gold star from Chris, and she shook her head.
"Wow. I didn't expect this at all!" Heather exclaimed, holding the star up to her face. "Thank you. Council, everyone who nominated me. Actually, make that everyone period. You're all my friends forever."
The town cheered once again. Dawn remained motionless as a rock.
"How would you like to call your parents and tell them the good news?" Chris asked.
"Oh definitely," Heather said.
Chris held up the keys. "What are you waiting for? Go tell 'em."
Heather took the keys and strutted out of the town hall
Dawn, 11, Newfoundland: [still frowning] Credit where credit's due, Heather's a good actress
Bridgette, 13, British Columbia: I didn't take Dawn to be the jealous type. I wanted the star too, but I'm still happy for Heather.
Heather went into the phone booth and picked up the receiver.
"Hi," a female voice said.
"Hi mo…" Heather replied, only to be interrupted.
"This is the Peters-Seki residence. We can't come to the phone right now."
"We're too busy at the moment," her father added. "Probably too busy having fun."
"Call us again later," said her mother. "Or don't. We don't care."
This message was followed by a beep. Heather's face went pale. She put the receiver back and brought her hands to her face.
The rest of the yellow girls ran over to Heather as she left the building.
"How'd it go?" Katie and Sadie asked in unison.
"Just leave me alone," Heather said irritably, stomping off.
Heather, 15, Ontario: [crying] I can't believe they didn't pick up. What could be more important than me?
"Well that was interesting turn of events," Chris said to the camera. "And not gonna lie, kind of hilarious. Will Dawn expose Heather? Will Amy and Samey learn to get along? And when will Rodney realise that it's all in his head? Find out next time on Drama…Nation!"
